Title: Super Mario 64 DS!
Description: -Official Topic-

Who has this amazing game for the even more amazing new system, DS! It's a wonderful remake (I chose not to say "port" for a reason) of the original N64 title that captured the hearts of millions, revolutionized gaming, and did a bunch of other generic stuff Microsoft says about Halos.
Honestly, though, I was annoyed incredibly by the touch screen at first, but when you just decide you're not gonna care how uncomfy it is, and use the Thumb Strap, you'll get a great virtual controll stick.
Onto the game!
"Dear Mario,
Please Come to the Castle!
I've baked a cake for you!
Yours,
Princess Toadstool
Peach"
Mario jumps out of a warp pipe, followed soon by Luigi and Wario, out of some others. Luigi jumps on Wario, who chases him. Mario bonks heads with Luigi, and they eventually get inside. The camera goes to Yoshi, sleeping on the roof for reasons still unknown.
Later, Mario and the gang still haven't returned. Yoshi is awakened by Lakitu, and your game begins.
The main difference between this is the 4 characters, undoubtably, but there are some other differences. Remember MIPS the rabbit? He's multiplied by a kajilliion, and each rabbit you catch with a character, you get a Key.
Now, these don't unlock the doors to your captured friends, or unlock the basement or 2nd floor. They give you another of my next point, Minigames. From the start screen, you can choose from a couple options, playing with the character's head, VS mode, Adventure Mode, and Rec Room.
In the Rec Room, minigames are plentiful. You have 2 for each character from the begining, and you unlock another per rabbit. You get a dozen per, and with 4 characters, 48 Minigames isn't that shabby, especially with the incredible addictivity.
A few other cool things are:
- Caps replaced by Power Flowers (Balloon up with Mario, Breathe Fire with Yoshi, Become Metal with Wario, or dissapear with Luigi. You may notice the last 2 were replicas of 2 caps, but what become of the Wing Cap? Well, to solve this, Mario can occasionly smash the red blocks containing Power Flowers and find feathers, allowing him to fly up into the sky.
- As well as 1-Up Shrooms, you finally get to have the kewlness of Super Shrooms in 3-D. You get HUGE, and essentially invincible. As always Lava hurts you and bottomless pits are still bottomless, blah blah blah. We learned THAT back in SMB Classic.
- There are several new secret star areas.
- There is now 8 Stars per level to the best of my knowlage. The normal ones, occasionly one that couldn't work without some caps replaced by a rematch against a boss, etc, and one to collect 5 Silver Stars. These are like the Red Coins, exept they're usually hidden inside enimies, and occasionly on a Chain Chomp's Chain.
- Multiplayer Mode. 'Nuff said.
This is all well and good and cheese coated, you say, but what's it gonna cost me? A mere 30 Dollars, the same as, say, SMA4. Too great a deal, you say? What's the catch? Well... There's one thing. THIS IS NINTENDO. THERE IS NO CATCH! :w00t:
This is definatly a 10/10 in my book, a MUST BUY game. Try and get this as your DS launch game, unless you have something against a good time.

That game is going right onto my christmas list.
Koopaking - November 24, 2004 01:36 AM (GMT)
DUDE!!! This sounds so cool. I really need to put this on my christams list. ;) (BTW if you have even played the Sper Mario 64 on the N64, and have gotten all 120 stars, then you would know that Yoshi is on the roof when you get blasted up there.)
Sky - November 24, 2004 01:46 AM (GMT)

Lizzy122 - November 24, 2004 02:06 AM (GMT)

I knew that, I just never figured out WHY he was on the roof.
To the others,
Ha ha, I have it, you don't, it's really great, super, woot.

I have a question: How much is the DS?
Toanuvafreak123 - November 25, 2004 12:29 AM (GMT)
150 Bucks, games are 35. That's much less then the 250 you'd spend getting a PSP and a game.
Ice - December 4, 2004 03:41 PM (GMT)
I played it and I didn't think it was very good. It seemed weird, because it was small. TOO SMALL! If it's so small, why don't you SHRINK ME?
Sky - December 28, 2004 05:41 PM (GMT)
I have this game now.IT IS EXTREMELY COOL lol. PS: I have 25 rabbits right now, how many do you have?
dragon-91 - December 28, 2004 08:41 PM (GMT)
I have played it and it is almost EXACTLY the same as Super Mario 64!
I thought it woud be more challenging or at least not a complete copy of an old game!!!
Toanuvafreak123 - December 28, 2004 10:00 PM (GMT)
Minigames
4 Characters.
5 new minilevels
New rooms
30 more stars
8 stars per level instead of 7.
Yes, this IS very the same. *rolls eyes*

