Title: Those who are about to die salute you!
Description: Arena (my first)

F’lar of the Shadowborn - May 16, 2004 08:16 PM (GMT)
This being my first Arena, I'm not sure on the rules so if you've got any comments or suggestions please tell them.

My main inspiration is from seeing Gladiator, hence the characters will be fighting at the same time. And maybe I will include some monsters.

I need six characters, these are the rules

* Point limit of 350
* No mounts with more than one wound
*Characters start 16" apart
*No bound Spells or nominate one enemy character items allowed
*All characters are Unbreakable
*Shooting and Magic takes place as usual.
*Just tell me what you will be doing each turn and I will write a story about it
*Turns are determined randomly

Other than that have fun!

Blessed by the Gods! Margraeus is extremely blessed by the gods. He has rose up after many fatal wounds, but he also strikes fast than anyone else. but due to his blessing, he might become confused from time to time, but most often his faith in the Dark Four saves him.
Crown of Everlasting Conquest and Helm of Many Eyes (Always strikes fast, stupidity, regeneration, 75pts)
The Shadow Sword The Shadow Sword is a really big sword gifted to Margraeus by the daemon prince with the same name. It has tasted the blood of many opponents, including even Crom the Conqueror! (6pts, Great weapon)

The crowd roared in excitement as the gladiators were led to their places. "Citizens of Carnii, you have gathered today to see blood she" the herald exclaimed as the crowd gave a roar of agreement. "On your behalf, the Emperor has donated two wyverns to us, that will fight in the arena with the gladiators. Bring forth the monsters". The crowd thundered in bloodlust as the wyverns, wings clipped, were led into the arena. "And now, citizens, I place on you a challenge. I challenge anyone that can hear this, to join in the arena, to fight for death or glory. I challenge you". With that the herald seated himself, while the crowd and gladiators waited for two more contestants to answer the challenge.

Swedishviking - May 19, 2004 01:32 PM (GMT)
Don't forget that you should in the end of the game roll a dice for the Warpstone amulet.. If it's a 1, he dies.

Thanks for pointing that out, I was already wondering how the item worked  .

Does this include the Death lore spell : Steal Soul ?

I've decided that the rule does not include the spell Steal Soul, as the reason I made this rule is that there are certain items that make you hit/wound or kill a nominated enemy character on a 2+. Steal Soul is no item and you can defend yourselves from through dispel dice.

After the statement of the herald the crowd was buzzing with excitment; who would accept the challenge. Suddenly a voice rang out; "I will acept the challenge." A figure dressed in black stepped out of the shadow. "I Lord Jusavane
declare that I will accept this challenge and enter the Arena." And with that he flung of his cloak and drew his diamond encrusted rapier. As Morgoth was busy sneering at the newcomer, he couldn't help the feeling that something wasn't right about Jusavane....

P.S. One more spot open, so be quick ;)

I assume that Morgoth is going to use his dispel dice ;) , but if anyone else wants to add theirs to the pile, I'll give you till Sunday as it's not a life-threatening spell for the most of us ;)

Shadowborn, i dont want to use my dispel dice. I rather use it when the other people cast more deadly spells. Anyways, fireball will do near nothing too me, I have a 1+ armour save after AS modifier and a 5+ward save against it.

elvesofchrace - May 22, 2004 02:25 PM (GMT)
curse you very nooby man

very nooby man - May 22, 2004 03:18 PM (GMT)

2) Verynoobyman: leave responses to the mods, and don't add kindling to the fire...

F’lar of the Shadowborn - May 23, 2004 09:45 AM (GMT)
As the signal was given for the start of a game where only one would survive, the newcome elven prince acted first.

Elannon drew upon the arcane energy and harnessed into an immense ball of flame and destruction. Straining his magic abilites to the utmost, he could feel how he was slowly lifted of his feet by the sheer raw energy he was harnessing.

Morgoth watched in increasing alarm as the newcomer was starting to glow, with light coruscating from his eyes. 'This is not good. Not good at all.' Morgoth muttered as he quickly grabbed for his shield.

And not a moment too soon. As Morgoth grabbed for his shield, Elannon released the fireball. The other contestants watched in interest as the projectile was hurtled towards the black-clad dark elf. Just before the fireball reached Morgoth, it seemed to wink out of excistance. Breathin a sgh of relief, the dark elf vowed revenge.

Cursing Elannon watched his fireball vanish before reaching his opponent. He quickly mounted his horse and steeled himself for what was to come.

Edit: Elannon casts Fireball on a 7. Morgoth dispells it on a 10.

Daemon baby - May 23, 2004 10:44 AM (GMT)
Ok, I guess it is my turn then.

Movement:

Jusavane will march 12 inches straight towards Wyvern I

Magic:

Jusavane will use all 3 of his power dice to cast 'Dark Hand of Death' on Wyvern I

F’lar of the Shadowborn - May 23, 2004 11:36 AM (GMT)
Confidently Jusavane strode towards the Wyvern closest of him. These creatures should provide him with a little challenge. Pausing, he decided to make the beast come to him instead of walking the whole way.

Jusavane closed his eyes for a brief moment, mumbling the runes of death, as he gathered the arcane energy needed to blast the Wyvern. As he shouted the last words of the incantation, his eyes snapped open and he made a throwing motion with his left hand. Only Elannon and Jusavane, with their witch sight, saw the ball of energy soar towards the Wyvern. The crowd applaused as the Wyvern was hit by an unseen force, the ball colliding with it. All could see blood dripping from a wound as it let out a roar of anger.

