Title: Third Book of Chaos?
Description: War Machines of Chaos?

We all know about the second chaos book, "Beasts of Chaos" with Centigors, Shoggoth, Trolls, Chimeras, Ogres (Click Here!)... etc. but it has been rumored that the third book of Chaos will be something something like "War Machines of Chaos."

Sources include :

Gav Thorpe in the Foreword of the Hordes of Chaos - "...Chaos armies can incorporate so many different troop types, monsters, daemonic creatures, and bizarre war machines that we felt that to do the whole thing justice we needed more than one volume."

Also from Gav in the foreward for Hordes of Chaos - "As I write, plans are in motion for at least two companion volumes..."

Also, in WD279 (USA) - "The Kurgan tribes were indeed been drawn westwards in great numbers and were coming together in the Zorn Uzkul, the Great Skull Land east of the High Pass. Here, they traded tens of thousands of slaves captured over the years to the Chaos Dwarves of the Dark Lands in return for finely forged weapons and armor as well as monstrous half-deamonic machines for leveling town walls and blastin the foe from afar."

As far as I can tell, it is coming.

From what I can collect, there will most likely be Chaos Dwarves in the book, who can take a lot of these powerful deamonic machines. However, I bet mortal/deamonic/beast armies will be limited by an 0-1 restriction or something when taking these machines.

You have heard my estimations. What do you think based on that info. Will mortal armies be able to use this "Half-deamonic machine"? Will they ever make a model for this thing, or is it just for the fluff? Will there be a third chaos book?

Tell me all your estimations.

Heheh, I've never heard so many citations for a rumour before :). In any case, I am sure that there will be a third book, and the Chaos Dwarf/War Machines theory seems to be the prevalent one on the GW boards. It just doesn't seem fair, though, that chaos be given long range firepower. That seemed their only weakness, but now...I hope that it's restricted for our daemon/mortal/beastman armies. Maybe the war machines would take up 2 rare choices or something. Or they could count as DoW, but available only to chaos.

The exclusion of war machines in chaos armies was not a weakness as such,as the long range firepower was provided by their potent sorcery(unless your name was Khorne) but the high points price of the troops limited the army size. I say let Chaos have its war machines, as long as the points cost was balanced then why not? It wouldn't be out of character for the chaotic armies to have them and the fluff already exists. :D

I say, as long as they are made out of the dead bodies of their foes, good for them

LordLoverocket, it wasn't the chaos sorcery, it was the Chaos Dwarf crafting.

Ghanacc, I like my citations - I hate people who believe if they waste breath saying something it will automatically become true.

Either way, I think GW will put an 0-1 restriction, or something VERY restrictive upon these new war machines. Just so Chaos does not get out of control. I'd imagine they will also be VERY expensive, as in the fluff they had to trade all the slaves they accumulated over years for war machines...

I hope the model is cool. Half-deamonic machine... like an enourmous deamon with sick metal parts twisting and mangling his flesh... and he billows out fire to scorch the enemies... Ya that'd be cool :)

My mistake, I meant to say that the role that warmachines usually play was taken over by sorcerers. But the points system shouldnt be that bad, the points system is tending to even out with the release of cheap core troops, marauders and the new beastmen, so chaos is going to be all eclectic. Rather than the old style armies where you couldnt afford to have many different troop choices. If war machines are allowed then it will just add more diversity to an already diverse army. Hopefully there should be a choice of viable warmachines rather than one supereffective one and half a dozen less so, so that chaos armies really will be different.

I would think that a chaos dwarfs book will come out are norse dwarfs but I would think they would not give the chaos close combate death michines would get war michines seem unlikely thought they mite be able to ally with the dwarfs to get the death I wouder how it going to work.
