Description: *Goblit dances*

Goblit Skullhelm - December 11, 2004 10:17 AM (GMT)
As you may have guessed, I am now the proud owner of the army deal! Woohoo! The waiting was definitely worth it. All of the models are great (even the Yhetees which I was unsure about), and there are a lot of really funny touches on the models, eg, the gnoblars that come in ogre boxes mimic the ogres (the ironguts' gnoblars look like they have great weapons and heavy armour!).

And, of course, I now have the book. Teeheehee... if anyone has any questions (within reason, obviously), I can now definitely answer them - I'll just check in my copy of the book. :D

:thumb: Way to go, GW!

Only, one word.
YESSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!!
So finally, n00bs can go and get an army which is harder to win with than brets and I don't have to put up with any more units of 12 grail knights and 15 Knights of the Realm.
A happy cally.

Rogue-Gladiator - December 11, 2004 01:53 PM (GMT)
Just out of curiousity Cal, have you ever contributed something that was beneficial to this forum, or do you just come in here and complain about or bash Ogre Kingdoms when you get the chance?

Anyways, I had a question on Ogres. I'm still kinda hazy on how their magic works, and would like a little input on that. Thanks.

Goblit Skullhelm - December 11, 2004 03:23 PM (GMT)
Okey dokey, gut magic...
  • Each butcher (hero) and slaughtermaster (lord) knows all 6 spells
  • The first time per turn you cast a spell it's on a 3+, the next time you cast it that turn it's 6+, then 9+, etc.
  • Butchers count as lvl 2, Slaughtermasters as lvl 4 for the purposes of power & dispel dice
  • Opponents can dispel any gut magic spell in his own turn as if they were Remains in Play spells at power level 7

I really doubt I'd be allowed to post the spells here, but if you want I'll email you.

Do you own a scanner. If yes then do you think you could scan the rooster sheet in, so i can see all the stats in English.

I have seen the book as well. It is cool. I like the speacial characters. The one with T6 and is it W6 and I1. He is very fat but cool.

The_Eye - December 11, 2004 06:06 PM (GMT)
Goblit, what do you think of the stats of the combat lord(forgot his name)
I mean, he has s5, t5, w5, a5, a bit dissapointing don't you think?
He would really lose of a vampire lord, a vampire lord is even better, only the vampire has one wound less..
I expected something better from the strongest oger out there....

That would be the biggest possible copyright breach I could do. So no.

Well, those are the basic stats (which aren't exactly terrible, BTW), and then you can give him magic items and big names. A tyrant with the thundermace (S8, no saves, D6 wounds) and deathcheater (once per game one enemy must re-roll successful to wound rolls) should take down a vampire lord in single combat. :thumb:

What's a gobling? Sounds kinda like a goblin... anyways, gnoblars are Ld 5.

QUOTE

A hunter can take two sabretusks. I can't give you his/their whole stat lines, but he has one more wound than a regular ogre (use the statline from the DOW ogres on the GW site), and is S5 T5.

I'm not really sure how much detail I'm allowed to go into on questions like that, if a Moonshadow or a mod could let me know I'd be grateful. Cheers. :thumb:

Ah so it came then?

I'm expecting you not to be in school on monday ^_^ . Should be at home modelling

Which begs the question.. where the hell have I been the past half a week. the answer is.. drowing in my own flem (sp?). I actually thought I was dying at one point, couldn't breathe (no joke). I managed to catch some huge virus or something...

On the up side, I managed to paint my runepriest and finish off my wolf scouts you'll be glad to know! ^_^ . And again congrats on the OK stuff. That means its now around 363 days till Wood Elves!! :D

:D

Health Hazards - December 12, 2004 06:35 AM (GMT)
Lol.

Also, what do the spells do? I had a look at the book, but never got to see the spells.

Also is it true that ogre regimenets get Impact hits or something like that?

Actually, I'll be in hospital having nice nurses fiddle around with my broken toe. :D

Nice *pukes*

QUOTE

If an ogre unit contains 3+ models they get a special "bull charge" impact hit per model in the front rank at their base strength. If any ogre has another ogre ranked up behind it their hit is at +1 strength, and if they have another behind that its another +1, etc.

