Title: Wars of Blood
Description: Story-style RPG
Arch-Seer - October 15, 2003 03:20 PM (GMT)
This is a story RPG. What you do is, create an army consisting of one Lord and 500 troops(not points!). Then, when all entries are in, you start story writing off of what the others have said.
My army:
Sylak the Cold, Dark Elf Highborn
-Cold One, lance, repeater crossbow, full armour
200 Spearmen
100 Repeater Crossbowmen
75 Dark Riders
50 Cold One Knights
40 Black Guard
25 Shades
10 Reaper Bolt Throwers
Thanks to Kjarl for the idea!
Aesgareth - October 15, 2003 03:50 PM (GMT)

300 Maurauder Horsemen
150 Knights of Chaos

50 Skeletons with bows
2 Screaming skull catapults

Swedishviking - October 17, 2003 02:43 PM (GMT)
Aahh! :o 300 Scorpions?? Hmm... Arch-Seer, don't you agree that all tomb king would ally? Wouldn't they?
Kingphesphestus - October 17, 2003 02:51 PM (GMT)
only if yuo bow down to the authority of the scorpion lord of lybrasia's envoy, king jericho
Arch-Seer - October 17, 2003 07:41 PM (GMT)
I will allow King's list, just because this is a story RPG, not stat based.
Swedishviking - October 18, 2003 07:41 AM (GMT)
*bows for king Jericho!*
:D
But when is the other thing, war of the sun gonna continue btw Arch-seer??
Arch-Seer - October 18, 2003 01:30 PM (GMT)
Today(I think). It a lot of work, rolling up 6 differant factions in one battle.
LordChilipepa - October 18, 2003 05:34 PM (GMT)
The Stegadon Brigade!
Following in Phesphestus' fine example (and because everyone loves dinosaurs - except purple ones that sing sick-making songs):
Teeniweeni
Skink Chief
Rides Stegadon
499 Stegadons.
Aesgareth - October 18, 2003 09:00 PM (GMT)
Please, people, can there be SOME FREAKIN' KIND OF POWER LIMIT!!!??? I mean, seriously, I could have just as easily made an army of bronzino's galloper guns led by a vampire lord, but that would just be stupid, much like some of the armies that I am seeing here.
Arch-Seer - October 19, 2003 02:12 AM (GMT)
Remember, this is basically just a story where we all pitch in our own part. Power, stats; they don't matter. It's just for fun...
Kingphesphestus - October 19, 2003 02:54 AM (GMT)
My army is themed on lybrasia where all the scorpions are, besides there is just for fun if you cant appreciate that don't join in, if you want me to hange it though fine i will
Aesgareth - October 19, 2003 04:50 AM (GMT)
Yeah, I understand that it is just for fun. I am not, by any means, a newbie to this sort of roleplaying.
HOWEVER, there still has to be some sort of limit imposed, because otherwise, people who think that fun=absolutely crushing all other players without any challenge, will be able to get away with whatever they want (such as adding DBZ-style characters to a swords-and-sorcery millieu)
Try to remember a few things; first and foremost being that Tomb scorpions/Stegadons are very rare, tomb scorpions due to the difficulty in creating them/locating them since they have been buried for so long, and Stegadons because they are so difficult to tame. Sure, there might be 300 Tomb Scorpions in Lybaras. And sure, a single Lizardman temple-city might have 500 stegadons. But would they really put every one of such rare creatures under the command of a single officer?
Also think about the fact that it would be just about impossible for the other armies to beat yours. I mean, come on, even 20 Stegadons could easily tear through hundreds of skeletons/dwarven warriors/maurauder horsemen. Try to think of the limitations in roleplaying a battle against such a force. Think of how many troops it would normally take to take such a creature down. (I mean, stegadons are what, 200 points? That's a whole elite unit, right there!)
You see, I understand that it is just for fun, and therefore, I have come to the (quite logical, I think) conclusion that it wouldn't be very much fun to constantly have to roleplay "running away in fear" or "charging heroically and then getting wiped into paste." So yeah, I am asking you both to change your armies to something a little bit more representative of what an actual army of 500 men might look like. As I said, a vampire counts army of 499 galloper guns and a vampire lord on a zombie dragon would be perfectly legal under these rules (they are all on the vampire list, aren't they?) but it would be ridiculously stupid to have to fight against it, not to mention the difficulties in explaining how a bizzare army came to exist.
Tombguard321 - October 19, 2003 06:32 AM (GMT)
OK here is what am going to add to this, certain people are abusing this lol...........
