Title: Nintendo DS!
Description: Who's heard of it?
Toanuvafreak123 - May 15, 2004 01:25 AM (GMT)
It's a new system, with 2 different screens, plays all GBA games, plus it's own, has 3d effects (1 screen max at a time, tho), and Nintendo said is somewhere between the N64 and GCN in graphics line! It looks sweet. At first, I thought a duel-screen GBish thing would be hard to figure it out, but it looks sweet! Here's a pic:
Sweetness! Metroid Prime: Hunters looks awesome!OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG :o :o :o :o It'll be so cool! However, nintendo says it's not continuing in the Gameboy area, nor is it part of the major systems line. It's a new one. But it looks a lot like a GBASP to me! I hear it even has a stylus, and there's a game where Baby Mario's falling, and you draw clouds to catch him! And it has a built-in mike for some games that use it! Playstation Portabale, meh, save your money for this baby!

Jeremysr - May 15, 2004 05:52 AM (GMT)
Wow, that looks cool! Plays all Game Boy Games? I guess I won't geta game boy sp then! I'll save my money! I wonder how much it costs...
Koopaking - May 15, 2004 10:26 PM (GMT)
I saw two of these topics on BZP, and also it's gonna be like $150 US when it comes out. And I also heard you can play with other people around the world... So you Better start savin' up for that baby, 'cause $150 is already more thatn the gamecube costs. Of coatse the SP and Gamecube are both the same amount... Right...
Toanuvafreak123 - May 16, 2004 12:32 AM (GMT)
Yeah, something that great must cost a lot. As for me, I'm already saving! Haven't got much yet, (like 53 cents, lol), since I only heard about it yesterday, but I'm saving! I'd probably have it quicker if I didn't get the 4 swords adventure pack for 70...
Of Doom - May 16, 2004 05:20 PM (GMT)
Wow, looks pretty cool. Oh, BTW. That's MP2 on the screen. I've beat MP multiple times and never have I come across an area that looks like that.
-Of Doom
Toanuvafreak123 - May 17, 2004 12:18 AM (GMT)
Well, I doubt it's MP2, perhaps a new Metroid game! Nintendo usually only has games on multiple systems when they're rather, well, cheesy. As much as I like Bionicle: Mask of Light, I can't say that it's game was much good. It could be MP2, though. A platformer in realistic 3-d is never that good, so they probably did that for the Metroid game for the DS. Of course, it could just be MP2 formatted for it to show off it's graphics, since that was from the preview. Whatever it is, it looks awesome.
Toanuvafreak123 - May 19, 2004 03:38 AM (GMT)
The name of the game is Metroid Prime: Hunters. I got it from the top, since it's on Nintendo.com. Click
here for one of the pages. This will change gaming forever.
Of Doom - May 19, 2004 09:14 PM (GMT)
I was aware that the name of the game was MP: Echoes
-Of Doom
P.S. A guy got rights for a metroid movie! how cool is that!
Toanuvafreak123 - May 19, 2004 09:39 PM (GMT)
No, MP2 is Echoes, MPDS is Hunters. Both look like awesome games, though. Although all DS games will rock. I hear they're on CARDS. Or at least as thin as one. Although wouldn't they break easily? One is pic-chat which there's a stylus-keyboard, you can chat and post pics, and edit those your friend sent you. Like you could try to draw all of Mario by taking turns, play "guess the pic", say "Ack I'm hungry", the friend would send you a pic of a big meal, and you could edit it to look eaten! It will rock! Also, there's a 4-player game called Super Mario 64x4, where you can be Mario, Luigi, Yoshi, and Wario if I recall correctly. The 3-d will be your character, where you press on the screen to change the camera angles, and run around with your friends finding stars in the Mario 64 worlds, and there'll be an overhead map on the 2-d screen. There's also so much more! This COULD be the best gaming system ever. I mean, X-Box & GC have better graphics, but this is like, THE most involved system ever. I think some of the games have internet-like accsess, where it'll scan for people playing your game and link you up. I'm sorry, but I am so hyped up about this! I typed this entire message in less then 5 minutes! YAYAYAYAYAY DS ROCKS!
I sure hope I can save up enough for it, though... Or it comes out close to my B-day.

