Already all that have read my post in the vampire counts section, know that am going to do Blood Dragons bloodline but looking at the archive for models am disgusted at the fact they all basically look the same (model on foot and mounted) so keeping that on mind, I am going to try convert one myself, here is what i have decided:

-Head and lance, from the Winged Nightmare boxed set (via mail order) while ordering Skeletons sprues :)

- Then buying the mounted and on foot Blood Dragons, The ones shown in white dwarves and mail order as being in silver armour.

- Filing off the mounted blood dragons head (ok, i am mean), then fixing the head from the winged nightmare set. Green stuff attack to fix anything that i need to.

Then i will Paint him at that point as before glueing the spear on.

- Purchasing some sort of chaos Blade but not to chaos just a really cool deathly blade (filing off the hand on the sword and converting a sword pouch to hand on the side of the Nightmare's sadle

That is what i am doing for my general (alot of work but as i said i really hate the range of Undead heros :)

P.S when he is finished and painted, he will make a appearance on this board keep your eyes open.

Update......

Also found sword borrowed from a Black guard champion
and a shield from the cold one riders (one with the skull on the side :) )

Overal anyone think this convertion would work?

I think it will work and should look good when it is done. It will also be a fresh site from the other Blood Dragon Vampires that GW produces.

Alternatively, I saw this on coolminiornot, convert archaon as a blood dragon with a Dragon Prince Head, a converted shield and the horse was zombified a bit as well as the ltd ed Emperor's champ sword. Not to say that yours won't be good to but its an alternative idea.

Anyway, I hope it turns out well and I only edited your post for it to be more organized and make a bit more sense as well as to fix a couple things that you did incorrectly. No harm done though eh?
