You know how to use the software right? So you arn't making a stuper mistake?

Try,

1) import the audio in Aiff Format, then burn.
2) Check that in your preferences for burning that the burn speed isn't set higher than what you are able to do.
3) Just check the Audio prefs overall for other settings, also check that the Audio isn't too long for the blank CD you are using.
4) Upgrade iTunes to version 4