I'm not sure how much I can say on something like that - I PMed Moonshadow yesterday to ask him how much I can tell people so when I get a reply from him I might be able to tell you. :thumb:

I would be intrested in that as well. Maybe you could do it as part of the herald?

Goblit Skullhelm - December 12, 2004 09:53 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I'd be happy to if people are interested. I started painting my first bull tonight, so if I stick with the scheme I'll post a pic.

Re: the herald - isn't the next issue in february? That might be a bit late.

EDIT: Ooops, forgot to answer your question Longdrong. They're on 40x40mm. The conversions sound cool, post pics!

Benedictus - December 12, 2004 10:07 PM (GMT)
I'd say that those are just the....thingies. The Ogres that mimic other cultures. This one happens to mimic the Cathayan assassins.

Dreg - December 12, 2004 10:16 PM (GMT)
Ok i didnt know about them but wouldnt they have soome sort of rules (if u want a pic of one look in WD300 pg37 is the msot recnet jsut so u knwo what i mean), i hope Gw has came up for a way that they cna be used in gmae lol.

Waaaaaaaay ahead of you, buddy! :P I've already started greenstuffing the rocks on the bases, then once they're all done I'll go back and make little lava bubbles.

10 issues? That's twenty months! I think I'll just make a thread in here then update it every two-three weeks. Maybe I can rope Xarhain into doing a battle report with me for it...

It was once a month or there abouts then.

How many Herald issues were there? I can only find two...

Back OT: I've finished the first bull ogre, and sculpted three bases. Piccies soon :) And I've painted a gnoblar trapper, if anyone cares.

Nah, my ogre's a nice darkish grey tone (it fits more with the mountainous terrain than a regular 'oomie flesh colour IMO) not their odd skin colour, although that does look better in person and in the book.

Still prefer mine though. :D

Just a quickie: Can you confirm that Ogres get rank bonus?

Congrats on getting the army boxed set :D . BTW what are their colour schemes like, any alternate ones in the back of the army book ;)

Enjoy!!!

I can indeed, although it'll cost you 140pts in a bull unit - worth it?

QUOTE

Yes and no - there are alternate colour schemes but only the warpaint/armour is different (all the skin is the same).

D6 impact hits, can always march, 5 sword gnoblars, S10 D3 wounds mace.

Ouch.

How expensive is he?

Goblit Skullhelm - December 14, 2004 07:12 PM (GMT)
565 and 2 lord choices. I forgot to say, he gets 3 of those mace attacks and he counts as a BSB.

The Green Goblit :orc:

Wizzbang da Powa Squig - December 14, 2004 07:16 PM (GMT)
only 565?? That sounds pretty cheap for something that can deal S10 D3 hits and stupidify everybody

Goblit Skullhelm - December 14, 2004 07:18 PM (GMT)
Yeah, but he's two lord choices so you can't take him 'til 3000pts. By 3000pts you'll be fighting against dragons, lords on flying monster mounts, lvl 4 wizards...

You get a discount because you're missing out on so many other options, basically.

The Green Goblit :orc:

Health Hazards - December 14, 2004 07:22 PM (GMT)
He is nasty. His movement is low though, well for an ogre anyway.

What sort of war machines do they get. Is it only the leadbelchers or do they get more?

Ross - December 14, 2004 07:29 PM (GMT)
they get the scrapalauncher,a stone thrower that chucks junk at the enemy.also counts as a chariot

Goblit Skullhelm - December 14, 2004 07:29 PM (GMT)
QUOTE

At first, yes, but once you get up close he can always march anyway so it almost makes up for it. Almost.

QUOTE

Well, leadbelchers aren't technically war machines but they get the scraplauncha, which is basically a strength 3 stone thrower (with killing blow), on a chariot pulled by a rhinox (a cross between a rhino and a mammoth).

EDIT: Pah, beat me to it Longdrong!

Incidentally, does anyone remember the night gobbo army in WD about a year ago (in the UK, at least)? Anyway, the army was a goblin scrap-merchants army led by "Ma the Grub." According to the army book, the scraplauncha was pioneered by Ma, self-appointed king of the gnoblar scrappers. Coincidence? Does it matter? Not really, I just wanted to let everyone know I found it first.
