I saw this cool picture of a dwarf wagon with a keg on it, and it looked fun to play. So, my friend and I made a 'Beerwagon,' and are using it as a dwarf chariot. I made up some stats for it:
Dwarf Beerwagon Points/model: 85
Beerwagon: M0, WS0, BS0, S5, T5, W4, I0, A0, Ld0
Crew: M0, WS4, BS3, S3, T0, W0, I2, A1, Ld8
Mule: M7, WS3, BS0, S3, T0, W0, I3, A1, Ld0
Unit Size: Each Beerwagon is a single unit.
Crew: 2 Dwarves
Weapons and Armour: The crew are equipped with hand weapons. The Chariot has scythed wheels.
Drawn by: 2 Mules.
Armour save: 3+
Options:
· Crew may be given Dwarf handguns (+12 points/crewman)
· Crew may be given great axes (+6 points/crewman)
· When permitted, a Beerwagon can carry a single character who displaces one crewman automatically. The displaced crewman is lost and his value is not refunded.
Special Rules:
Chariots, Hate Orcs
Does that look cool? I wanted it to be tougher than a normal chariot (to fit in with the dwarf theme), so it's either a 3+ save or 6 toughness, or 5 wounds. I like the 3+ save better, because it can be modified where as 6 toughness or 5 wounds needs magic to change it. It's pretty fast for a dwarf army, so you'd need to learn to move at the same pace with your infantry. I think it would be a big target . . . you'd also have to hide it carefully and get it into combat. Does the points and equipment look good?
We made it out of spare wood to form the framework, a HE standard converted to be like reins, a DE standard top with the scythes sticking out was then placed on the standard with the scythes pointing out, two goblin shields on the front (the ones with the spikes), empire shields converted to be wheels, two pistolier horses, a handgunner, and a warrior with a great axe. Also, we put a Dwarf flag on the end of it.
Nice modelling tips. What about the other old favourites of mine, the dwarven war ballon and the flamethrower teams? I was on a different forum and the rumour page mentioned something about a new dwarven unit being released for the storm of chaos campaign next year? I think that they might release some norse dwarf models to tie up with the Kislev and northern theme of the campaign (berserkers would be nice) Any other units that you would like to see, maybe as a DoW regiment?
Do dwarves even have any throwing axeman? They need them . . . berserkers would be nice, too.
If you look hard enough they even have spearmen :o . Get your norse ideas into the Norse dwarf thread, NOW :P
Rangers can have throwing axes but I never use that option.
Yeah, 6" range on a missile weapon kind of sucks since dwarves move 3"/8".
What kind of fast dwarves do you have that can move 3 or 8 inches. I think I'll buy my stunties at your shop
I never take throwing axes on my rangers as they are intended to be ranked up in woods but throwing weapons need a wide frontage to maximise the numbers of dice thrown so it is a bit of a contradiction. Unless you have a really massive forest/ wood scenery piece and you could fit your rangers in one rank whilst still remaining hidden they dont really work.
