Title: OOC discussion for "Into the Kingdoms"
Description: Title changed as you asked, Goblit
Goblit Skullhelm - December 15, 2004 07:48 PM (GMT)
I've really enjoyed taking part in the World's Edge, and I've decided to start my own if there's enough interest (don't worry, Chili, I'm still doing TWE) . The game mechanics will be based on the Mordheim rules, although they'll be adapted to suit the RPG.
If you're interested in joining, please fill in this character form:
Name:
Race:
Occupation:
Personality:
Physical description:
Background:
Equiptment:
I'll take most races, within reason. The RPG is based in the ogre kingdoms, so I will accept ogre characters WITHIN REASON. You could have a young, inexperienced bull, but not a battle-hardened, giant-beating tyrant. Also, if there's something about the character you want hidden, I won't post it in his fluff until you want it revealed. See Dante in the World's Edge for an example of this.
Introduction:
In recent years, as the population of the Ogre Kingdoms has grown, raids into the surrounding settlements have become more frequent. After all of the nearby towns were razed to the ground by the ogres, residents of Durburg have demanded that their mayor takes action to protect their town. He has doubled the guard on the town, but has publicly insisted he cannot send an army into the ogre homelands. Behind closed doors, however, he has dispatched his most trusted squires with enough gold to recruit a small band of mercenaries to investigate the uncharted lands. A group have answered the call, and made their way to the mountain town for briefing.
Tsunami - December 15, 2004 08:21 PM (GMT)
I'm game, I'll post.....erm.....Friday? 'Cause school is being a huge pain at the moment.
Just curious, will we go level up the Mordheim way?
Prince Cal - December 15, 2004 08:31 PM (GMT)
Launcelot pappillion - December 15, 2004 08:35 PM (GMT)
I'll join too!!!
(pm send)
Ross - December 15, 2004 08:43 PM (GMT)
Goblit Skullhelm - December 15, 2004 09:55 PM (GMT)
Levelling up will be similar, but with a lack of warband ratings, etc, I'll have to change it a bit. Skill tables will be also similar.
I've received 3 characters so far, and I'll wait for Tsunami. Anyone else can feel free to enter, by PM preferably. First-time RPers are welcome too. :thumb:
Cheers,
The Green Goblit :orc:
Rogue-Gladiator - December 16, 2004 02:53 AM (GMT)
If I have time to throw a character together, I'll give you an interesting character.
Benedictus - December 16, 2004 05:28 AM (GMT)
I'll throw an interesting one in as well...but it's one you may not want in the party. :)
EDIT: Sent in. Enjoy.
Launcelot pappillion - December 16, 2004 09:15 AM (GMT)
how many players will you take all in all??
and who have joined, and been accapted so far?
Xarhain - December 16, 2004 01:16 PM (GMT)
I'll join!
I'm making out my character now, should add some more interest to the RPG ^_^
I'll send it tonight probably.
Goblit Skullhelm - December 16, 2004 06:21 PM (GMT)
Okay, so that's seven interested people so far, I've received characters from:
- Longdrong
- Launcelot
- Prince Caledorian
- Benedictus
I'm waiting on Tsunami, R-G (if he decides to take part) and Xarhain, but if there's anyone who hasn't posted here yet who wants to join then drop me a PM, I haven't decided who's in yet. Probably the best 5 characters will be chosen, as any more than that would mean the RPG would slow down for days waiting for everyone to reply.
I'll probably set a deadline of Saturday night (UK time) for characters, but if you want to join and won't be able to make that deadline then PM me, I'll see what I can do.
We've had an interesting mix of characters so far (ain't that right, Benedictus ;) ), keep 'em coming!

Well, I can confirm there will be more than two characters, so don't beat yourself up about it.

I know, its just that most of the people posting characters will undoubtebly have better characters than I so I'll probably be one of the poor souls who desn't get to join.
Prince Cal - December 16, 2004 07:17 PM (GMT)
I am quite hopeful. My characters are never that bad but occasionally like for the worlds edge I was busy so I threw one togethor but not this time.

Quick update:
I've received Xarhain's character now, so we're just waiting on R-G (if interested) and Tsunami, as well as anyone else who hasn't posted yet.
Characters are looking good so far, everybody chill! It's only a game, and I haven't decided the final list of who's in yet. Besides, those who don't make the cut may get a chance later in the RPG if people drop out.

Goblit Skullhelm - December 17, 2004 07:05 PM (GMT)
Sorry for the double post, time for an update though!
- I've received two more characters.
- I've finished the map, and I thought people might be interested to see it:

It's no masterpiece, but seeing as I had to use Paint (the program, not the stuff you use on your minis) it's not that bad. The "Dark Dwarf" stuff will be explained soon enough. ;)
The Green Goblit :orc:
EDIT: Aaaaaaaaargh! The pic's gone! I'll host it somewhere else.
EDIT 2: Okay, it's back. Thanks to Photobucket! :thumb:
Launcelot pappillion - December 17, 2004 07:25 PM (GMT)
ok, we will look forward to see it though (if you can fix the technical problems;))
Goblit Skullhelm - December 17, 2004 08:02 PM (GMT)
Okay, it's there now. I edited my previous post to show it.

