BloodStained Puppet - June 29, 2003 10:10 PM (GMT)
But i dont know where to start!
I was thinking an army based on fast attack with a few decent defensive units to hold the line...But i dont know the point cost or skill of any of them and i cant find the book.If any of you know of a site with this on it..it would be much appreciated..
Or if you are bored and want to type it all out :P

Online store maybe. I couldn't really say though, as i have 3-4 GW stores within 20 miles of me.

White Dwarf has an insert that lists all of the stores that sell GW, and their locations and stuff. Check that out if you don't know where there are stores. Order stuff online in the meantime, if you can.
I think Dark Elves can be played with lots of infantry, or based on a faster idea. You could have something like:
2 units of corsairs
1 unit of spearmen
1 unit of crossbows
2 reapers
1 cold one knights
2 cold one chariots
1 executioners
2 Highborns (is that their hero?)
1 Sorceress
OR
2 units of dark riders
2 units of crossbows
2 units of cold one knights
2 reapers
1 hydra
2 sorceresses
1 highborn
Definitely get the DE army book and look through it a few times before making any purchaces, as GW stuff is extremely overpriced and you don't want to make any mistakes :)

i have gone with a fairly simple but very deadly list:
10 cold one kinghts with:
1 highborn
1 bsb (hydra banner - units gets +1A on first turn of combat)
2 units of 20 spearmen with sheilds (7pts each, or 8 with sheilds as well) - ok but faulter against any decent unit (high armour, strength or tougness)
2 units of 12 creapeter crossbows (great fun, not to great against high armour foes, although when on hills they are lethal (48 shots from both units) (11pts each, or 12 with sheilds)
1 unit of 18 executioners (11pts have great weapons and killing blow as well as heavy armour and WS5 - great)
2 sorcresses (dispel caddies as i face lizzies)
RTB (just to help the crossbowmen)
=2148pts
(PLEASE NOTE ALL UNITS HAVE FULL COMMAND WITH THE EXEPTION OF THE CROSSBOWMEN WHO HAVE NONE)
i did have dark riders but i found that i didn't have enough hard hitting units, like Executioners and Coldone knights.
if facing tough and/or armoured foes you really will need/depend on these harder units as spearmen just can't deal with big baddies very well. but then they are cheap
i hope this helps, just ask if you need any more help.