Core 1- 500 troops no limits
Special 1- 300
Rare 1-200
That make it any fairer instead of composing a list of 499 Stegons !!!!!! also Swedishviking you can take more then two Bone catapults the limit is up 2 500 troops
Aesgareth - October 19, 2003 07:59 AM (GMT)
I really just want people to look at things logically and realize that an army that includes 300 multi-wound monsters won't be any fun to play against.
LordChilipepa - October 19, 2003 08:23 AM (GMT)
Whoops...
My army, for those who didn't get it, was a joke - I don't particularly want to enter. I guess I didn't make that clear on the post (forgot to put in [sarcasm][/sarcasm] I suppose).
Kingphesphestus - October 19, 2003 02:09 PM (GMT)
i wasnt posting in reply to you aesgarth but to lord chilipeppa
who was obviously makeing a point against me, The thing is it dosent matter how many wounds my guys have as this is not stat based, and my army is logical as it is themed on lybrasia where the scorpions are common so i feel itis fine but more importantly it would be good to add to the story which is what this is, i would be happy if you took the galloping guns sounds like a fun story to me and thats all this is but since its caused such a problem i withdraw from it, and enter this
tomb king
100 swarms
10 tomb scorpions
90 tomb guard
300 skeleton archers
p.s To lordchillipeppa a better way than writing sarcasm might be to make constructive post rather than put other people down since there is a vast difference between 499 stegadons and 300 tomb scorpions so dont clutter the thread with it. i mean aesgath at least is participating so has a right to complain

| I don't particularly want to enter |
then why post it just to try and ruin it for those who do?
Maelduin ab Sardis - October 19, 2003 03:53 PM (GMT)
Just becaus I'm an irritating person: does this imply I could throw in 200 shaggoths? B)
Arch-Seer - October 19, 2003 03:59 PM (GMT)
Stats do not matter! Aesgareth, you brought up stats again...
Chili, your army was fine. And so is King's. The hordes apon hordes of Stegadons could just as easily be "little babies", just as the scorpions could be larger-but-not-as-large as the models suggest.
No more entries! The game will start today.
LordChilipepa - October 19, 2003 07:05 PM (GMT)
I wasn't "trying to ruin it for the people who are taking part", I was pointing out the deficiency in the system by using the loophole to its extreme. You seem to have taken this as a personal attack - yes, your army was what prompted me to post, but purely out of humour and a will to point out the failing of the army selection system, and not in any way to put you down.
And gladly, for me at least my post has had positive results - have begun to develop "the Stegadon Brigade" for 3000+ pts battles. Three terror-causing, stubborn stegadons, moving and attacking in tandem, generating 3D6+3 S5 hits as well as 12 WS3 S5 and 18 WS2 S3 attacks when they strike, carting around three move-and-fire-bolt throwers - that's just sweet.
Arch-Seer - October 19, 2003 11:24 PM (GMT)
As of now, IC and OOC apply. Remember, please try to stay IC during each of your posts. And keep everything realistic.
IC- Your factions have been traveling the Chaos Wastes for many months now, scouting, mapping, and slaughtering across the land. It was barely night when your sentries heard the sound of hundreds apon hundreds of armoured and obviously well disciplined troops. When first light spread over the flat land in front of you, all were in ale, as several other armies, all as strong and organised as your own... What do you do?
OOC- Please to try to stay relatively close to the central battle(if that is what everyone decides to do).
FREE POST!
Aesgareth - October 19, 2003 11:43 PM (GMT)
Kragus motioned for Ghornak, one of the many tribal chieftans under his command, to approach.
"These foes are very numerous, and I doubt that it would be wise to attack now. Order your warriors to form small groups and scout out the enemy positions. I must know more about their emplacements and defenses before we mount our attack."
Ghornak bowed.
"It will be done, exalted one."
Kragus nodded curtly and then went back to watching the milling ranks of the enemy force forming up for battle. But with him, or with others? He needed to know more....
Arch-Seer - October 19, 2003 11:50 PM (GMT)
OOC- Just alittle about the environment; The south and southwest is all one big plateau, with shallow trails leading upwards. The west to north is a giant forest, which entends many miles outwards from the battle. The northeast to east is all flatland. And the southeast has pockets of trees, with many hills.
It is first-come first-serve to post where your armies are stationed, so hurry! I will take whatever is left.
