Title: Conflict list
Description: advice

*OTHER CONFLICT GOERS PLEASE LOOK AWAY NOW*
OK, I may or may not be going to Conflict London; also, I don't know when or where it is (OK, Ha Ha its in London; but that's a big place). So here is my 1500pt list I will probably take (assuming they play 1500pts):
Master moulder- light armour, whip, BoP, warpstone amulet
warlock engineer- all upgrades except pistol, storm daemon, dispel scroll
Warlock engineer- all upgrades except pistol, warp scroll, dispel scroll
30 clanrats- f/c, shields, spears, ratling gun
30 Slaves- pawleader, musician
17 night runners- additional h/w's, throwing stars and a nightleader :ph43r:
4 plague rat swarms- poison upgrade
21 stormvermin- shields, f/c, umbranner
5 Jezzails
OK, the items on the characters don't matter that much, they can be adjusted. The number of night runners can be adjusted to 20 but then all manouverability has gone. I understand this may be a tad SAD or CHEESY but as a first time goer I want to make a reasonable impression on the results board (I probably won't but I'll die trying). The only problem is this is all I have apart from a chieftain (converted, is that allowed as it is a different size base?) and 4 giant rat packs.
Suggestions welcome.

well you can have my advise if you want, so the characters look good but i would probally give the warlocks a different combo, have one with the SD and Amulet while the other has 2 dispel scrolls, i suppose it means putting your magic defence all on one character but it's up 2 you.
as a general tip for most games i would not give the slaves a leader as instead you can have 2 slaves, whereas if you got a pawleader almost all oponents will challenge you and stamp on your lifeless corpse ^_^ .
also i would probally reduce the plague rat swarm to 2 in number as you will be unlikely to need 4, then with the extra points you can buy either more night runners so that you can have 2 units of 20 :D or you can add in something like the giant rat packs.
like the idea of fighting or die trying, sounds like something id do
hope i helped, farsight

Sorry for looking, but I thought I should tell you the info you need:
1. The tournament is at Alexandra Palace, on July 10th.
2. The limit is 1500pts. You may not exceed 1500pts, even by one point.
3. The army must be completely official, i.e. legal and complying with the Skaven list. The only alternative army usable for the tournie is SOC Eshin: Lustria Pestilens are too recent, and appendix lists are unofficial.
4. Every model in your army must be painted, with a minimum of three colours. You score points for painting your troops well, also for basing them.
I'll post the ticket regardless, and you can decide whether you want to go or not: it would only rot in my desk otherwise. When it comes, it'll have a full list of every single regulation, and explanations of how the day works, but I've given you the important rules as regards army-building here.

OK, due to chili's conflict rules I will have to drop the slave champion as I am exceeding the 1500pt list by 2pts (tough break) either that or I will merely drop a useless lil' slave.
Farsight, good contributions apart from the fact I have discovered my deadline and there is no way I can raise the money to get another unit of night runners, besides, that requires another unit of clanrats which I never seem to fit in....
I like my large rat swarms; no one seems to fire at them as it is an automatic -2 to hit (skirmishers, small) and they hold up units forever. However, I am not fully aware of the killing blow ability, does it kill outright against multiple wound targets?
Lastly, the comments on the wargear for my warlocks. Believe me farsight, if I could fit a warpstone amulet on a warlock, I would but the general snatched it first, and he will be destroying any nearby chariots (potential strength 8); but that's enough of my tactics on such an open forum.
LordChilipepa - June 21, 2005 08:24 PM (GMT)
KB only works on man-sized targets. Hence, swarms are immune to KB, as are Rat Ogres, Giants and their ilk.

are you sure about that, i thought it was just -1 because their skirmishers, im probally wrong but just thought id let you know ^_^
The Albino Rat - June 23, 2005 05:30 PM (GMT)
I would drop the master molder. He would be much more usfull if there were other molder units in the army. I would instead recomend a chieftian.
Derek101 - June 23, 2005 05:45 PM (GMT)
A very good suggestion Albino, I can replace the moulder dude with a armed chieftain (same equipment, except 3+ save), one tiny pack of giant rat packs and I can keep my slave!
Only problem is, my master moulder is the best painted thing I've ever done and looking through the booklet, that really matters. :(
What do you think viewers?
farsight - June 23, 2005 07:46 PM (GMT)
so is my question just ignored then omid, is it only -1 shooting at the little critters or 2 cause their small??
Dreg - June 24, 2005 07:33 AM (GMT)
I think youll find omid is right that its -2 because there small as well as being skimirshers therefore the -1 add togther.
Derek101 - June 24, 2005 04:21 PM (GMT)
Mind you, I did look it up and in the modifiers section of shooting it said +1 for large targets but made no mention of small targets. (damn swarms, ruining this thread). Can anyone clarify this as it is sort of a draw in opinions.
P.S. Farsight, I sincerely apologise for not replying just the chieftain idea got me thinking.......
Dark Lord Joe - June 24, 2005 04:36 PM (GMT)
Why dont you read the Skaven army book? It will say there what the rules are.
Derek101 - June 24, 2005 05:05 PM (GMT)
I am afraid it does not specify there.
LordChilipepa - June 24, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
I think under the Swarm rule in the Rat Swarm entry the modifier will be mentioned.
Derek101 - June 24, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
It does, but it does not mention any modifiers. It is the same for all swarms, so anyone who uses swarms is it -2 to hit them?
I might put this up in the warhammer section as this is really stopping comments on the list.

yeah i am highly sure that all swarms do is allow others to shoot other them and only -1 because of skirmishers ^_^
still dnt need to apoligise, you were just busy
Derek101 - June 27, 2005 07:47 PM (GMT)
OK, update; regardless of swarms (I played with them the other day, they are so nifty :D ).
Mater moulder- Light Armour; Whip; Warpstone Amulet; Bands of Power
Warlock engineer- 1 Warpstone Token; ; Warp-Blades; Warp-Energy Condenser; Warp-power Accumulator; Dispel Scroll; Storm Daemon
Warlock engineer- 1 Warpstone Token; ; Warp-Blades; Warp-Energy Condenser; Warp-power Accumulator; Death Globes; Warp Scroll
If you look at the last warlock, I'm planning to put him outside my units, with the death globes, he'll be really good against cav, just hope he doesn't misfire!
30 clanrats- f/c; spears; ratling gun
I only wanted one ratling gun and would be much happier to put it with the clanrats rather than the stormvermin
30 slaves- musician; pawleader
3 giant rat packs
I don't know how but I managed to fit them in
4 poisoned rat swarms- pestilens upgrade
10 night runners- throwing stars
21 stormvermin- f/c; shields; umbranner
They may not need shields, but seeming as they are the only things in my army with heavy armour, they probably will gat shot at, so they need as much protection as possible. Also, I haven't quite got the hang of stormvermin yet, so advice is welcome.
5 Warplock jezzails
This is my updated army, all I have left is a chieftain and 1 extra giant rat pack, I don't think I will have enough money to buy anything else and paint it as I am rebasing my stormvermin, painting three more and an engineer.