I've played this on Tnf's DS, along with Hunters, and it's GREAT! Portable, better then the original, new levels... What's not to love? And to you who say it's nothing but the first game:
The N64 with SM64 in it does NOT cound as the DS with SM64DS in it. It's really quite silly to compare SM64 with SM64.
-Teet :mario:
Jeremysr - January 4, 2005 04:08 PM (GMT)
I got the game yesterday, and it's really fun! I have about 18 stars right now...
DarkJoe - January 4, 2005 04:48 PM (GMT)
Like all said ... This is the same Darn Game then the 64.

GRAAAH! THAT SPAMMY! ME EAT TEH SPAMMY WAMMY!
It is NOT the same. The same would be if they made a "SM64 for the DS" with Mario only, only the same levels, the same graphics, and no minigames or touch screen drawing.
Koopaking - January 6, 2005 11:22 PM (GMT)
Don't forget to mention the fact that it has multiplayer. It's fun. But seriously. Why compare? It's redulous.

Jeremysr - January 7, 2005 02:23 AM (GMT)
My sister's getting WiFi for her laptop so soon I can play multiplayer with people from all around the world!! :w00t:
Toanuvafreak123 - January 7, 2005 03:31 AM (GMT)
Not yet, little JSR, not yet... Nintendo will tell you. Anywho, I'm dissapointed with the Multiplayer mode. The time limit stinks, the gameplay isn't that much fun, and there aren't enough levels. You should be 1 person each, not Yoshimen, and play Co-Op.

Sky - January 8, 2005 07:32 PM (GMT)
?!?!!?!?!?!?!? :twitch: :twitch: What do you mean "not yet" ???????????

Toanuvafreak123 - January 9, 2005 03:50 AM (GMT)
I have 32 rabbits and 150 stars. I'm going for 151...
Sky - January 9, 2005 07:32 PM (GMT)
ummmmmm.......... I thought there was only 28 rabbits and I KNOW that there is only 150 stars. So tell me, how are you going to get 151 stars?
Jeremysr - January 9, 2005 07:40 PM (GMT)
I think there's 40 rabbits. I think tnf already knows there are only 150 stars...
Chwoka - January 9, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
Hey, what station is this for?
Koopaking - January 10, 2005 12:14 AM (GMT)
*Looks at Chwoka and Laughs* You... Don't know what station this is for? And you call yourself a gamer...
The Nintendo DS! Tnf Mentioned that in his post!

Nope, that's wrong. Considering there are only 9 minigames for each person. That makes 28 rabbits. Unless you count the silver bunnies, which still only adds up to 36 rabbits.
DarkJoe - January 10, 2005 04:32 PM (GMT)
150 stars,
And i guess Tnf was joking.

36 rabbits Including Both Mini and Silver, there IS an 151st star. In Luigi's Picture, collect all the red coins but the one in the top of the one room with the ! box. Fly up there as Mario, and if you look closely, 2 stars will spin at the Blue Star Spot.
HA HA, YOU GUYS THINK I WAS WRONG BUT I'M RIGHT!
Koopaking - January 11, 2005 03:33 AM (GMT)
Never doubted you for a sec, Tnf. I was correcting Jsr.
DarkJoe - January 11, 2005 07:59 PM (GMT)
Koopaking - January 11, 2005 10:39 PM (GMT)
I would have meantioned the fact that there was not a 151st star in my debate on how many bunnies there were. Like I said, I never doubted hm for a second (Put it this way, he tells the truth.)
Toanuvafreak123 - January 12, 2005 03:22 AM (GMT)
Yep. I think someone is a tad bit jealous I'm so much better and get the games faster...
Koopaking - January 12, 2005 11:31 PM (GMT)
Who, me? Or Joe? I don't get jelous over games and who has them first. I only make a big deal out of it if I get a game before you. (You got for your birthday, which is fairly close to christmas.)
Sky - January 12, 2005 11:39 PM (GMT)
Really there is 151 stars? Well I guess all the game faqs I've been reading lied.If you are counting the white rabbits I have 35 total rabbits.
DarkJoe - January 13, 2005 11:52 PM (GMT)
i am jalous? don't think so .... i just don't mind.
Toanuvafreak123 - January 14, 2005 01:42 AM (GMT)
Sky. He seems to like to defy me, with things like "I bet I have a higher score then you on Metroid Hunters" and stuff like that... :P
