Title: _________slayer
LordLoverocket - May 3, 2003 01:18 PM (GMT)
what would you like to be the next Felix and Gotrek novel to contain (apart from obviously Felix and Gotrek.)
I would like some more of Gotreks past to be seen, as well as the return of Snorri.
Kingphesphestus - May 3, 2003 01:32 PM (GMT)
I want to know why he took the oath.
As you said his got royal blood i think and to still follow this oath when the ungrim can't means it must of been something really really bad that happened.
LordLoverocket - May 3, 2003 01:54 PM (GMT)
A detailed history of his axe would be interesting. Wasn't there a short story the once where Felix and Gotrek stumbled into a castle with a Von Carstein or did I dream it?
Kingphesphestus - May 3, 2003 01:56 PM (GMT)
yes there was i think it was in the old undead book. in it they save a girl from manfred after they try to stop him being reborn.
Also don't you think that his ax is the lost ax of grimnir.
LordLoverocket - May 3, 2003 02:04 PM (GMT)
How many axes did Grimnir lose? High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer's got one. Now that I know where that story is I'll find it ( and sleep better.) Cheers.
Kingphesphestus - May 3, 2003 02:09 PM (GMT)
Yes he does remember, Grimnir decided that he would go and close the chaos gate by himself and gave one of his axes to his son, morakai i think ill check later, and kept one. Then in gotreks fluff in the old edition he went into the chaos wastes and found it there , and then if you compare the two axes the ones in 5th edition, there almost identical except the kings auto kills ogres or something and gotreks killed trolls ,There were dragon and deamon on them as well as others ill check it later. B)
LordLoverocket - May 3, 2003 02:56 PM (GMT)
Gotreks causes d6 wound on dragons and daemons whilst Thorgrims was d6 wounds on trolls and ogres
LordLoverocket - May 3, 2003 03:00 PM (GMT)
Wasn't his sons name Morgrim or something like that
Kingphesphestus - May 4, 2003 01:36 AM (GMT)
I wasn't sure i knew it started with m though. And the axes sound pretty similar right
LordLoverocket - May 4, 2003 04:42 PM (GMT)
Not bad for two grizzled commanders who have taken a few too many knocks on the head in the past. I kind of enjoyed trying to remember the past editions. Do you think it might be worth making up a general knowledge quiz type thingy for the forum just to see if the old grey matter can still hack it, not just for the dwarves but a generic one?
Kingphesphestus - May 5, 2003 01:32 AM (GMT)
Yeah it might be fun bit hard though, as i got a head ache trying to remember all the cool runes, not because i couldn't just baecause i miss them, If there was a qustion about nagash i think id cry :(
LordLoverocket - May 5, 2003 08:00 AM (GMT)
Then I'd best not mention the rumour that the cloaked one is coming back :o
Kingphesphestus - May 5, 2003 08:42 AM (GMT)
What do you mean coming back? when how why?
LordLoverocket - May 5, 2003 09:23 AM (GMT)
I mentioned somewhere on a previous thread about the fluff in a game and how big campaigns could have a bigger effect on the history books of warhammer. I said something along the lines of how there would be all these battlefields littered with bodies that would be ripe for some lucky necromancer. Apparently I wasn't too far from the truth, details are a bit sketchy at the minute but I'm trying to find a reliable source to flesh out the details so to speak. He will return!!!
Kingphesphestus - May 5, 2003 09:29 AM (GMT)
yesssssss
He will beat up everybody except dwarfs of course.
But especially teclis
LordLoverocket - May 5, 2003 09:53 AM (GMT)
I'll try and get more details when I can but the new model should be awesome. Have you seen the new Crom model yet? Thats not to bad but it looks a bit of a rush job, a bit like the existing lord with a bigger shield.
Kingphesphestus - May 5, 2003 10:41 AM (GMT)
I havent seen it yet. I hope they keep his hat yep sure do...
King Ulrik Flamebeard - May 8, 2003 05:19 PM (GMT)
Concerning Gotrek's past there is a small amount of it in Beastslayer. The part when Arek Deamonclaw goes and asks the the twin mages what they know about Gotrek, and the look in to a crystal ball ;) They say that he found his axe in the wastes and then he returns to small hall of a dwarven king and gets into an arguement. The king's guard go and try to restain Gotrek but he slays them all. That what i can remember, it might not be right so don't quote me on that.

