Title: Old School Anime Faves/Discussion!
Description: Because

Storm - July 18, 2008 01:54 PM (GMT)
I'll start it off!

My Favorite Anime is probably Tenchi Muyo, due to not only it being my first Anime, but also because it has a cast of characters from all different attitudes and quite a few hotties aswell. Also the theme songs are fuckin' awesome.

Dragonball Z getting a close 2nd with...well...do I even have to go into it?

And for some reason my third place finalist will have to be a tough battle between Outlaw Star and Monster Rancher. Outlaw Star had a very intriguing plot with enough action and hotties to keep me entertained for 26 episodes. Monster Rancher was up there in my favorites list growing up because it wasn't just any form of catching monsters, oh no, IT HAD TALKING EYE BALLS WITH LONG TOUNGES AND HOTNESS' WITH GOLEMS! and the bad guy was called muu...heheh...muu...

Iota - July 18, 2008 02:27 PM (GMT)
Lupin III, the second series.

Outlaw Star is also among my top favorites, but I somehow don't think it qualifies as 'old school.' I'm doubtful about Tenchi qualifying as well.

-DBZ? Seriously? Seriously?

Storm - July 18, 2008 02:30 PM (GMT)
Tenchi is old school for me, DBZ was better in it's older years (Saiyan&Frieza) and Outlaw Star was old for me. I'm 15, so pretty much anything that I watched back in 1st grade it's old.

But if ya wanna be strict about it I guess Ranma 1/2, Lupin (all) & Speed Racer.

Sailor Moon (1st season)

Sally McRottencrotch - July 18, 2008 03:10 PM (GMT)
Ronin. Fucking. Warriors.
Shit was tight.

Also, anime is just french for animation, so...

Batman and superman. Fuck yes

@Iota:

Lupin had a second series? When?

The first series was Green Jacket, the second was the more widely known Red Jacket, the third was a pink jacket (And not very good D:).

o-o Yeah, lemme change what I said and say the second season was the one I liked the most.

~ Something...something...double...

Wanky McApplesauce - July 18, 2008 07:45 PM (GMT)
Oh yeah.

Second Series I watched all of.

Third Series I think I may have avoided.

But First series....I only remember the green jacket in Castle of Cagliostro and one other movie.

Voltron! Bitches!

You want Old School, go back to the Eighties or older. Voltron, Transformers, Star Blazers, Battle of the Planets, Mobile Suit Gundam.

- Now you're cooking with gas!

Fireyone - July 18, 2008 11:04 PM (GMT)
I'm starting to like Mazinger Z, Getter Robo, and a lot of other classice Mecha Anime.

-Also Voltron, <3

Mobile Suit Gundam

Mobile Suit Gundam 0079
Zeta Gundam
Gundam 0083: Stardust Memory.

All three were very <3.

Fireyone - July 19, 2008 03:33 AM (GMT)
I haven't seen Zeta, or Double Zeta Gundam, either of them good?

Storm - July 19, 2008 10:20 PM (GMT)
OH! I forgot completely about Gunsmith Cats! Even if it was 3 episodes, it still kicked alot of ass. Them were some sexy chicks they were. I remember back in them olden days, all I had was after school television and a damned cup of milk...NOTHING MORE!

Also, I heard Zeta Gundam was awesome.

~PAUNCH!

Edwurdo - July 19, 2008 10:51 PM (GMT)
Only old skool animu I know that I actually cared enough to watch was Dragon Half, all two episodes of it

~ 'Twas funny stuff though

RusekuCozan - July 20, 2008 03:02 AM (GMT)

Anime from the 90s isn't exactly old-school.

Now if you want OLD SCHOOL, one word. GIGANTOR~

Storm - July 20, 2008 03:44 AM (GMT)
Dear lord, that's ALL the way the fuck back there. Maybe some Astro Boy while you're at it?

~Old school homie.

Well, it's old to me.

Winsom - July 23, 2008 09:01 AM (GMT)
Tenchi Muyo...Slayers...Escaflowne...

I wish I was more familiar with 80's anime, but, whatever.

Jman1236 - August 1, 2008 08:41 PM (GMT)
Voltron all the way.

Also some old school I also enjoy is Robotech, Macron 1(English Dub of Goshogun by saban, and G-force.

More recently I've gotten into a series over youtube called Nekketsu Saikyō Go-Saurer(Hotblooded Strongest Gosaurer) that aired in Japan back in 1993 but never came to america which sucks. I think it would of been a hit at the time with Power rangers being red-hot and the series is about a 5-grade class given control of dinosaur mechs by a mysterious being to save the earth from a empire of machines that want to turn the Earth and everyone and everything on it into machines.

Heres the opening of Gosaurer rather the second version of it

Strife_Hiro - August 1, 2008 11:11 PM (GMT)
Here he comes, here comes Speed Racer!
That and Voltron were the first animes I've ever seen.

Though I do admit that what I have seen of Lupin the 3rd was also pretty good. Perhaps, one day, I should consider finishing it.
