Title: wood elf development

LordLoverocket - April 29, 2003 04:38 PM (GMT)
In what way would you like the woodies to be developed by GW ie would you like them to be a more feral, primitive elven society or a more developed, almost "Tolkienesque" aspect. Personally I would like the almost guerilla like tactics of the wood elves to be encouraged as well a a reintroduction of old units like the beast master packs.

Moonshadow - April 29, 2003 09:05 PM (GMT)
A lot of skirmishing units would be very nice. Also, I'd just like to see more units! They only have 15 including heroes, so they definitely need more.

I'd like the dryads to be more... faerieish and not as... woody.

Maelduin ab Sardis - April 30, 2003 09:30 AM (GMT)
I'd really love it if they included the beastmasters again. They were in in 4th, but got taken out in 5th, which kinda sucked, cuz they were great minis and had good rules without being overpowered.

If anyone wants the rules from 4th, I can always post them here if you want

Ozru'Shan - May 1, 2003 02:14 AM (GMT)
I think they definetly need centaurs. And they also need to use deer instead of horses!

Moonshadow - May 1, 2003 02:20 AM (GMT)
Yeah, Centaurs sound like a great idea! Also, not just Centaurs, but deer-centaur-people, sort of like the Keeper of the Grove from WarCraft III. He's got a deer lower body (legs, body) and a human upper body (chest, arms, head) but his head also has antlers. That would be pretty cool, eh? B)

Kingphesphestus - May 1, 2003 01:06 PM (GMT)
I think they should have there own completely seperate magic lore, kind of like lore of life and beasts combined.

Ozru'Shan - May 1, 2003 09:52 PM (GMT)
I think they should have a druid lord instead of a prince, something that could transform into animals or something, so that it could adapt to any army, but you would need to give it like amulets and stuff, you know, amulet of the bear woudl give it like +2 s or amulet of the wolf would give it +2 ws or amulet fo the hawk would give it flying, and they would have pretty low starting stats and a maximum of 3-4 amulets, it would be crazy!

Moonshadow - May 1, 2003 11:04 PM (GMT)
Yeah, Druids would be really cool! They could turn into certain animals and and and that would be cool!

I too think that they should have their own magic lore. They would have one or two magic missiles, and they'd have some sort of Lightning Storm spell and one that transformed another character into a certain animal and stuff like that! I thought of one:

Spirit of Karnos: 7+
This may be cast on a character anywhere on the map. May not be cast on self. He turns into an animal. Roll a D6. On 1-2 he is a wolf, 3-4 he is a Great Eagle, 5-6 he is a bear. (Bear: M6, WS5, BS0, S5, T4, W3, I8, A4, Ld8). After the animal is picked, roll D3 to determine how many turns the spell will last. Animal also has a 5+ Ward Save.

How do you think that sounds?

Grimgor Ironhide - May 2, 2003 12:08 AM (GMT)
OK, except that you can turn an enemy hero into an animal. Transforming into great eagle would be good to get your general near low Ld units, or into the fray faster. But the animals are too weak . . . who'd turn a good prince warrior into a wolf?

Drauthnir - May 2, 2003 12:25 AM (GMT)
I would like to see some sort of magic arrow(s). I don't want them to go over board, but a spell or two, or a couple magic items would be cool. I say spells because the mages come with longbows in the temporary army list. It would blend in with a shooty army, as long as they don't go overboard with the idea. By overboard I mean a whole spell list or magic item section.

That is a good point, but I guess that's a chance that you'd have to be willing to take. How bout this:

1-2: Great Eagle
3-4: Unicorn
5-6: Bear

Do you think that's better?

Kingphesphestus - May 2, 2003 02:43 AM (GMT)
Yeah but I think the magic will probably be more about nature like tree singing

Ozru'Shan - May 2, 2003 03:17 AM (GMT)
I think the wolf is the reason the spell is balanced, if you always turn into something good then it would be insane, also it would be great when you answer challenges with a champion :D

LordLoverocket - May 2, 2003 01:29 PM (GMT)
Playing with the idea of magic, any views on the introduction of some elemental magic, ie the fire, water, heaven and earth. Nothing too powerful but the image of druids always conjures up some one who can influence the landscape, commune with the beasts perhaps even produce some sort of golem. A golem would be nice. You could play for hours with the possibilities of some kind of elemental list. Any ideas?

Maelduin ab Sardis - May 2, 2003 01:39 PM (GMT)
For those of you who play diablo II: the druid there can summon magical vines to attack his enemies or give him bonuses. I think these would offer some nice opportunities.

Ozru'Shan - May 4, 2003 09:15 PM (GMT)
so a spell like

8+
target any unit on the board roll 1d6 1-2 unit loses one attack in next combat phase 3-4 unit cannot move in their controllers next move phase 5-6 move unit 1d6" in any direction you want (not off board)

Ansemite - January 10, 2004 07:37 PM (GMT)
The Spirit of Karnos spell sounds good, except you shouldn't be able to put it on enemy units espesially not Generals, Monsters, that would make the spell too powerful, i think. B)

shadow skink - January 10, 2004 10:25 PM (GMT)
I must agree with you their! :D

Ansemite - January 11, 2004 11:08 AM (GMT)
Yeah, wouldn't be so fun if someone changed your General or Dragon into a wolf B)

necrojoe - January 20, 2004 02:15 PM (GMT)
They could always bring back the Zoats instead of adding stags or centaurs. lol
