Title: Q&A For Dwarfs
Steve The Rash - April 14, 2005 05:24 PM (GMT)
Sinse there isn't a topic like this I thought to create this topic for everyone who has questions about dwarfs.
I have questions to so...
1)Can i put a thane in a miner unit and use their underground advantage?
2)If i put on a great weapon the Master rune of swiftness and Rune of furry. Will my dwarflord hit always first with an extra attack and with +2 strenth?
That's all for now.
King Ulrik Flamebeard - April 14, 2005 09:50 PM (GMT)
1. No; miners cannot have heros attached of any kind.
2. No; as stated in the rules for runes adding a rune to a mundane weapons makes it magic and overrides it's previous properities. So as per your example; you'd have a hand weapon that strikes first with an extra attack.

Miners can have attached hero's,but you lost the underground advance rule.
Steve The Rash - April 15, 2005 06:39 PM (GMT)
Well these answer changes all my army list.Whatever.About anvil of doom; The magic runes can be cast on only one enemy unit or all enemy units enywhere on the table. My friends and i are confused about this .
King Ulrik Flamebeard - April 15, 2005 10:31 PM (GMT)
If you look at each runes (spell) description you'll see that it says the limits for each one, most can be cast anywhere on the board others you need LOS.

You don't understand me.I want to know if the spells can hit-effect all the enemy units. There are 5 spells i think which one can hit all the enemy units and which only one.
King Ulrik Flamebeard - April 16, 2005 05:00 PM (GMT)
Its one unit, as the runes say. You can target any single enemy unit on the table top or in the AoD LOS.

Steve The Rash - April 16, 2005 05:05 PM (GMT)
OK.Tnx.But the frase ''any enemy unit on the battlefield'' confuse me.
Now something else. You have to say how many inches are you going to move, whell e.t.c?
King Ulrik Flamebeard - April 16, 2005 05:35 PM (GMT)
Umm... that's less a dwarf FAQ and more a general FAQ; but ...
Yes you tell your opponent how far you moving and wheeling etc; Or I do. Its just so they know what you're doing and not cheating etc.

Steve The Rash - April 16, 2005 05:38 PM (GMT)
OK tnx. I will try to keep this post as a dwarf FAQ.
I promise :D
Vriishnak the Twisted - April 17, 2005 02:16 PM (GMT)
'Any enemy unit' has an implied number of one to it, as unit is singular. If it meant that you could hit more than one, it would either give you a number, or say 'all enemy units' that meet the restrictions it sets.
Steve The Rash - April 19, 2005 07:11 AM (GMT)
Oh, Tnx.I am from Grecce and some words are translated the same for us.''Any''& ''all'' it's the same for the greek language.

Can a gyrocopter stand and shoot? What armour save has?
Funky the Elf - April 27, 2005 02:56 PM (GMT)
A Gyrocopter can not stand and shoot. It has a 4+ save.
Steve The Rash - April 27, 2005 03:02 PM (GMT)
Tnx for the tip Funky.
(Well now it's more dificult to control this thing)
Steve The Rash - April 29, 2005 05:42 PM (GMT)
If the gyrocopter makes a full fly (20 inches) can i shoot with my stem gun?
Prince Cal - April 29, 2005 05:48 PM (GMT)
No, you can never march and fire. Wouldn't it be a good idea to read your rulebook though, rather than ask here.
Steve The Rash - April 29, 2005 05:54 PM (GMT)
I have read it but i don't know, if i make a full fly is like a marching.
(So i have to wait a turn to fire with steam gun right?)
King Ulrik Flamebeard - April 29, 2005 09:51 PM (GMT)
Yes it may, flying units don't count as marching.

Vriishnak the Twisted - April 29, 2005 11:21 PM (GMT)
Ulrik's got the right on this one, not Cal. Just in case you weren't sure.

If an elf lord has the talisman of saphery and his unit the banner of balance,my lord loses his runic weapon and the stuborn ability if he is with his bodygurds?
King Ulrik Flamebeard - May 3, 2005 02:27 PM (GMT)
Yes. The Talisman and the banner would do exactly that, but it's kinda a back combo simply because Hammerer's are hard enough to handle most things they come up against.

Ive got two questions too:
1) With the Anvil, do Dwarf players get D6+4 Energy Dice (D6+2 + 2 base dice) or are the base dice already included in the D6+2?
2) With the cannon rune that lets you reroll the artillery dice, can you theoretically reroll it twice in a round, one time when the cannon shoots and another when the cannon ball jumps, or is it an either-or choice?
Murmandus - May 6, 2005 09:33 PM (GMT)
1. As stated you only get d6 +2 as that is the power of the anvil. I believe your power dice are transfeered over to your dispel pool and thts why you get 4, im not sure, but i know you only get d6 +2 for the anvil
2. No as the rune is for the misfire table or the scatter depending which one you take.
3. i thought id tell you all something, ive been told about the new dwarf army book, and let me tell you the dwarfs are going to be hard core!
Steve The Rash - May 8, 2005 05:46 PM (GMT)
I think that the dwarfs with an anvi take d6+2+2 as they are the basic dices. The fact that they take 4dices for dispel is based on that they knows secrets for dispelling the spells.

What do you mean? Are going to be new dwarfs?
Prince Cal - May 8, 2005 06:09 PM (GMT)
It's not Morgrim, it's the fact that they have a natural resitance to magic. They need a runesmith if they wanted to know the secrets, not everybody understands them.
Steve The Rash - May 8, 2005 06:11 PM (GMT)
OK but do i have right in this?D6+2+2?
King Ulrik Flamebeard - May 8, 2005 07:02 PM (GMT)
1. No. The PD allowed to be used by the AoD are only the ones it generates - which is D6+2 - the two you get per phase may only be allowed to dispell RiP spells.
2. Yes. The RoForging says each time you roll a misfire you may re-roll it. With cannons you have two chances of this; on the first for the range, and then on the bounce. The rune allows re-rolls on both of these, in the same phase.

(Ps - Dwarf book... not til next ed. But rumours are about dwarfs will be one of the first armies redone)
Steve The Rash - May 8, 2005 08:35 PM (GMT)

Murmandus - May 8, 2005 08:37 PM (GMT)

Steve The Rash - May 8, 2005 08:49 PM (GMT)
A haaaaaa.Come on tell us.What sort of things?
Murmandus - May 8, 2005 09:06 PM (GMT)
i dont want to ruin the surprise, but ive herd that longrbeards are going to become an upgrade for warriors  :thumb:
King Ulrik Flamebeard - May 9, 2005 10:05 AM (GMT)
These are rumours and heresay, if you want to see the thoughts on the 'rumoured' revision then I suggest you got to Bugmans and have a wander about there.
But please keep the revision to another topic, this isn't for that.

Steve The Rash - May 9, 2005 11:29 AM (GMT)
Ok my lord ulric so this is my question; If i arm my lord with a rune weapon and a pistol, can i have the extra attack from the pistol?
King Ulrik Flamebeard - May 9, 2005 11:49 AM (GMT)
No. Magic weapons always take presedent, the pisol wouldn't be able to be used.
