My favourites are rescue, sabotage and planetfall as there are needing alot more tactics (with an except of Sabotage - Tyranids charging)
what are your missions?

My friends and I mostly play last man standing missions. I would like to do a rescue or escape kinda mission soon though.

Last man standing are not the best of missions unless you spice it up a bit say sustained attack rule ;-) sweet
Anyone played Carnage? 4 vs 4 Nightfight (one first turn)

I really like the objective mission. It can result in some crazy assault phases and interesting tactics. (Finding the right balance between taking the objective and cripping those squads on one flank.)

For most armies taking the objective is the best thing as in most games the scenery deployed as the objective normaly convers a 4+ cover save (orks, ig) while with others the objective is the last thing on their mind (tyranid) just attak their closest unit with throwaway units as a horde of say 20 termagaunts

I like a patrol mission as i like coming to attack in waves and makes the game that little bit more intresting :)

Just found a new mission that looks like a lot of fun, and its called:
Thunderhawk Down.
Two, (or more) armys start off in a simple battle and on the end of turn two a Tunderhawk, or other flyer crashes onto the table (use the scatter dice to determine from where and to where). it then becomes a capture the objective which is the thunderhawk.
A cityfight of this one would be a interesting game i think. i hope to try it out soon.

Since I'm a Night Lords player, I really like night fight missions :D
I like objective capturing and recon too though, they both make for fast and exciting games.

The Thunderhawk Down scenario sounds really cool. Where did you find the rules for it?

the thunderhawk senario has been kicking arround another 40k web board, it was first started by a club in england somewhere, started as a basic capture the objective of a crashed thunderhawk but then the twist of having it randomly land somewhere oon turn two so no one can prepare for it.
