Final Fantasy X

This game is for the:
PlayStation 2

Another installment of the revolutionary classic Final Fantasy series. Tidus, an aspiring Blitzball player, second only to his missing father, Jech't, has been brought a thousand years into the future after an attack by a mysterious mass which was later known as Sin. Now, Tidus must find out a way to return back to his home, Zanarkand, which was torn apart by Sin. With the help of Yuna and Kimari, Wakka and Lulu, Rikku and an old friend of his father's, Auron, they set out to defeat Sin, and find out how to return Tidus home. But their journey bring forth truth and conspiracy, and questioning of the practices of Yevon, all while romance ignites between Tidus and Yuna...

Graphics - The graphics are rather nice, especially on the actual cinemas. Then, it's just beautiful! Overall, though, the character's designs are rather distinct, and interesting to look at (fanboys!). While the gameplay graphics may not be as well as the GameCube or the XBox, they're still not bad. It's those movie graphics that jack it up, they are very nice.

Graphics Rating
8.6/10

Sound/Music - The music in this is rather nice. I, personally, like the Hymn of the Fayth. It's nothing spectacular, but just a few of the songs are good. But, sometimes they can get a bit boring.

Sound/Music Rating
7.6

Controls - The controls are okay. There isn't much significance in the Controls department. The ability to see the CTB Window, and the R2 and L2 to scroll up and down on it is helpful. The controls are average, really.

Controls Rating
6.8

Game Play - The plot itself is very interesting, and the touch of romance between Tidus and Yuna gives it a bit more of a enlightened taste, what aside from the conspiracy and questioning of one's faith. However, the ending did bring the score down, due to the fact of what Tidus really was. It's hard to understand, and I find doesn't make a whole lot of sense. The summons in the game is good, however I didn't entirely favor the fact you can have pretty much complete control over them, resulting that you can fight an entire battle with just one powerful summoned creature (like Anima, or the Magus Sisters). However the animations and such of the summons were very nice, and I favored them. The new system of "leveling," for lack of a better term, is certainly different, but very tedious and long. Overly long, if you ask me. The Arena was an interesting touch, and I rather like it. And Blitzball is rather fun. The Ultimate Weapons are pretty awesome, except I find the way to get the Venus Sigil (dodge 200 consecutive lightning bolts in the Thunder Plains) is rather ridiculous, though.

Game Play Rating
8.8

Replay Value - Unfortunately, this isn't that great. Once you play it, you just know what's going to happen, and that was part of the mystery, I think. That, and if you want to get everything again, you better be ready for a long time.

Replay Value Rating
5.6

Overall - Actually, this really is a good game, even if the overall rating doesn't really show it. I do recommend this game, it is rather nice.

Overall Rating
7.4

waiting for the thunder in order to dodge those lightning bolts was ver hard... thank god for the pause button. i thought the blitzball subgames were kinda boring... is the FF franchise ever moving back to the cartoonish RPG characters (e.g. FF IX)? I think those are more fun. well, thats just me