I stand corrected.

Toanuvafreak123 - May 19, 2004 10:20 PM (GMT)
That's never happened before! Anyway, I hope they do the chat thing where you could pick who you talk to, cause I could actually meet in... screen anyone on BZP or here who lives in USA or close! Wheehee!
Of Doom - May 20, 2004 08:24 PM (GMT)
I found some new info:
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes is for the GameCube.
Metroid Prime 2: Hunters is strictly the multiplayer version of echoes, and will be sold for the DS. We're all cleared up now.
-Of Doom
Toanuvafreak123 - May 20, 2004 08:51 PM (GMT)
Oh. I dunno, but it sounds right. But from the pics I've seen, it doesn't look like Echoes, but I could be wrong.
Jeremysr - May 23, 2004 09:09 PM (GMT)
I found Nintendo DS stuff on Yoshi Lore:
http://www.yoshilore.com/NintendoDS.php- jr
Java Metru - May 24, 2004 10:41 PM (GMT)
Yeah, I saw that in Nintendo Power and there's going to be an Animal Crossing DS and a PictoChat thing that can go across the country! And it will have voice recognition, and two screens and everything. $150 doesn't seem that much for the great graphics and all the possibilities of it. I am getting it for Christmas, because they said it comes out late 2004. And the Metroid game for the DS is Metroid Prime: Hunters and the second one for Gamecube is called Metroid Prime 2: Echoes, which is about Samus on Aether and a dimensional rift cause it to split into two worlds a dark world and a light world and Samus can aquire a Light beam and a Dark beam later on in the game. It also has a four player mode where bounty hunter goes against bounty hunter.
Sky - May 28, 2004 04:54 PM (GMT)
Do you know when this comes out? 'cause I am really interested in it.
Toanuvafreak123 - May 28, 2004 09:08 PM (GMT)
I think sometime in october-december.
Koopaking - May 31, 2004 05:03 AM (GMT)
Alright... I just got totally phsycted about this DS system! The only thing is, the thing doesn't come out til' 2005... WHICH SUCKS!!! Other Company like Microsoft could steal that technology and make more games that most gamers like! Course, they have tried with the Gameboy stuff and failed! That is a good thing! NOTHING CAN STOP NINTNDO! LONG LIVE NINTENDO...Zzzzzz
The Legendary Ice Man - July 4, 2004 08:59 PM (GMT)
The DS was designed solely for Football titles. using one screen for a regular view and the other screen to view anything else like stats or something.
then they turned away from that and included a touch sensitive screen, to make less buttons required, that didn't really take of either, so they decided to give it a completely new system, based on the ARM 7 processor used in the NGC.
the only really major downside, which Nintendo still haven't picked up on is the crap frontlit screens they've all had. Frontlight screens have to be viewed at certain angles, whereas the backlight PSP can be viewed at any angle, though they both however are impaired by a direct, bright light.
DS = good.
Dragon_Rider - July 15, 2004 02:15 PM (GMT)
The DS looks pretty sweet. Here I have compared the DS and PSP.
----DS----
Pros
Has touch screen allowing for a quite vast amount of possible gaming ideas. Dual screen allowing for twice as many views than normal. Backwards compatible, lets you play old games on your new system, also good for people who didn't own the older machines. Graphics quality inbetween 64 and Gamecube, we all know what that means. 1 gb of media storage, movies, voices, models, larger games. Wireless play for up to 100 ft with Wi-Fi capabilities. Built in microphone.
Cons
Smaller screen (apparently from what I've seen in the prototype)
Hard to play Metroid, considering you have to hold the stylus to shoot in one hand, and hold the DS in the other (hopefully there will be a stand for it). Also if you are right about being thin cards, which makes sense since the 3D tech might take up too much room to use cartridges, then they would break so easy.
----PSP----
Pros
Graphics quality of the PS2. Big screen. Mp3 compatibility. Plays special PSP movie format. Large storage capacity ((I think 5 gb)
Cons
Battery power will be a jerk because of the constant rotation of the discs. Lots of rehashed PS2 games. Plays special PSP movie format.
(keep in mind these are speculations on the current designs of each system)
PSP is looking for not only a gaming handheld, but a multimedia handheld, which will raise the price on the handheld itself, if people wanted something to play mp3s they'd buy a portable mp3 player, if they wanted a personal movie player, they'd buy a portable dvd player. PSP although has good graphics, but graphics do not always make a game. DS has many innovative ideas built into the machine (microphone, wi-fi, touch screen, dual screen) although not as much graphics processing power as the PSP, it has to handle two screens at once. The wireless play for DS is a great idea, allowing you to play with anyone in the world at any wi-fi hotspot.
In my book:
PSP wins cause not only will you be able to play games, but music and dvd as well. It will be like buying three things at once. Also I have been a sony fan for a while :P
Toanuvafreak123 - July 16, 2004 04:09 PM (GMT)
Y'know, call me nuts, but when I buy a gaming system I usually use it to play video games.
The Legendary Ice Man - July 19, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
The PSP does support Wi-Fi and can link onto home networks to connect to Sony Connect and others...I think to download music directly.
The UMD disc is a 1.8GB heavily encrypted, specially made disc that is for at least a year guarnteed to not be broken into.
The PSP is a 16.6 million, 16:9 4.3 inch screen. The DS does have two screens, both smaller and both about 1/3 of the resolution.
The PSP also has a Keyboard and Camera attachment, Wi-Fi booster and can plug into the PS2 and new PSX - Sony have also said that it will be able to take power from the PS3 and will possibly demonstrate that when all three next-gen consoles go on show at E3 2005.