LordLoverocket - May 15, 2003 07:00 PM (GMT)
Are there any dwarf players who fancy themselves as authors? Why not write an intro to a battle, a paragraph about your army, or does anyone want to (try to) write a short story between us? It doesn't have to be award winning or anything but just something to get the creative juices flowing. If I get some positive responses I'll set up a new story thread to help us along. Who knows where it will lead to? ;)
Kingphesphestus - May 15, 2003 11:40 PM (GMT)
Sounds like a good idea is It set in present future or past
LordLoverocket - May 16, 2003 09:41 AM (GMT)
It is entirely up to the author at that present time. If the story was growing and then someone new came to write a particular bit then he might decide to include flashbacks or deja-vu or whatever. This thread does not mean to take anything away from the existing Battle Reps, stories and fluff forum but just provide a place for dwarf veterans to decide a thread of a story. If its any good I'll tidy it up and post a finished item in the other forum for others to enjoy.
Kingphesphestus - May 16, 2003 03:24 PM (GMT)
Alright ill give it a whirl then
Kurdan woke with a start as he heard the drums of war begin to beat and with every beat his heart mimicked untill the two rythms were as one in his mind. Slowly he gathered his armour and weapons and prepared himself And as he fastened his cloak around his mighty rune armour he felt a great sence of pride as he fastened the badg that showed him to be a mighty gate leeper leader of the clans hammerers and head body guard to durin
More tommorrow if you like it
Kingphesphestus - May 18, 2003 02:01 PM (GMT)
As kurdan finished clasping his cloak over his rune armour a knock came at the door. As he opened it there stood Durin mighty dwarf king of kulak-a-karaz. As Kurdan stood to attention Durin spoke to him.
"Good Kurdan your ready let us make our way to the chamber to prepare the warriors for todays battle."
"Of course my leige" replied Kurdan the following events took place quickly and the dwarf army was soon arrayed for battle against the wood elves who had come out of there forest in a rare outing and taken offence to the engineers use of the trees in the surrounding area.
As kurdan stood besides his lord he motioned to the hammerer to stand at the ready lest ther be a surprise attack by the treacherous oath breakers.
As the first light of dawn spread over the land The two war host could see each other clearly, As kurdin surveyed the field he saw that there was not much to worry the dwarf though there appeared to be a giant tree that he didnt remember earlier, in the centre of the battle lines.
Anty comments so far?

LordLoverocket - May 18, 2003 05:22 PM (GMT)
Feel free to jump in at any time as this was the purpose of the thread. I had put forward an expanded opening to Kingphesphestus' opening but as I sent it my computer went up the spout and I'm not rewriting it again.
Durin motioned for his emmisary to proclaim the terms of the wood elves surrender. The proclamation was the standard 3 hour long treaty to announce the different ways that the elves could surrender. The emmisary was only 20 minutes into his oratory when activity was noticed in the wood elves' camp. A single archer walked from the encampment and notched an arrow to his bow. The archer sighted along his bow and released, the scream of a messenger arrow being rent into the air. The whole of the dwarven army followed the flight of the arrow as it soared into the air only to be lost in the glare of the morning sun. Kurdan stood and hefted his great hammer into one hand, a frown played across his lips. The runesmith Borak Ironjaw commented " Relax gatekeeper, the elf was more than 300 feet away. What could he possibly..." Kurdan swung his mighty hammer to smash the arrow out of the air as it was about to penetrate his Lord's throat, " hope to hit at that distance?" the words dying on the runesmiths lips. Kurdan turned to his Lord " Sir I believe the elves have chosen not to accept the terms of surrender." Confirmation of Kurdans words came when the sky turned black with the rain of arrows. "SHIELDS UP" came the order and the battle commenced.
Anyone else want to play ;)
Kingphesphestus - May 19, 2003 12:46 AM (GMT)
As kurdan raised his shield he noticed several of his brethern fall with arrows potruding between the gaps in his armour.
