Knights of the realm of course!

Well, you will need a paladin to lead your army, a battle standard bearer, and either one unit of knights of the realm and a unit of knights errant, or two units of knights of the realm. These you need to have a legal army, and from there, customize based on tactics; you will definately need either a unit of questing knights or grail knights (or both) to give you a heavy hitter, and then pegasi knights for extra speed and flanking. Look at some of the previous army postings around here to get some ideas on what to build with.

Yes, but the boxes are set figures, not your own personal army, but the one GW choose for you. Anyway it's a terrible way to start painting, around 6 units all at once, it's so much easier to buy a unit, make the unit, paint it, even do conversions, just make your army original.

To start a bret army I would go for 2 units of knights of the realm and a bsb and another character to lead them. Ten I would look towards add another 4 to all your knightly units and expanding to include grail knights or questing knights and pegi knights or mounted yeomen.
Sparky, please not advertising.

Don't buy Knights Errant. The Knights of the Realm are most expensive, but they're also more worth their points: for only +4 points, you have 4 WS instead of 3, 8 Ld instead of 7 and you don't have the stupid rule Impetuous. You may need archers for missile fire. They're not good, but they're cheap. Just don't waste too many points for peasants.
As Special Units, get the Pegasus Knights. They are powerful flying units able to deal great damage on the flanks of the enemy. They are also able to TAKE damage: they have 4 toughness, 2 wounds and an armor save of 3+.

You should buy the 100$ boxed set. You have access to exactly what you need for your army: 8 Knights of the Realm (powerful on the charge, they are the spine of your army), 16 archers (always useful since the Bretonnians don't have a lot of missile fire), 16 Men-at-Arms (useless in combat with WS 2 and Ld 5, but VERY cheap --they are a good living shield for your knights) and 3 Pegasus Knights (if you need hard-hitting and fast-moving attackers).

Here's a basic 1000-points army list:
-Paladin, barded warhorse, lance and shield: 80 points
-Paladin (Battle Standard Bearer), barded warhorse: 74 points
-8 Knights of the Realm + full command: 216 points
-8 Knights of the Realm + full command: 216 points
-16 Archers (skirmishers) + full command: 132 points
-3 Pegasus Knights + full command: 195 points
Total = 913 points

Use the remaining points for equipment.

And good luck. :thumb: May the Lady be with you.

also after you have finished those, you might want to invest in buying maybe a trebuchet, they can be really good when they hit where you want them to and you will have your enemy constantly worrying about it.....

Also you might want to get the pack which has 2 damsels, one on horse and one on foot

The Battalion box set. Easiest way foward, and you save a bout £10 if you were to boy the boxes normally. Then just buy your 2 characters, another knights of the realm box set, some grail knights, a trebuchet, and another character, and your almost much done.
