BTW where did you find the live-action movies, ive been looking everywhere ;~;

Storm - June 30, 2007 07:11 PM (GMT)
Oh! I saw it at the anime convention I went to in april. (Middle Tennessee Anime Convention) I went and watched it then afterwards I fell asleep in the chair and woke up during the japanese version of "The Ring"

Saturn - June 30, 2007 07:43 PM (GMT)
I'm not interested in anime as much as I was before. Ironically, I've bought more anime DVDs in the past year than I ever did when I was an obsessive little fangirl. Most of them were random DVDs I found at a discount price though. Hell, I just bought a copy of the first Noein: To Your Other Self DVD for $2 last night.

That all being said...what is this Lucky Star about? Some sort of magical girl anime?

Besides that the only animes I watch are Bleach, FLCL, and Death Note. No real plans in getting into any other animes at the moment.

Edit: Whoops, typo there.

Discussing Anime and you didn't include me? You should be ashamed of yourself Nickstorm. As for Death Note, I've only had the chance to read the first three volumes of the manga, and that was only cause one of me buddies in my unit had them. I did look it up on Wikipedia though, that place has everything.

It seems interesting enough to me, I'll be trying to keep up as best as I can. Same with some of the other recent shows like Bleah and Haruhi.

Strife_Hiro - June 30, 2007 09:03 PM (GMT)
I watch Bleach, GITS:SAC/2nd Gig, Case Closed, Yu-gi-oh GX (dub's actually starting to sound a lot like the abridged series, srsly), and recently gotten into Pokemon D/P (Man, it's actually kinda' good).

I'm yet to watch Lucky Star, I liked but couldn't get into Death Note (it's good, but it just never caught on to me), and did like but never finished Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.

Saturn - June 30, 2007 09:34 PM (GMT)
I'm Death Note manga deprived until September when I go back to school. I'm going to borrow volumes 9-12 from one of the guys in the school's anime club to finally finish reading it.

I also never got what the whole fuss about Haruhi was. I didn't find it particularly stunning at all.

...and I found out a few minutes ago that Fuse is showing Ergo Proxy. Since when did Fuse show anime? o.o

This is now a mecha anime thread. Everyone, speak of shows like Gundam, GaoGaiGar, Gurren-Lagann, etc.

To start us off, I offer this: GAOGAIGAR BURSTING OUT OF THE FUCKING SUN.

The only mecha anime I've watched that I truly thought was great was RahXephon. The rest have all ranged from good to decent to downright horrible...

...I'm looking at you, Neon Genesis Evangelion.

Don't forget The Big O. I believe that counts as a mech anime. Over all, I never cared for them either, just not my sub-genre.

Anime? I like anime. :O

My favorite is Love Hina. I don't care what any of you say, Love Hina has a kick ass plot, with deep romance and funny touches. I like romance, it makes a lot of romantic things, makes me happy.
I'm like Kakashi with Make out Paradise~ Or tactics~

I watched all of the Naruto eps, fillers included, in japneese. And all the manga to. Loved it. Angelic layer was ok, if you watch it in japaneese. DN Angel...was ehhhhh.

I like lucky star. And I LOOOOVVEE NEON GENESIS EVANGELLION/EVA/NGE/NEO GEO. I like it a whole bunch, even got the box set of it, which cost me a good $150. But it was worth it.

I still like FLCL and some others from Adult Swim. Inuyasha needs to just die. And, yeah.

<3 Shinobu. I'm like Delta with Shinobu, just I don't have a giant fetish and don't look at porn with her in it.

Don't worry; it has, anime wise. Actually, I think even the manga is finally finished up in Japan.

Edge - June 30, 2007 10:43 PM (GMT)
I'll admit it: I watch waaaay too damn much anime.

To sit down and list how many I've watched and enjoyed would take too long. So I won't.

-This post therefore was a waste of time! Ha ha.

Well, notice how they never actually kill Naraku? I bet you an ova series comes out.

