Title: Book of Grudges
Description: Armies that we have lost to

LordLoverocket - May 16, 2003 08:57 PM (GMT)
The scribe dipped his fine peacock feathered quill into the ink, wiping the excess of he hesitated before continuing his work. He could almost feel the pain that the doomed Throng of Ironjaw must have suffered in the last futile hours. The scribe grimaced as he felt all the eyes in the room on him, the magnitude of his work open for all to see. The hush of the room only broken as he dragged quill against the parchment. He began to read the words that had taken him so long to transcribe, " Let it be known that on this day Thane Ironjaw Gimlison has been taken from us, his passing was not easy and his lifeblood will be revenged onto...
Which armies of what points values have given you, as a Dwarf general, the biggest beating, any worthy examples shall be posted in our own Book of Grudges.

Apparently the Dwarvish armies around here are undefeated... Or perhaps they are too proud to admit when they were just outclassed. :D . I can recount one story that happened to a Dwarf playing friend of mine in a 1500 point battle against Orcs. He crammed his army into one corner to eliminate flanking moves but this enabled the Orcish player to release three Fanatics that proceeded to rip trhough over half of the bunched up army.

Kingphesphestus - May 21, 2003 12:37 PM (GMT)
Yeah undefeated thats right

LordLoverocket - May 21, 2003 04:03 PM (GMT)
Once I played this guy and it was his first game of WFB. I ran the intro game and we played a standard 750 points just to get used to the order of the game. He was playing empire by the way. I decided to let the narrative flow and not get competitive as not to put him off. He then proceeded to wipe the floor with me. I wouldnt have minded as the game meant nothing and was played in good humour but then people started coming back to me saying this guy had stated that he had comprehensively beaten me in a competitve battle. Revenge was mine as I wiped the smug smile off his face in a 2000 pointer, he argued about every basic rule and was just a bad loser. I lost 3 models in that battle, he had none left on the board on turn 4. Enter 1 in the book of grudges and strike it out as well. I am not implying anything but he was a seasoned 40k player and thought that he could show that his was the superior games system by beating me. Idiot.

LMAO. Yeah all Dwarf generals are undefeated... Except this one time (Insert long and mainly exaggerated account of a battle with plenty of excuses here.)

Kingphesphestus - May 22, 2003 12:41 PM (GMT)
Yeah i know this one time i was gonna win and a tornado moved the pices but in all seriousness ;)
Ive got a pretty good ratio( i wont tell you if its in favour of ) but the main entrant of grudges go to skaven

InvulnerableOne - May 24, 2003 12:56 AM (GMT)
I think Skaven causes everyone alot of hurt.

LordLoverocket - May 24, 2003 06:35 AM (GMT)
Really I think that the general makes the army but in the case of skaven I have seen complete amateurs destroy veterans with ease. The combination of a horde army with close combat nasties and impressive war machines with destructive magic mean that when a skaven army "comes off" so to speak it really is destructive. Against dwarves especially as they have a number of fastmoving troops that excell at negating high toughness highly armoured troops ie us. The only armies that really suffer against us are the skirmishing sort, esp strigoi vamp armies.

Ungrim_Ironfist - June 2, 2003 10:59 PM (GMT)
I have one against Chaos I challenged a Hero to combat with my Thane and gave him a proper thrashing and then after he regroups a turn later blasts my Thane with a MAgic Missile and fails to fry it. I then mopped the floor with his knights and then his Chosen but the nerve of trying to hit me with his stupid color spell!

Kingphesphestus - June 3, 2003 12:36 AM (GMT)
Damn straight Skaven bahhh. There the most anooying army if there luck is with them you got a hell of a time beating them.

LordLoverocket - June 10, 2003 11:24 AM (GMT)
But if they are unlucky then they are the funniest, I once killed a verminlord with a unit of 8 thunderers. Nothing special about them whatsoever and they just battered him off the board, then to add insult to injury a big unit of rat ogres charged a relatively small unit of miners, killed none lost combat by a musician and got run down as they fled 10 inches. Not a good day for skaven, funny though.

Kingphesphestus - June 10, 2003 01:05 PM (GMT)
the only thing funnier than one of our weak units killing his big immpressive monster is one of his units killing his big immpressive monster.
The look in his eyes as his doomwheel hit his screaming bell, A thing of beauty

Argan - November 5, 2003 04:29 PM (GMT)
I have a grudge and it goes to Dags of War.
their army lists r so cheesy how is getting almost all the troop types in all the other armies and more special ones fair??
in the most recent battle (500pts with a tomb kings ally) i managed to kill a unit of duelists and some falt cavelry which i dont even know the name of.

My revenge came when I were having a game with another dogs of war army at my school club. The player had a huge army which consisted of duelists which got too close and were roasted ny my flame cannon  after this little ballle it was a game of oh no the pikemen r coming!! lets blow them up with our battery of cannons.
The game ended in a massacre to my guys, i had lost:
1 stone thrower crew (killed in a missfire)
2 thunderers
1 wound on my dragon slayer (he took out two units of some kind of fast cavelry on his own so thats OK)
This person has never played me since and is probobly planning some kind of revenge

Ahh, yes...

I was playing my friend, and his ratling gun misfired and blasted away loads of stormvermin who were already in combat. They fled, carrying their lord with him, and were destroyed the next turn.

But my worst defeat (for 6th ed.) was probably also against Skaven. It was back in the days of Ravening Hordes (well, for him not me), and his magic simply ripped me apart.

giles - November 7, 2003 08:25 PM (GMT)
i think, to sum it up, dwarves are good, skaven are amusing and dags o' war are cheeselords of the whatever millenium

cjb103 - November 8, 2003 03:16 PM (GMT)
I'm gettin so fed up of losing to wood elves that I'm gonna refuse to play them in future. They are th only army that's been able to sit back + out shoot me, making me advance towards them. + they just have access to too many fliers / fast cav to get behind my battle line.

I hate them.

I could probably write a multi-volume book of grudges devoted entirely to my defeats against them

Ginja_Ninja - November 24, 2003 01:21 PM (GMT)
I agree with giles as he is funny! hahaha! (cheeselords! ha classic!!!!)

Your funny!

LordChilipepa - December 28, 2003 07:45 PM (GMT)
[IRONY]Hmmm...I see tons of people saying "I massacred x, I massacred y, I don't often lose...only to certain armies which are cheesy..."

So this means that most dwarf players win most of the time!

DWARVES ARE CHEESY![/IRONY]

;)

Vriishnak the Twisted - December 28, 2003 08:02 PM (GMT)
Now we just have to wait and see how many people take that seriously and respond as such.

Balder The Great - December 27, 2003 01:38 PM (GMT)
I think my friend may have a couple of grudges against me now!

I play with orcs and i have massacred his army 4 times and i have played
against him 4 times!!!!!!! My last battle i took my giant and as i predicted he
started to shoot with all he got against my giant (10 rangers, 10 thunderers, 10 crossbowmen & a bolt htrower) and while he was doing that and finally killed my giant with 6 slayers my boyz and 40 gobbos mashed through the rest of his army and he had kragg the grim as general and he has no armour save so i shoot him with my rock lobber, big hit strength 8 d6 wounds his general died.
And then the surviviors of his army fleed of the table!!!!!!!!!!!

AND IT WAS NOT THAT I AM BETTER THAN HIM IT WHAS MY GODGIVEN LUCK WITH THE DICES (GIVEN BY GORK AND MORK) THAT MADE MAY ABLE TO PAINT THE FLOOR (WERE WE PLAYED) RED WITH HIS STUBBORN STUNTY WARRIORS!!!!!!!!!!1

H. DA BOSS
