Title: RIP Valten
Description: Bah Humbug...

Wizzbang da Powa Squig - November 9, 2004 07:33 AM (GMT)
does anyone else agree this was a huge anticlimax? Think of all the drama that could've been achieved if Karl Franz bought it instead. civil war, political factions, you name it! Plus it would've been cool to have another sigmar-like guy on the throne. Anyone second that?

No. Death to Valten, I say, death to him and his suddenly appearing beard.

I put my word behind that as well.

me too, I always disliked valten's fluff, and his models too :P

Lord of Nonsensical Crap - November 9, 2004 05:53 PM (GMT)
Wait. . . . Valten is dead?
Lemme guess, Archaon killed him?
Either way, Valten has now earned his title as "shortest-lived special character made by GW" (After Garagrim, that is)

Goblit Skullhelm - November 9, 2004 06:33 PM (GMT)
Shortest-lived, and most-models in a short time.

FOUR models in about 8 months, and now he's dead? Madness...

The Green Goblit :orc:

Too bad Archaon lives to tell the tale.....

Wizzbang da Powa Squig - November 9, 2004 09:41 PM (GMT)
ah well, looks like everyone hated Valten right down to his beardy beard :P
I agree with not liking the Super-uber stats, but he was designed purely to defeat Archaon (which he didn't). I guess you have to fight fire with fire.

I quite liked his fluff though, and keeping him alive would've made the story more interesting IMHO

Well, perhaps he isn't dead. It says that Huss found his body, but perhaps, seeing that Valten's presence was causing major strife and could have potentially caused another civil war (War of the Vampire Counts anyone?) Huss and Valten decided it was best Valten 'dissapeared'. So they set the whole thing up, and Huss has actually hidden Valten somewhere, or something of that sort. One never knows. Either way it is fun to ruminate ;)

Perhaps there will be a Valten version 4 - the return of the chosen one ? With an even longer beard

Wizzbang da Powa Squig - November 9, 2004 10:19 PM (GMT)
Yeah I considered that, but why would Huss (being a religious fanatic) want to let Valten hide when he thinks Valten should be sitting on the throne?

I guess it's possible, maybe he's hiding with the dwarves and trying to fit in with them :P

Perhaps he feels it is 'not time'. Or perhaps he thought that the resulting arguments/civil war could bring the death of Valten or perhaps Valten himself chose to leave and instructed Huss to make it seem like an assasination (he would most probably obey the supposed 'reincarnation of Sigmar'). Perhaps Huss caught word of a planned attempt to assasinate Valten, so not wanting to see him perish, faked his death. Oh, so many possibilities. I wonder if GW will be sly enough to make something of this. The way they portrayed his death was a bit suspect, the whole 'his body was gone' when Karl Franz entered. Hmmm......so many loose ends.

I like to imagine that the whole SOC campaign never happened. It was all a bad dream. A few bad clams, perhaps?

hmmm very cunning observation daemon baby....It's very possible I guess, I just didn't think a religious nutter like Huss would tick that way. perhaps he listened to his better judgement and Valten is living as a goat in the mountains somewhere :D

We can only hope. A goat Valten would be most interesting (and an oppurtunity for another model! ). Indeed 'twould be a more fitting form for the 'wonder boy'. I wonder, perhaps he has gone out to find Skeletor. :D (reference : He-Man) Wouldn't surprise me. I don't think any of the stories GW come up with can anymore (after the SOC conclusion).