Soon durin orderd his men forward as the marched under the hail of arrows Kurdin heard the loud crack of a the thunderers
firing there first volley at the Elves. He noticed the tree again it semed closer than before but he dismissed it as the fog of war enveloped them. As they marched forward kurdan instincyively dived in front of hi lord as a mighty hand came crushing towards him, then the world went Black.
Durin saw it out of the corner of his eye a mighty tree appeared to be attacking then he remembered the entries in the clans book of grudges that told of the elves tree deamons. As the blow was about to hit him kurdan dived in front of it and manged to deflect the blow from him. Thb mighty blow knocked away kurdan as well as a substantiol number of his men.
Borak stood there chanting to stop the spells being cast so could not be much help, It looked like he would be fighting this battle alone, as he prepared to fight the beast he swore he could see kurdin move. As he chanted his battle song his rune exploded in a balze of fire. and the battle began
LordLoverocket - May 19, 2003 11:08 AM (GMT)
Kurdan stirred, opening his eyes to see a giant foot descending toward him. He rolled to try and avoid the treemans efforts to squash him. The roar that echoed around the battle field meant only one thing, his lord had joined the battle. Kurdan activated the runes on his own weapon and sung at the mighty creature. Although knocking a huge chunk out of the monstrosity the being never acknowledged any pain.
" Move out the way there, laddie" Kurdan was jostled out of the way, not being used to treated in such a way, he turned to retort only to recognise the dyed orange hair and tattoos of a slayer. Kurdan stopped mid swing and watched as the slayer grabbed hold of the treemans leg and started climbing, seemingly oblivious to any danger he was facing, even whistling a jaunty little tune. As he reached the treemans shoulder he paused, spat on his hands, broke wind and jumped into the air. As he fell the axe in his hand flashed and a bright red line appeared all the way down the length of the treeman.
The slayer landed next to the bemused Durin who also had stopped chopping away to watch the spectacle. " Got any more of these?" the slayer asked as the 2 halves of the treeman slid apart and crashed to the floor around him. Durin lifted one arm and pointed off in the direction of the woodelf battle line where another behemoth was visible. The dwarven lord watched as the lone slayer set off towards his next target, cutting a swathe through a woodelf spearman unit that was unlucky enough to have got in his way in his search for his doom. Kurdan began to smile and thought that it was going to be one of those days.
Kingphesphestus - May 19, 2003 01:05 PM (GMT)
as durin surveyed the remains of his unit he was a little shocked to see that a little under half the unit remained without hesitaion however they reformed and began there march to the enemy line If they could defeat the mage there general ther would be little to stop them routing the rest of the army. As they began to march Durin couldn't help glancing over to the jolly little slayer and chuckled to himself.
Not part of story
not that anyone has but before they do could we not kill each others characters off as im sure people go to a bit of trouble to think of them
and to lord loverocket do you think we should get some wood elf players to write there perspective?
And do you think its going so far should i continue or is my parts sub par
LordLoverocket - May 19, 2003 01:17 PM (GMT)
Just carry on and whatever happens just happens ;)
I think what I'll do is get so far into the stoey and then tidy it up, go over spellings etc then post it on the story board thread along with an explanation of whats been happening or how it got to its present format.
If you dont want to kill off characters then dont put them in the story or if someone writes something that you dont feel appropriate then you can rewrite that particular part of the story. Just get the ideas down so we have something to work on, the only thing we need really are more authors to put their own perspective down as its only the two of us who are carrying the thread. Oh well, it just means that we'll have to cut the money two ways when I sell our masterpiece :D :D :D
Kingphesphestus - May 19, 2003 01:22 PM (GMT)
I guess so then well lets continue :D
LordLoverocket - May 19, 2003 01:33 PM (GMT)
Are you really from Australia?