Kingphesphestus - October 20, 2003 12:10 AM (GMT)
King jericho smiled to himself, he would make sure these fools paid for there arragance, with a gesture he commanded his armies to take the flatlands to the north east where he could organises his army into his favoured formation
'The wall of jericho"
Arch-Seer - October 20, 2003 01:04 AM (GMT)
IC- Highborn Sylak straightend on his Cold One, angling his lance upwards. He surveyed his Knights, then to the battlefield ahead. "Commander, please order my Shades to scout out the other armies before we get too close." A Cold One Knight quickly saluted, pressing his gauntled fist against his chest, then turned his mount around, trotting towards the Shades in the back ranks of the division.
OOC- My main army is off of the battlefield, to the far South. The Shades are traveling clockwise, from the South.
Aesgareth - October 20, 2003 04:00 AM (GMT)
My army is positioned on the flatlands to the northeast, with small groups of maurauder horsemen travelling up the footpaths to scout out the enemy forces...
Kingphesphestus - October 20, 2003 11:54 AM (GMT)
ooc since my guys and aesgarths guys are both going for the north east do we fight?
Arch-Seer - October 20, 2003 07:15 PM (GMT)
OOC- If you want too! It's all in the text.
Arch-Seer - October 21, 2003 01:27 AM (GMT)
OOC- Ok, its my turn.
IC- Sylak smiled as his band of Shades returned to report the scoutings. "Only a few other bands have been sighted, my lord." Sylak dropped his lance for a slave to catch and carry, turned to his personal Black Guard contingen, then ordered the immediate fortification of the plateau.
OOC- The spearmen have formed along the edges of the platuea, triple the numbers at each trail entrance. The Crossbows have formed ranks behind the spearmen in squads of ten. The rest of the army is half a mile inland.
Swedishviking - October 21, 2003 05:11 PM (GMT)
ic: King Terame was standing emotionless, looking for the enemies of his race. A hill..
"Soldiers. Position yourselves at the hill." he commanded, with a slow, rasping voice.
ooc: My army will position itself at the hills you spoke about!
Arch-Seer - October 25, 2003 12:25 AM (GMT)
OOC- On to War! The only rule for waging battles and war is that anything over the top or downright impossible will be voided. I will be the mediator to any battles, except ones that involve me(a vote will be taken instead). Good luck!
IC- Sylak ordered a 10 unit of Shades to scout the area and pick off any straglers. The general militia of spearmen and repeaters retained their formation, while the elite units move up to within a hundred feet. Sylak called for his loyal Knights to accompany him for an expedition. It was barely night when the Highborn and Cold One Knights started their trot towards the hills.
Kingphesphestus - October 25, 2003 06:13 AM (GMT)
Seeing the chaos things marching towards his position King jericho sent some tomb scorpions to detain them while he finished organising his troops
Swedishviking - October 25, 2003 03:56 PM (GMT)
ic: "Fire at will, loyal soldiers." Terame III commanded, as he joined his Tomb Guards, who guarded the skeletons with bows.
"Skeletons. Protect the catapult. Ushabti, protect the archers together with me." He said, slowly, in his rasping voice.
Arch-Seer - October 25, 2003 05:57 PM (GMT)
IC- Sylak watched from a distance, and frowned when the forces of the Tomb Kings, who were stationed on the hills, raised their bows and armed their catapults to his squad. " I guess they can't be used to our advantage..." he said to his commander. He signaled for a runner. "Bring them!" he yelled as the runner approached, and within an hour, the bulk of the Dark Elves force was standing barely outside the range of hundreds of gleaming, dead soldiers.
Swedishviking - October 26, 2003 08:20 PM (GMT)
ooc: Ahh, attacking me, are you?
ic: "The elves are wishing to make us rest loyal soldiers. We wait up here, and fire when they walk towards us." the king commanded, but while he did, he chanted slowly, making the arhcers move a few steps forward, and then firing at the elves. However, they were still not close enough..
Arch-Seer - October 27, 2003 10:47 PM (GMT)
IC- Sylak ordered the advance quickly. As one, the entire army present rouse and formed into their units. Then they charged headlong, first at a jog, then at a full fledged run. The Repeater crossbowmen and Reaper warmachines stayed back behind the main units, but well within there range. Hundreds apon hundreds of bolts were fired into the ranks of the undead, along with the occassional giant spear. Sylak was the first into the battle, spearing a skeleton with his lance... "They cannot win..." he thought aloud. "Slaughter them!"
OOC- 20 Skeletons dead from missle and lance.
I will let you make the first melee combat move.
Aesgareth - October 28, 2003 09:21 PM (GMT)
OOC: A bit confused here. Are Jericho's scorpions attacking my maurauder horsemen scouts?
