Title: A question
Description: about Sylvanian armt list

F値ar of the Shadowborn - May 28, 2004 02:38 PM (GMT)
I am considering starting a Sylvanian army but had a couple of questions. I've got the pdf list, but it's not very clear (at least not for me).

First thing is that you can have a thrall in 1k army to be your general right? Even though he can't practice magic.

Second, the grave markers; the way I read it is that you can cast From Death Awakened from each grave marker ech turn e.g. 3 grave markers is 3 From Death Awakened. Is this right?

Third if you take a lord (lvl 2 or 3), can you then still use the good old Invocation of Nehek or does the From Death spell replace it?

Last, if you can use Invocation, can you then also raise Militia and Levy with it or just ordinary Skellies and Zombies

Thanks in advance.

Right. Not like there's any mages to choose from anyway. ;)

Of course you can.

Just normal ones, by the wording of the rules. Of course, if you raise into an existing unit they're equipped the same as the rest, as normal.

Basically if you use the Invocation to raise a new unit you should raise normal zombies or skeletons if you use the invocation to add to a preexisting Levy or Militia unit you will raise levy or Militia....

Sorry about these added questions but I thought of them as I was reading this:

If you raise a unit from a grave marker, and then don't move it. Next turn you raise as well. Can you then add the second raising to the excisting unit?

And this is more a preference questions; would you take Zombies with halbers, or with hand weapon shield combination?

The rules are that models (note: not units, models) may be raised within 6" of the Grave Marker. Measure as appropriate. You may either raise a new unit, that's unit, within 6", or you may add to any existing unit within 6". That's the only guideline you need to check against.

Letter of the rules does not prohibit you from, say, raising the first model on the fringe of the 6" radius, and raising the rest of the models outside the normal 6" radius. Spirit of the rules is always open to interpretation, and I personally will never attempt to raise models like that. I feel it's keeping with the original intention to only raise within the range of the markers. Discuss this with your opponent before the game.

About the zombies: h.weapon and shield all the way! have the spears just in case, but because I believe you do not get the shield option if you pick halberds, and because halberds currently suck anyway, go with spears, and switch to h.weapons anytime you want.
