Title: Battle Standard Bearer
Description: ...~!

Se7enalicious - October 23, 2003 08:29 PM (GMT)
Well, I want a BSB that will look impressive, so i'm planning on making a conversion etc..

BUT what i want to know is -

what banner should i use D:!

I was thinking the hydra banner, its expensive but will come in very useful, another attack in the first round could mean a lot less wounds in the next

Help :(

Arch-Seer - October 23, 2003 09:06 PM (GMT)
Unless you want the Banner of Naggarythe, then always take the Hydra banner. +1 attack in the first round is too good to give up.

Vriishnak the Twisted - October 24, 2003 01:16 AM (GMT)
Are you intending for him to be mounted? If not, you'll have a lot of work trying to keep him alive...
Assuming he's for a Cold One Knight regiment, I'd say the Hydra Banner, as Arch-Seer said. The extra attacks make it even more likely that you'll break the enemy on the charge, which is what you need.

Se7enalicious - October 24, 2003 03:53 PM (GMT)
sorry did i not mention that? i was going to mount him on a cold one and tuck him in the middle of my cold ones unit

is the banner of nagarythe (sp?) worth 150 points? being unbreakable is elite, but...150!

Edithax~

on a seperate note completely - if i bought the Malekith body from mail order components, could i mount him on something other than a black dragon?

i mean would it be legal ;)

Vriishnak the Twisted - October 24, 2003 07:57 PM (GMT)
Definitely legal, yes. There are no restrictions on what you can and can't convert, excepting the LOTR line of minis.

As to the banner, Nagarythe won't be worth it for where you're placing him. Seriously, are you expecting to lose combat with your heavy cav?

Se7enalicious - October 24, 2003 10:12 PM (GMT)
wow, people act like i know stuff \o/

and no, so hydra banner it is

(win~!)

Thanks a lot guys,

just wondering though - how would i give this new malekith a points value etc?

:E?

Vriishnak the Twisted - October 24, 2003 10:17 PM (GMT)
Well, you're gonna have to check with your opponents if you wanna use him as Malekith(I thought you were wanting to use him as a noble B)) and you can generally assume around 300-350 points for a dragon. Or you could just do what I thought you were, as generic characters are generally a much better value than special characters. All up to you and your opponents.

*Se7enalicious blinks and misses the reply

helpful and fast - *Se7enalicious bows down to Vriishnak (sp D:)

in the book, a black dragon = 320 points

so 945 - 350 = 625 for malekith :(

i just had this vision of a regiment of cold one knights with a BSB and malekith on a cold one ;)

that would be 664 points.

not that bad, a noble would look cool as malekith but his abilities are too elite to pass off

:(

Vriishnak the Twisted - October 24, 2003 10:40 PM (GMT)
Talk it out with your opponents. Personally, I wouldn't have any problem with it, but you definitely want to make sure that you're not going to annoy anyone. Also remember that you won't be able to use him like that outside of friendly games. Aside from that, have fun with it and good luck on the conversion. :D

Se7enalicious - October 24, 2003 10:47 PM (GMT)
at the local GW, they positively encourage conversions so they can steal ideas and give them to a higher authority

its all cool though, i just wanted it to look elite to be honest, i mean half the fun is knowing your army looks better than your opponents

Vriishnak, you're a nice guy, it's nice to be on a GW forum that doesnt mock if you're a newb, diss ideas as soon as they're brought up etc

I'll be sticking around for a while ;)

oh god

i soon have a 1500 vs 1500 vs 1500 vs 1500 points 4-way battle royal

should be fun mind

generally because im a jammy git and always (like 90%) end up casting black horror successfully slaying everything in my path :ph43r:

Edithax~

i'm sew going to watch family guy - i'll respond later if i can

Vriishnak, do you collect DE or just know all and see all B)

Yeah, it does seem that way sometimes. The guys at my 'local' GW are pretty cool, though.

Nothing better than knowing you modded and painted the model yourself, and it turned out great.

I try to help out where I can. It strikes me as really dumb that people will take the time to yell at someone for not knowing things, and still not give them the answer to their question.
The only thing that makes me ignore someone is if they make no effort to be comprehensible in their post. We all have to share the boards, might as well make them a good place to be.

Good to hear. It's nice to have people posting here, rather than a long list of idle boards.

I've been trying to set up some 4-way games recently, can't ever seem to have that many players free at once. Doesn't help that we only have 5 people with armies, I guess. :D
Good luck with the game.

More of a know-all see-all, I guess. B)
Between the players in our group we have most of the armies, and I try to read up on them. Never hurts that I play four or five different lists myself; it really gives you better perspective on what works and what doesn't, across all armies.

Anyway, keep gaming, and we're all here if you have any more questions.

Se7enalicious - October 25, 2003 02:02 PM (GMT)
Owned.

9:00am start on our GW table, 10:00 am its already just me (about 1250pts by then - lucky saving rolls :P) vs about 1000 points of High Elves

Guess what happened ;D

I win \o/ im the champion of the world :D

I have to play some guy in a 1500 vs 2000 point DE vs Dwarfs battle in like a fortnight to see if i am truly 'teh win'.

I proposed the Malekith/Cold one idea to GW and they said they'd like to see it, and came to an agreement of 600 points for them both (i didnt say at the time malekith was worth like 625 anyway

GW SAID SO  B)

^_^ Se7enalicious~

Vriishnak the Twisted - October 25, 2003 06:11 PM (GMT)
Good job on the win. Especially satisfying against high elves, isn't it? ;)

So now they're making you play a game at a serious disadvantage, against an army that's strong against yours? My dwarfs have never lost to DE...
Well, good luck with that game, too, maybe your dice will carry you through.

600 for Malekith seems about fair, since he does lose a lot of movement and gain stupidity, losing the dragon. Seems kinda fair that he'd get a decrease. Hopefully nobody will complain.

When you get the conversion done, I'd love to see a picture.

Arch-Seer - October 25, 2003 07:06 PM (GMT)
Great job! You should post a battle report on it.

Se7enalicious - October 27, 2003 11:59 AM (GMT)
as if my memory stretches to next weekend D:

all i remember is getting three successive black horror's on three successive tries

i think the looks on everyones faces was an accurate representation of the situation

one

one

one  (because i wasnt doing any of them on him  )

but as for the dwarves i'll try to post a report, that'd be cool

And Vriishnak - as soon as i can be bothered to make/paint the new malekith, i'll post a pic <3
