Title: Chaos Warrior Color Scheme
Moonshadow - June 6, 2003 09:47 PM (GMT)
What do you think of this color scheme? It's for my Chaos Warriors of Tzeentch. (It's the one from the book)
1) Undercoat with Boltgun Metal
2) Do wash of blue and black ink.
3) Highlight certain metal parts with Mithril Silver
4) Paint the edges of the armor Shining Gold.
Most of the other stuff is pretty obvious, like the horns and such. Have any of you tried this scheme or one like it? If so, do you think it looks good in the end?

It all seems good however I wouldn't black ink them if you are going to blue ink them as it may make it too dark and not turn out very well. If you need any more advice, feel free to ask.

Yeah, the black and blue ink mix may not work as desired. Maybe it would if you put very little black, but I've never tried the mix at all, so I'm going with guess work here. I would say do one or the other.

I just finished my first Chaos Warrior of Tzeentch, and it looks marvelous! I did a very light layer of black ink over the Boltgun Metal. Then I did two layers of blue ink over that. It looks blue, but not bright blue. It's just what I wanted. I mostly used gold for the armor outline, but I put a little bit of Mithril Silver here and there. Also, I was just wondering... do you think I should put any red on the Tzeentch Warriors' axes and other weapons to make them look bloody? I'm not too sure, because even though they're Chaos Warriors, I think the blood might take a little away from the majestic and regal color scheme. What do you think?

I think that adding blood on the weapons would make the model look messy so I vote no for goring up the weapon.

I would say maybe put blood on the axe of the champion, but no more than that. Too many bloody weapons could take away from the blue of the unit. It will also make the champion look that much more powerful compared to his underlings.

Thanks for the advice. I'll only give it to the champion. It will make him more distinguishable as the champion. (All the regular warriors have hand weapons and shields, but the Champion has a halberd, just to make him more distinguishable.)
