Title: BLACK ORC BOSS
Description: The Boss of my new Black Orc unit.. pics
Burp Foulbreath - September 19, 2005 11:15 AM (GMT)
The Boss for my new Black Orc unit. The whole unit will have this red and rusty armour (My army colours are black and red) and I didnt want to have black skin but this shade of green is very much darker than my regular orcs and gobbos.

Black Orcs get the best armour and so I have characterised this by putting red n black checks here and there; something that I will do throughout the entire unit but nowhere else in my army (so the Black Orcs know 'day is da best')

I used a dark silver metallic paint and put lots of brown washes into the chainmail to make it look rusty.

And 'Burp's TOP TIP' today is to get a tiny tiny brush (I have a '00000' watercolouring brush) With this put tiny lines of bright silver here and there to make it look like the armour and other parts (axe head and shaft) have been scratched by the battering of other weapons; an easy and effective trick that makes your model look as if it has been fighting.

Burp!

Looks good: the only confusing thing is the skaven icon on the axe :S

One should never ask a Black Orc where he got his axe from B)

The true question is how could a skaven weild such a hugemungous axe. The model looks really good though. Is it just a stock Black Orc w/ Great Weapon or is it the champion or what?

He's just the unit 'Boss', the rest of the lads will be wielding additional handweapons but the Great Axe makes him stand out as the leader... and anyway, dem Rats nick all the good glyphs, we're nicking this one back!

 I really like the skin, well done. The armour is also great, if not a bit shiny. But you got a great strong red and the nicks here and there look good.I also like all the little details you did, like wirite belch on his armour plate, and do nicks on the axe hilt and the brass jawplate is just fantastic. My only compaints, are the adequate base and the fact that he might not stand out too much as a boss, so you could of maybe used a few rocks on his base/maybe give him a back banner?

Dude come on, you can't give us that kind of base after teasing us with the waywatcher Lord's one. It's just completely unacceptable.
Model-wise, fantastic as always, though to me the checkers might be a bit too much, as in there's slightly too many of them. They're nice, but when you first glance at the picture of the front of the model and see all of them... well I was kinda reminded of a plaid shirt I had a while back
But it doesn't detract much from what is a great model. Keep it up. :D

:orc: grumble grumble grumble...
I only do nice bases for individual characters; for units I dont bother,.. he's going to have a massive standard bearer to the side of him and a drummer to the other side (who's gonna be looking at there feet?)