Xarhain - December 18, 2004 12:41 AM (GMT)
^_^ I'm actually quite flattered by that Longdrong, thanks!
Goblit, that looks like a groovey map! Any clues on whereabouts the story will take those lucky enough to get in?

Ross - December 18, 2004 10:08 AM (GMT)
So when are we deciding on the final characters?
Oh yes goblit, may I add that my character has blue tatoos all over his body (can you guess waht it is yet?) in a swirly celtic design.
Goblit Skullhelm - December 18, 2004 10:14 AM (GMT)
The deadline for characters is tonight, so I'll probably announce them at about 12:01am!
The Green Goblit :orc:
Tsunami - December 18, 2004 11:23 AM (GMT)
Launcelot pappillion - December 18, 2004 01:08 PM (GMT)
a dark shadow reaches his hands out after a shining light
"Must.. be chosen......."
Rogue-Gladiator - December 18, 2004 06:10 PM (GMT)
I better whip up a character then... hopefully you'll have something from me in a few hours.
Launcelot pappillion - December 18, 2004 07:04 PM (GMT)
hey something just struck me.. (ok it took me a long time to figure out admited:()
12.01 am doesn't exist...... so what do you mean by 12.01 am???
Goblit Skullhelm - December 18, 2004 07:10 PM (GMT)
12:01am is the same as 0:01 on the 24 hour clock.
The Green Goblit :orc:
Goblit Skullhelm - December 19, 2004 12:06 AM (GMT)
The character announcement has been delayed until the morning because I've receieved another character and I can't be bothered to read it tonight (too tired ;) )
Sorry. :(
The Green Goblit :orc:
Goblit Skullhelm - December 19, 2004 10:18 AM (GMT)
Oops, triple post :(
I've decided on the characters for
Into the Kingdoms. I received 10 entrants, so I've decided to allow 6 characters instead of 5 into the RPG. They are:
- Benedictus as Globrin Spider-Friend
- King Ulrik Flamebeard as Skalf
- Lord Chilipepa as Marius Brossman
- Rogue-Gladiator as Sahra
- Tsunami as Rondis Goodbarrel
- Xarhain as Erik Stormbrow
Sorry to those who didn't get in, I really did have a lot of good entries. I might be able to get one or two of you in at a later stage if people drop out/die early.
I'll probably start the main game today, or at least get the characters up.
The Green Gamesmaster :orc:
Benedictus - December 19, 2004 11:20 AM (GMT)
Um. Does anyone else see the irony in the party containing a goblin and two dwarven slayers?
LordChilipepa - December 19, 2004 11:24 AM (GMT)
I think you may find yourself in...difficulties, Benedictus, as there's another dwarf as well if I'm not mistaken - "Rondis Goodbarrel."
Glad to see I got in :)
Goblit Skullhelm - December 19, 2004 11:25 AM (GMT)
You'll just have to be nice to them. Anyway, you were never really going to be in a party which would welcome the goblin with open arms, however "civilised" he is.
It'll make interesting reading - a bit of animosity never hurt anyone.
The Green Goblit :orc:
Benedictus - December 19, 2004 11:26 AM (GMT)
It's a test of everyone's role-playing skills. It'll be fun.
Maybe I should design a back up character, yes? :)
EDIT: And Chili- was there ever a doubt? Really, now.
LordChilipepa - December 19, 2004 11:30 AM (GMT)
Well, having checked the party roster I find Rondis is actually a human... so I'd put Globrin's chances at 10% rather than 1%.
I like his background. Should be fun. :)
Benedictus - December 19, 2004 11:35 AM (GMT)
10% is still a better chance than a low-level goblin wizard has in an orc army, AFAIK. But I'm glad you appreciate the background- I've been wanting to do something with Forest Goblins since I read about them...oh, around about lastedition years ago.
Hence, Globrin. Poor little guy's addicted to spider-juice and it's addled his brain.
Dunno what Chili's talking about below. I said Globrin first time, didn't I, friends? Yes, I did. Globrin. Goblit's the name of that powerful warlord out west, he is. Yup, sure is.
LordChilipepa - December 19, 2004 11:43 AM (GMT)
Goblit? You'd better watch out, likening the GM to your crazed little forest goblin... :P
However, come to think of it, if we come across ogres you'll be better off than the rest of us, as you can pretend to be a big gnoblar.
Goblit Skullhelm - December 19, 2004 11:45 AM (GMT)
| QUOTE |
| Maybe I should design a back up character, yes? |
No - no back up characters. Goblin stays. Goblin wins. Goblin kills ogres.
Seriously, I won't let them kill you just because you're a gobbo. At least, not right away. :P

You mean Globrin? I'm not addicted to spider-juice, just mushrooms...
The Green Goblit :orc:
PS BTW, seeing as there are a lot of topics on this board at the moment I'll just turn this into the OOC discussion. If Chili can add that to the title that'll be good.
Benedictus - December 19, 2004 11:49 AM (GMT)
I don't know what you're all talking about. I said Globrin. See above. See? Told you. That red writing, I didn't just do that. Nope. Wrote it the first time I did. Yup. Sure did.

Yup. I'm just a big Gnoblar. I'm on your side, big fellas. Really. See, I'm a gnoblar. No, I'm not very good to eat. I taste of...uh...spider. Really, really bad spider. Icky. You don't want me.
Eat the dwarves. They're good eatin'. Yummo.

What? :)
