Title: Should the WE be updated?
Arch-Seer - August 21, 2003 11:26 PM (GMT)
With the Ogres being released, should GW update the chronicles listing to keep WE players interested?
I think that is the least they can do. We have waited long enough for a army book, only to have it bumped back another year. The listing should only have minor changes thoguh, like more magic items and maybe some obvious refinement around the edges, but nothing dramatic like new units.
Drauthnir - August 21, 2003 11:34 PM (GMT)
They don't need to make a new all out revision. they should just add a few more items in a white dwarf. A few more items will keep them sharp for a while.

I agree with Drauthir, but i think the main thing i'd like is a new magic law
Imaginary - August 22, 2003 12:31 PM (GMT)
I think they should be updated, they could be A LOT better, in my opinion, like having a new magic law *nids in agreement with the others* and maybe more core units, the ones that are there now are too expensive and crap, cept for my archers...all thirty of them *grins* And yeah, I had more reason but my brain just went numb
(Hi, I'm Kayleena BtW, nice to meet you all *waves merrily and scuttle dances on the ceiling*)

Welcome to the forum Kayleena.
A new magic lore would be cool, but it could lessen the impact of the new army book. You have to have lots of stuff for people to really look forward to. The only difficult part about that is the Wood Elves lack of magic choices... Maybe if they add another spell like tree singing - a spell that you can decide to take instead of a rolled spell (instead of taking the first spell on the rolled list).
Gav said the book would be worth the wait. I'm sure the army will be awesome when it finally gets out.
Arch-Seer - August 22, 2003 03:33 PM (GMT)
A new lore would be over doing for a spark, but having a new spell that can be interchanged for the fist of any lore(or you could make it just Life and Beast to keep Archmages fluff-wise correct) would be a great additon.
A new unit would probably be over doing it too, just because they do need to save some stuff for the army book.
Maybe a refinement of the units would be better, like updated stats or upgrade choices.

(I posted this on the 2-page post too.)
If you have ener played Dnd's Chainmail miniture game(cheap rip-off of Warhammer), there elven forces were a mix of Wood Elves and Grey(High) Elves. That is what I would like to see.
You can choose a Druid Lord, or an Archmage;
A Glade Guardian or a Wardancer Champion,...
Then, you could have something like how Chaos is seperated into the mortals and Demons.
Wardancers are a core with a Druid or Wardancer Champion general,...
Glade Guardian are a core with a Archmage or Glade Guardian general,...

ummmmmm....... well...........
how can I say this.
I think they should put a knew unit in the chronicles, because.... Ah jeez. I hate to have to do this.
Christmas......2005 Yep, according to my information source, that's when the new army book is coming out
sorry guys, I feel for you, I really do.
btw if you already knew this, sorry to remind you of this depressing news, but I had to make sure you knew.

I don't think there should be another update before the book. As painful as it must be to wait, I'd rather have the team putting all of their effort into the final product rather than trying to decide what should be released now and what later. Besides, the current list is reasonably balanced with existing armies; I'd only want an update if they were falling behind like the Ravening Hordes lists were.

I've heard many rumors. I've heard that it may be out after the Ogre Kingdoms and I hope to god it is, because I'm going to start a WE army as soon as they come out. I've also heard that they've had trouble figuring out how to make a cloak for the plastic customizable models. But I've also heard that when they're done figuring that out, they will be out shortly after.
gandalf - October 25, 2003 11:09 AM (GMT)
Yes I've heard about Wood elves coming out after Ogre Kingdoms as well, Moonshadow, but IIRC , it may well also be after storms of chaos too. late 2004 at the earliest I'm afraid
Does anyone think that the new plastics could be for archers AND Glade Guard or one for each?
Swordsalot - November 5, 2003 03:51 AM (GMT)
It's really hard to tell. Although they could both use the same torsos, it might be hard to get about 4 sets of arms (WE archers aren't like goblin archers where you put a bow in their hands and they're suddenly archers. They need to look like they know how to use them too, like in shooting pose) in one box.
I'd say that there would be 2 boxes, one of each, with some crouching in the archers, maybe a torso with chainmail in the glade guard, slight variations on the accessories, and make them fully interchangable.
I hope there's a Glade Rider box too, as it would be useful for not only the wood elves, but also as a good base for DE / HE conversions.
BTW: having trouble with cloaked torsos is a pretty weak excuse. AFAIK, the 'new breed' of GW kits have the legs and torsos attached anyway, so they could have a flowing cape attached to both parts.