Kingphesphestus - May 19, 2003 02:03 PM (GMT)
Yes i am why do you ask? B)
LordLoverocket - May 19, 2003 02:22 PM (GMT)
Its just the difference in time zones and everything. I'll have start modding myself if I dont get back to the point. I'll just e-mail you with all my questions then ;)
If you've any major plot developments that you want to start then just start up a new line, maybe in a different colour so we can identify them and start running a few stories all at once to try and do our heads in. All this jumping around in the forums is causing me to start threads that should be in other places. Oh well
Scaly - May 19, 2003 10:24 PM (GMT)
I'll do the sub plot of this slayer as I enjoy it!
The slayer began whistling the karak kadrin bar song again as he removed the Rune Axe of Kalthazud from the back of the Wood Elf Spearman Champion. He shouldered his axe and trotted off towards the Tree Daemon in the distance, pausing only to deprive the lives of those between him and his next target.
good?
Kingphesphestus - May 19, 2003 11:54 PM (GMT)
I think this is going pretty well so far weve got three people now and two/three plots :D
Kingphesphestus - May 20, 2003 12:06 AM (GMT)
As the battle raged on durin and his retinue continued to march on the main enemy formation as they approached he could see there cold eyes staring at him as the general told them to fire, within seconds the sun was blotted out by a hail of arrows that descended upon the regiment as if the sky had decided to fall , after the hail there was now less than a third of there number remaining they charged the enemy how ever and prepared to finish them off with there own brand of retribution. As they raised there hammers to charge a shadow appeared over them what was it kurdan thought to himself, sureley they couldnt of fired another volley so quickly as he turned around he saw a gigantic green dragon standing over them before he could exhale his deadly breath however the rest of the hammerers attacked it as fudd yelled to kurdan and durin we shall take care of the beast you and our lord defeat the general, with that durin, kurdan and there runesmith nodded and turned to charge the oathless wonders
Kingphesphestus - May 21, 2003 11:49 AM (GMT)
As they reached the enemy Kurdan could see there shock that they had charged with only three dwarfs however they quickly formed ranks and surrounded them with a word there rune weapons lit up and flashed through the air leaving trails of light in the air where they slashed through armous and flesh alike the sheer ferocith caught the elves off guard however they soon recovered and let forth a torrent of there own back at them but there pitiful weapons could not penetrate there rune armour. Then there was a lull as the elves realising they were out class turned to flee. Soon durin and kurdan were running after them but just as they were to catch them the dragon descended it had broken combat with fudd and the remaining hammerers and descended on the dwarf lord with a softly spoken word that strangly seemed to reverberate inside there skulls issued a challenge against durin, He promptly accepted and prpared to defeat this beast and its rider, with a blast of acid the fight began
Kingphesphestus - May 30, 2003 12:51 PM (GMT)
As the fight raged on the vicios beast slashed at Durin with its claws and teeth while the rider tried to impale him on his lance. The haughty wood elf finally managed to catch Durin with a swift thrust and as he lifted him in to the air on his lance he realised the mistake he had made, Thigh his magic lance had managed to penetrate the dwarfs might rune armour the thin layer of cloth had managed to halt the blow, As Durin Thanked Grungni for his survival he saw the fear in the elves eyes as his hammer descended like a thunderbolt and caved his head in as the elf fell the great dragon was enraged and as it bellowed in rage and prepared to take its revenge it felt a pain in its leg where a hammer had struck it
This was soon joined by others and as the beast was bowed down by the force Kurdan finished it off himself with His hammer. As he surveyed the battlefield he wondered how the rest of the army was going.
Scaly - May 31, 2003 04:21 AM (GMT)
With a savage battle cry, Gurdan the Dragonslayer leaps towards the last treeman. Nimbily avoiding a crushing swing of its arm, Gurdan scales the monster to his shoulder and begins to attack his head. The treeman pulls the enraged Dragonslayer off his shoulder, crushing his arm in its grip. The treeman opens his maw to swallow the Dragonslayer whole, when a flash of silver and gold flashes into the mouth in his place. Gurdan pulls the rune axe from the roof of the treemans mouth and curses at his bad luck, Grungni's still got plans for me then eh?
Ungrim_Ironfist - May 31, 2003 04:05 PM (GMT)
In Vampire Slayer Gotrek and Felix(and company) saved someone from a von Carstein Vampire who was killed by Snorri. I don't know much about anything else about Gotrek as that's the only novel I have read.