He made no attempt to ready himself as the beast turned it's attention towards him. Jusavane sneered at the beast and shouted his ancient war-cry. Nobody understood it, but it sent a shiver across the arena.

Edit: Jusavane casts on 9. Wyvern fails to dispell on 6. Jusavane throws 4 on D6 S4 hits. And throws one six out of 4 dice = one wound on Wyvern.

Daemon baby - May 23, 2004 11:46 AM (GMT)
Boo yah! Anyway, on a side note, something that I believe personally would help the arena, would be that when something happens, e.g. a combat, or a magic missile is fired, you write underneath your story what actually happened, e.g. (insert name here) cast (insert spell here) on a roll of 11, it was not dispelled and caused 2 wounds on (insert target here). This would help the competitors keep track of how many wounds everyone/everything is on.

On that note, how many wounds were caused on the Wyvern by the 'Dark Hand of Death'?

Oh and that was a nice little piece of writing. :)

Thanks
Rob

F’lar of the Shadowborn - May 23, 2004 11:53 AM (GMT)
That's a good idea, I'll edit it right away. Other comments/improvements are welcom through the Arena

F'lar

Edit: I won't write a story if someone is only moving ;) . Would end up like; and he put his left foot in front of his right foot etc. . So it's Fables turn now.

very nooby man - May 23, 2004 12:15 PM (GMT)
Shadowborn, I think i just said above that i am not going to use my dispel dice but you put that i used it above when ellanor casted fireball. Did u really use my dispel dice or did you just put it in by mistake?

elvesofchrace - May 23, 2004 01:52 PM (GMT)
he used your dispell dice, you rolled a 10 to dispell. i don't think he can change it
To Deamon Baby: you caused 1 wound Flar said the results in his edit

very nooby man - May 23, 2004 02:31 PM (GMT)
O well, i guessed he used my dice. Its ok as Daemon baby dint cast spells on me which i was afraid of.

F’lar of the Shadowborn - May 23, 2004 03:58 PM (GMT)
Oops, I'm sorry about that mess up. It never crossed my mind that you wouldn't want to defend yourself from a big ball of fire coming your way. Again, sorry about that, won't happen again.

Fable - May 24, 2004 01:30 AM (GMT)
Ill charge stitch if possible if not Ill move back just out of his charge range if possible. If he is in charge range then dont forget I cause Fear.

F’lar of the Shadowborn - May 24, 2004 11:52 AM (GMT)
Roaring a battle-cry, I'Firiel kicked his steed into motion. As I'Firiel gained speed, he directed the cold-one towards the rat in front of him.

Stitch gulped as he saw the elf bearing down on him. For a moment he was paralized by fear, but he quickly threw it of, and braced for impact.

The crowd collectively drew their breath, as the elf slammed into the skaven. I'Firiel was cursing from under his helmet, as the rat was faster that he had expected, dodging almost every blow. Finally his blade connected with the rat, and the crowd cheered as the blade cut through the iron as if it was paper. In the same instant the rat´s blade flashed out aimed for his nieck.

Stitch grinned as he swung his blade around to chop this elves head off. To his dismay, the amulet around the elf´s neck suddenly started glowing and at the same time, his blade was stopped in mid-air. With a sudden twack, the blade reverred its path, Stitch was unable to controll the blade and it hit him over the nose. Cursing Stitch backed away, and circled his opponent looking for an opening in his defence while nursing his sore nose.

Stats:
Stupidity test was ok. The fear test was passed on doulbe ones  . I'Firiel only hit once, and Stitch failed the ward save = one wound on Stitch. Cold one missed.
Stitch also wounded once, but the ward save was passed and the wound re-bounded.

F’lar of the Shadowborn - May 24, 2004 12:05 PM (GMT)
Which brings us to our next contestant; Wyvern I. Wyvern I attacks Jusavane.

With a howl of terror, the Wyvern that was wounded by magic, launched itself on Lord Jusavane. With ferocious fury, the Wyvern slammed into Jusavane knocking him over. As Jusavane quickly rose to his feet, he had to duck again, to miss the Wyvern's tail attack. The crowd was encouragements to the Wyvern eager to see blood. Still dazed from being bowled over, Jusavane wasn't quick enough to avoid the Wyvern's claws as they teared through his ornamental armour.

Stepping back, Jusavane slowly brought his sword up. With a flash that was faster that eye could see, he brought the blade down on the monster. The beast roared as Jusavane stepped back, wandering if he would walk away from this fight.

Stats:
Wyvern wounds twice (tail missed), and armour save was failed as well as ward save = 2 wounds on Jusavane.
Jusavane hit twice and wounded once, armour save was failed = one wound on Wyvern I.

Our next contestant is Lord Margraeus

Daemon baby - May 24, 2004 07:06 PM (GMT)
Ok, own up! Who replaced the seemingly docile Wyvern with a ninja Wyvern that has biceps the size of a small country! :D

Fable - May 24, 2004 11:32 PM (GMT)
Just to let ya know my ward save rebounds the wound with no armour or ward saves allowed. :D

Argh I missed that part when I was copying down everyones stats. My bad, and it's been corrected in the story. Thanks for pointing that out.
