Title: Rules Question
Description: Rat Ogres and Packmasters

SkitterSqueek - December 6, 2003 08:48 AM (GMT)
First off i would like to say hi to everyone I am new to this board and am glad to see other people who play and enjoy warhammer like I do.

Now today I was Playing a 1,000 point game against a Vamp Counts army and we ran into a couple of tiffs.... My unit of rat ogres had become flanked and what we ran into was the flanking unit was touching my rat ogres of course and not my packmasters obvioulsy cause there in the middle of the rat ogre base and not to the side where there bases touch flankers.....

Does this mean they can't attack them directly or can they... and also since it's a mixed unit am I able to alocate wounds to whom I desire?

Also one more question was I was surrounded entirely by undead and lost combat.... can i still run thru a unit to flee as long as it's the weakest unit strength or is my unit lost?

Thanks =D

I'm not sure about the second question but, for the first you could treat it like shooting. So you just allocate the attacks like it was shooting, but i'm not sure.

Does anyone know what the rules are for mixed units??? If so please enlighten us.

What happens if rat ogres get shotted?

well I see it this way: I guess that the packmasters are treated like charachters which means that the only way of killing them is in base-to-base contact and pickin him out and he charged you in the flank so I donīt see how he could kill the packmaster then.
as far as shooting goes I suppose that the packmasters are part of the unit wich means that you decide what models to remove.

really arenīt sure about surrounding thing but beeing surrounded like that canīt be a good thing ;)

OK, as to your first question I have looked this up in the rule book and according to the appendix near the back of the rule book (appendix 6 if I recall correctly) your packmaster moves to the flank of your unit so he is in combat.

The second question has happened to me before. The solution that came about was to flee though the unit with the lowest unit strength.
