Title: Where would you put your general?
Description: Ironbreakers, Longbeards or... Hammerers

I know that Hammerers become Stubborn when joined by the General, so if you were to actually field Hammerers - then that would be the ultimate place to put your general, right? But, wouldn't that regiment be easily avoided by a fast, cav-plenty HE opponent? And what are the arguments for not choosing Hammerers at all (in a 2000p battle), and going for Ironbreakers, Longbeards, a Stone Thrower and two bolt throwers instead?

Basically, what I'm asking here is: which special choices would you go for in a 2k battle against HE, and where would the general go?

It depends on the rest of your army is it already posted?
anyway.
Hammerers are My favourite always have been
But if you feel sneaky you could always give your general the rune of kingship and put him in the longbeards
Then there stubborn immune to psychology and panic. ;)

Ok.

The rest of my army would look 'something' like this (Far from completion, and I have bought less than half):

*24 Warriors - heavy armor, hand weapons & shields
*24 Warriors - heavy armor, great weapons
*24 Ironbreakers
*24 Longbeards
*Two bolt throwers
*Stone Thrower
*Organ gun
*Characters

Put him with the ironbreakers and some good rune armour. also i assume you plan on attacking the enemy by marching at him in that case (if your not discount this) Take the rune of shielding to give him the missle ward save so he gets there.

Ok, thanks. That's what I had planned in the first place (due to the good save of the Ironbreakers) =)

I put mine in a unit of Longbeards. They are immune to Panic which isn't quite as good as the Hammerers Stubborn but it's better than nothing! I just like the longbeards the idea that they are old and wise a whiney is funny to me!

Sometimes a little tactic that I use is not to deploy my general in a unit at all but slightly to the side. He cannot be targetted by missile fire unless he is the nearest target etc and should provide a deterrent to even the hardiest of flank charges, this does need careful movement but it does work (sometimes)
