I am thinking of another army to get. I was going to get HE but recently I have started to view DoW as a proper army and it could challenge my conversion skills.

Anyway, here is my 1500pt DoW list:

2 Hierling wizards- both lvl. 2
1 Paymaster- hvy armour, shield, longbow, barded steed. (goes with the hvy cavalry)

10 crossbowmen
10 crossbowmen
20 pikemen- hvy armour, fc
9 heavy cavaliers- barded steeds, fc, warbanner
5 light cavaliers- bows
5 light cavaliers- bows
8 duellists- pistols, additional h/ws

and the unit I am personally excited about.....

I personally think this is a fast, manouervarable (spelt right?) adjustable able to attack, or defend and then counter charge army, with enough magic, shooting and combat. Also, note that there are no magic weapons; that is because I don't know the magic items allowed and the character's points limits.

Also, It is tempting to collect because I don't need to waste £12 on a book as the GW site gives you all the rules to download (legal :lol: ) I just need to know some advice on my list before I maybe buy it.

First, some major Errors on the list.

1. You have no heavy power such as cannons, so you will struggle against heavily armoured units such as knights as the crossbows are only -1 armour save.

2. I would sacrifice a unit of crossbowmen and light cavalry for a unit of pizarros lost legion. You still get the crossbow shots and also have another solid block of pikemen to have 2 solid infantry units. You will need 2 as one unit will be flanked and destroyed easily.

Now to tactical advice

1. I would set up your pikemen in the middle of the board with the crossbowmen either side and the duelists behind to deal with any flanking units and to counter charge with.

2. I would use the Birdmen to flank the enemy and leave the fast cavalry in reserve to supply counter charges and deter flankers as that is the one thing you dont want to happen to your pike men, to be flanked.

3. The heavy cavalry i would use to destroy enemy firepower uniuts as they are a major threat to your pikemen.

2 small things in addition to what snotty said why does the paymaster need a longbow, seems a waste of typing rather than points though.

Is 9 Heavy CAVALRY (not cavaliers) a bit excessive?

Otherwise its preety gud.
