I'm going to be playing a 750-pt game against Skaven on Saturday. Here's the list I've come up with:

Scar-Veteran Ara-kor- great weapon, light armour, shield, Charm of the Jaguar Warrior, Glyph Necklace, Blessed Spawnings of Quetzl and Sotek
20 Saurus Warriors- standard, musician
10 Skinks- javelins, shields
10 Skinks- blowpipes, Scouts
3 Salamander Hunting Packs

Give me your thoughts on this list, please.

i'll give you my bit of advise as i play both skaven and lizards :P . right, the list looks good, i can't find any flaws at the moment, do you know what his force will be as then i can help you better, or at the least what does he have in his force e.g. ratling gun :o .

just try to watch your flanks with the skink unit with javelins so they don't flank you as thats what skaven do best, also try to not get lured into the pincer trap where he has a slave unit waiting which you charge thinking you will beat, then they flee and next turn you get falnked by two units :blink: . basically depending on what they take you are fairly likely to outshoot him with those three salamanders, best unit in the lizards army.

not much at the moment but if you can tell me what there taking i might be able to give you more help, farsight

Does the saurus really need all that magical junk (Glyph necklace, those spawnings)? Skaven aren't noted for long range shooting and AFAIK, the JSOD can charge further than a ratling gun can shoot. Also, if you're only going to use him to kill ratling guns and challenge skaven characters he shouldn't need it.

you will need the charm of the jaguar warrior item so you can move about really easily and get into a good charging position, the quetzl will boost his save- always needed, sotek will give you an extra attack when he charges- 5 attacks ^_^ , and finally the glyph necklace will definately be needed for the ratling gun, because the ratling gun can stand and shoot so as you just said if you charge out of it's range you will move in and get peppered by alot of shots so the 5+ ward will definately help you out alot. i do agree that skaven do not have any long range shooting (apart from the warp lightning cannon but that don't really count as it is not often taken- depending on your opponent of course)

anyhow if they have taken a cheesy army with 2 mages you can always take tepok instead of quetzl. a final bit of advise with your scar vet- try to manouvre him round the back of a skaven unit then wait till they get into combat and rear charge them as the +2 to combat res plus the wounds he's bound to cause should be more than enough to win you the combat ^_^