Toanuvafreak123 - August 17, 2004 03:40 PM (GMT)
Cool. I liked the first one, but it looked extreamely hard to use... I wonder if it works with the GCN-GBA cable?

Nope Nintendo has said that is will not work with the GBA GCN link cable.(So far it could change though.)

Hey guys check this out.
Weird ain't it?
Korean Richie - September 8, 2004 09:44 PM (GMT)
I just got the SP a while ago so i'm trying to resist getting the DS.
I hope a new hand held Nitendo console comes soon or i might Lose controll and buy the DS right before the new invention! :twitch:
Koopaking - September 8, 2004 11:36 PM (GMT)
Accually, the DS is the newest handheld system.
guitar guy - September 10, 2004 03:20 PM (GMT)
this thing sounds so sweet!
1 question though. When it plays the old games would it only take 1 screen?
Link The Hero Of Time - September 10, 2004 10:13 PM (GMT)
I'm looking forward to DS. I cant wait, it should be awesome. I think its going to be better than PSP. PSP is gonna put up one heck of a fight no doubt about it, but Nintendo's debut lineup looks a little more impressive than Sony's. Nintendo's series are going to win it for them in the end, its something PSP lacks. But PSP will still be one heck of a handheld console. I'm looking forward to both of them.

Probably. And, knowing nintendo, will display the DS Logo on the other screen. ;)
Korean Richie - September 10, 2004 10:50 PM (GMT)
lol probablly, they have so many advertisments my head is spinning! :twitch:
Of Doom - September 10, 2004 10:52 PM (GMT)
I doubt they'd advertise the DS on the DS. (BUY ANOTHER ONE!)
Toanuvafreak123 - September 11, 2004 01:10 AM (GMT)
I've learned by watching spy movies over and over that if you look very close at the Gamecube Logo, it spells out the words "Buy more buy more buy more".
guitar guy - September 11, 2004 04:43 PM (GMT)
on the other screen they're probably gonna advertise underwear or cat food.
Anyway it still soungs cool.

Korean Richie - September 11, 2004 06:23 PM (GMT)
The Game Cube logo say's buy more buy more?
That's just freaky.
