It's an illegal list I'm afraid. You've used 1 Lord and 4 Hero choices, making for a total of 5 characters (effectively) which is illegal at 2000pts. I'd suggest moving your Vamp down to a Count to make it legal.
You're also 8 points over, drop a zombie from each unit and one from the Grave Guard to make room for your necros to rank up neatly.
With the points saved from making your Vamp a Count and these unit trimmings, I'd get in another support unit like Dire Wolves or Ghouls, or possibly a Banshee, if you have the points.
Just my thoughts,

Actually as confirmed by the Rules boys you are allowed to field a total of four character MODELS. A vampire lord does cost a lord and a hero slot but it is only one model and therefore the list is legal. :D

nope it's illegal... Try it at atournament and you'll see...

Thanks to Maelduin for agreeing with me. You really shouldn't listen to the Rulezboyz, half the stuff they spew out is wrong. Definitley an illegal list.

Actually a list using the advice in question was successfully used in a rogue trader tournament. It's quite solid.

I have no doubt as to how solid the list is. It's just that it is illegal unless it is a 3000pts army. You have five character choices when you are only allwed four: your Vampire Lord does count as two choices.

Ok I'm going to try and say this simply... You have 1 Lord slot AND four character slots BUT you can only field a maximum of four characters. This means you can field a maximum of four heroes or 1 Lord and three heroes or use all of the slots and get 1 Lord (who then uses the spare hero slot) and three additional heroes like I have. The latter has only fielded four characters and the list is totally legal. Also one of my gaming friends has used a list using the same understanding of the hero slots in a tournament without any troubles.

*sigh*
read the part on choosing characters carefully invulnerable one
Or even better, try it at a GT, that should solve the problem for us.
Let's run over it again:
1) in 2000 points you get 4 slots
2) One of these can be a lord, but doesn't have to be
3) A vampire Lord takes up one hero and one lord slot - this lord slot also counts as one of your 4 slots, as is clearly stated in all the army books
4) thus, taking a vampire lord leaves only 2 slots left, not 3.
5) What kind of tournament was it? Was it offcial? Or just a club tournie where the umpire may have made a mistake...

Thanks again to Maelduin. The VC army book clearly states that a Vampire Lord takes two character choices. Thus, you have taken five, not four as you keep trying to convince us.
This extract is taken from the Vampire Counts Army Book, Page 62, about a third of the way down the left hand side of the page above the entry about Undead Steeds.
"A Vampire Lord is so powerful that he counts as one additional Hero on top of the usual Lord choice (ie, a Vampire Lord counts as both a Lord and a Hero choice)."
I don't think I can be any clearer than that, and really you don't have a leg to stand on now if you wish to argue this further.
