Title: Lahmias asp bow
Description: does anyone use it

bdrule - May 4, 2004 10:12 PM (GMT)
i have recently fought a high elf dude and he beat me cause i was using his bros empire, anyway, i notice he relied heavily on cavalry so wat i recommend is using a lahmian to shoot the horse of one and there unit is like a core unit (only 5 movement).

anyway

Personally, I really don't think that the Asp Bow is worth it. It doesn't fire rapidly enough, or hit hard enough to make a serious dent in the high armour save cavalry I imagine you are talking about.

A more obvious solution would be to use a banshee or two, as their screaming attack allows no armour saves whatsoever. Should see horsemen dropping like flies then!

And on a side point: please proof read your message before you post it, or run it through a spell checker. "Reckon mend" instead of Recommend is a great example of how to make people not understand what you are saying, and "arch" isn't a word in the context you were using them in. I've edited them so its a bit more comprehensible now.

Also, you might care to explain what you mean by "core movement" and "only 5". These are worrying phrases that cause me to think you guys have misunderstood the rules all this time...

bdrule - May 6, 2004 04:50 AM (GMT)
wat i mean is that if the lahmia vampire SHOOTS the horse, (horses have wounds) the horse dies and the guy is forced to walk on foot and the unit can't leave him behind so they have to wait for him!,

Um, no. When you shoot the horse down, both die. You roll to wound vs the rider's toughness, and having a horse merely increases the armour save.

Dark Lord Jim - May 6, 2004 11:41 AM (GMT)
As Benedictus says, you can't pick to shoot at the horse. You always hit the rider, unless it is a monsterous mount like a dragon, in which case the hits are randomised.

... so you guys have misunderstood the rules...

also take note of the "Look out Sir!" rule and the randomization of shooting hits for character in unit of 5 or fewer models. These are rules I think you need to know.

bdrule - May 7, 2004 10:09 PM (GMT)
have you read the rules for the asp bow?
it says she can hit ANY target she wants within 24"
did you know that horses have wounds, they can fighth and they die if there mount dies. so read your rules please before contridicting me!

I'll let that speak for itself... :)

Oh My! I often wonder at the interpretations (misinterpretations?) that players make of the rules.

bdrule, please listen to these other posts, they are correct. Cavalry models such as a horse and rider count as a single model. If a kill is made, the entire model is removed.

Yes, that's precisely true. One target is a horse-rider combination. You cannot target the horse seperately, as it is not a valid target.

Kroq-Gar - May 8, 2004 04:02 PM (GMT)
The others are right bdrule...you can choose any target but a knight on his mount is a single target and not 2 different ones....

B) my iternet has been down but seriouly horse shouldn't fight if they can't die!

I supose thats a reasonable reason for necromnacy...

Anyway, I think about it this way. If an arrow hits a rider in real life, he dies, falls of his horse usually, and the horse bolts with no rider/dead rider. There is the whole model gone.

If the arrow hits the horse, the poor animal goes down. Often the rider is trapped underneath the horses thrashing bulk, or is killed after falling 8 feet onto his head in full armour, or is knocked unconcious or wounded some way. There is the whole model gone.

We've outlined what the rules are, Bdrule. You can't target the horses, period, end of discussion. You'll either have to accept the rules, or stop playing :P

I'm locking this thread, as there is no point in debating what is very clearly written in the rules.
