Title: My 500pts Mortals
9ine - May 28, 2007 11:39 AM (GMT)
Well, I've just begun a new force, which is a Mortal Chaos Force. Ive got two boxes of Chaos Warriors and the Rulebook, and have come up with the following list, all I need is a Champion:
Aspiring Chaos Champion @ 112pts
2 Hand Weapons; Armour of Damnation; General.
10 Chaos Warriors @ 200pts
2 Hand Weapons; Heavy Armour; Full Command
10 Chaos Warriors @ 180pts
Hand Weapon; Shield; Heavy Armour; Full Command
494pts
Watcha think? I'll be playing High Elves, Lizardmen and Night Goblins.

Wow, being a VC player myself, those are small units for so many points!
Either way, I don't think you got much choice as Mortal player eh. You could take a unit of Chaos Knights, but you'll probably hear the scream of 'cheese' in every corner of your game store.
I think you should quickly work yourself up to 1k of points and more, because I think this approach is pretty boring for you and your opponent. You just cannot offer enough variety for yourself and your opponent at this size with (Mortal) Chaos.
Cheers,

True. A 500-point warband of Chaos just can't have enough variety.
Most Chaos players prefer using a fast army (with knights and chariots), using warriors only as support. If you want to stick to infantry, I suggest replacing an unit of warriors with one of Marauders (they're so cheap).
And I believe Champions are too expensive if you have no character in the unit and/or if the strength of the unit's attacks is inferior to 5.

I think by champion he meant Aspiring Champion, the Hero choice.
I say convert one your warriors. They come in boxes of 12 right? Thats enough for one and a BsB technically.

Here I was talking about the Full Command of his units.

Burro got it right, as far as I know of. He has 2 boxes of Chaos Warriors now, but will have to buy a Chaos Hero blister to get an Aspiring Champion on the table.
Chaos Warhounds aren't very pricey, are they (I mean in game terms)? If not, I'd say swap a unit of Chaos Warriors for some Marauders, but take like 2 units of 5-6 Warhounds (30-36 points) each. This will help attack any war machines, and when you flank/rear charge the enemy with these critters you'll negate his ranks too! Off course, you'll have to combine it with a frontal charge from the Chaos Warriors or Marauders.

Well as a greenskin player I look at this list and think "Combat Res goes to me! MEEEEEEE!"
No, seriously, that would be my first thought. I'd say warriors are too expensive at this level. Go for marauders for sure. I don't know if you'll need hounds at such a low points level, but then it depends on what sort of force you expect your opponent to field.

If I was playing A 500pt list I would take a lvl 2 slaanesh sorcerer instead of a asp champion. And pray you have the illusion spell (the others are good to though...).
And i would only take one unit of chaos warriors, they're yust to expencive for a 500pts army. and take marrauders or a beast herd.

Ok...well, with June's £30 of Pocket Money I'm getting, for my 1000pts force (posting it in a minute):
Champ of CU
12 Daemonettes
The Month afterwards I'll get a unit of Marauders and work out a list with more men in.