Jojo's Bizarre Adventure - Stardust Crusaders

Fuck every other fighting animu ever, JJBA is the shit

EDIT: Watch Galaxy Angel, many lulz

Just don't bother with Galaxy Rune, that pretty much took a great big shit on everything that made GA so good

See, the anime ended because of lack of funding and general lack of interest by viewers. However, the manga kept running, intruducing new characters (like the final incarnation of Naraku) and many deaths (like Kanna, Rin, and Kikyo). I believe the manga has finally ended (or it is a volume or two away from it) with the death of Naraku and all his minions.

I've recently been finishing up some anime series that I'd started watching a while back. So far, I've finished up Slayers (over all amazing series), D.N.Angel, and Rurouni Kenshin.

Anime Freak - July 1, 2007 03:10 AM (GMT)
Hehehehehe, Slayers. Oh I love that series. It's like a cross between the awesomeness of Lord of the Rings and the Slap-Sticky goodness of the Three Stooges. XD

Digitalpotato - July 2, 2007 04:43 AM (GMT)
So I've been watching Bleach to see what all this fuss is about.

...so far, all I've seen is a more mature version of Yu Yu Hakusho crossed with Inuyasha...I think this is going to be another novelty anime like Inuyasha and Naruto are, and deteroirate into filler garbage/spinoff movies after awhile. (...Except for that the 2nd Inuyasha movie was pretty good)

I think Death Note's gonna replace Bleach once Ichigo goes god-mode.

Objection!

Bleach is Yu Yu Hakusho starring Cloud Strife as Yusuke.

And you are correct with the novelty anime statement. But for a nicer comparison, let's compare current anime to some old-school anime!

Naruto=DBZ (Show that the higher-ups won't let the original creator end)

One Piece=Dragonball (show that is genuinely good and still has a soul)

Bleach=Yu Yu Hakusho (show that people move to when they're bored of a different show)

Death Note=??????????? (never seen it)

Gundam Seed(any incarnation)=Mobile Suit Gundam(any incarnation) (DRAWN OUT AND BORING!!!!!!!)

Keroro Gunso=The Bible (if there was an anime called "The Bible", this doesn't refer to that, it refers to the actual Bible, because Keroro Gunso is better than God)

DisgruntledPostalEmployee - July 2, 2007 05:59 AM (GMT)
NOIR was pretty enjoyable, but I got to like the second-to-last episode and just gave up. For me, anime's good, but it doesn't really hold any lasting value. There's nothing to make me want to come back and watch more.
I think it's partially that the characters can be very predictable indeed.
You've got:
Cocky male character. Sassy, says "huh?" a lot. Girls like him.
Angry female character. Sassy, hits the male character a lot.
Older male character. Wise. Says "hmm" a lot and looks into the distance.
Cute animal/monster/robot. Wacky. Gets into wacky situations.
And so on.

Lesbian StrikerS Lover - July 2, 2007 06:43 AM (GMT)
Just for whatever the hell, the current anime I'm watching are:

Romeo x Juliet
Lucky Star
Nanoha StrikerS
Hitohira
Devil May Cry
Gurren-Lagann

This is the most anime I've followed at once. It was always a show or two before. But Gankutusuou is the best anime I've seen.

Only animes I truly enjoy are R.O.D. The TV, Last Exile, Serial Experiments Lain and Betterman.

Wolf - July 2, 2007 07:03 AM (GMT)
I saw R.O.D. a couple years ago, wasn't that bad of an anime. It did have a cool concept.

I'm sure I'd like it a little more if I watched it now though, since back then I was new to anime.

DisgruntledPostalEmployee - July 2, 2007 07:05 AM (GMT)
Wait, was that the one where the girl could control paper or something? I saw like one episode of that and thought it was pretty cool.

Wolf - July 2, 2007 07:06 AM (GMT)
Yeah, and if I recall there were three girls who could do it too.

Alastor Blackrose - July 2, 2007 07:13 AM (GMT)
R.O.D The TV is actually a sequel to the Read Or Die OVA. R.O.D The TV is the one with the three paper sisters. Last Exile is my favorite of all of them, though.

Ho, I loved watching that when it was on.

Lain was OK, but really wasn't my cup of tea. Never finished it. D=

Also, ROD is teh awesome. I've got the whole OVA series, and have watched the entire TV one all the way through (like, twice). It had a good concept, and plenty of well placed action. And it had England.
