Title: Thunderbirds
Description: Or "How Eastwood lost faith in mankind".

Grand Master Eastwood - April 8, 2004 10:21 AM (GMT)
Again.

Thunderbirds being the 2004 remake of the classic Seventies (Or was it the Sixties?) puppet sci-fi show.

Having been a fan of the show in my youth, this looks absolutely dire. I mean, they turned it into a cheesey kids action sci-fi! All it needs is a cheesey soft-rock/pop soundtrack, and hooray! Hollywood butchers some more classic British sci-fi, raising with it from its grave with its foul necromancy, reshaping the remains into a terrible abomination of a movie, designed for American young teenagers.

If there's any justice, the film will flop and all copies will be destroyed in a mystery fire.

- Harold Q. Eastwood, a Ford... bah...

And here I was thinking this would be a simple tribute topic to the Supermarionation series.

How wrong I was.

If they @#$% this up, I am personally going to kill them. Or rather, a voodoo doll in their image.

Hey, at least they've not gone after Stingray and Captain Scarlet yet.

And here I thought it was gonna be somethin' about the USAF demonstration team......

IF?! Have you watched the trailer? It's an abomination! The writers should be summarily executed, lest they blight yet more fine series' names with their abominable taint.

Urgh. All I can hope is that they never are allowed to touch the live-action Transformers film coming out in the near future...

- Harold Q. Eastwood, unclean! Unclean!

^OK, I admit it. I didn't watch the trailer. I'm still in denial over this.

On a slightly related topic, I say that any Thunderbirds computer game should be animated to resemble puppet animation. Or something. It would at least make it feel like Thunderbirds.

They'd better keep the ridiculously out-of-date (for present standards) TVs and radios from the show as well. Or heads will roll.

Aaahh... Hollywood. Seriously guys and gals, I don't think we really take the time to give them the proper cred they deserve for how incredibly much effort they put into ruining the shows we know and love. I mean, really, they've got to get up MIGTHY early in the morning in order to twist, defile and violate these shows into the atrocities they ultimately become, and I honestly believe that such dedication on Hollywoods behalf is worthy of applause.

Yeah, I'm not liking this, if you can decipher that from my scathingly satiric writing above. I am SO not liking this. This is not what I hope Thunderbirds will be remembered as... I suppose the americans really ARE in a conspiracy against the Old Worlders...

Legion - April 8, 2004 03:29 PM (GMT)
^I'm just hoping they don't go for the other two next. Captain Scarlet and Stingray. If they mess those up, then...

That's the problem. There's nothing really I can do.

I just watched that horrible trailer and I won't go within 20 miles of any theater that plays this crap. Where the hell do they get these terrible ideas from? I've been watch Thunderbirds on techTV for awhile now and this isn't even close.

Despite never actually having watched them, I get the feeling they're taking inspiration from the Spy Kids films. Which is bad, as those films are abominations.

- Harold Q. Eastwood, gaaah.

Ok seriously what the HELL are these guys doing with my childhood memories, oh wait that's right. SCREWING THEM SIDEWAYS WITH A RUSTY CHAINSAW.

Legion - April 8, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
The trailer's fully loaded, and I'm almost afraid to play the bloody thing. There are so many pathetic deviences from the show that its unbelievable. Just Brain's age is enough. But since when were there more than two/three people on Thunderbird 5?

Oh, there's only two. That still doesn't change the fact that the casting for the Hood is parthetic. He was always more, well, 'foreign', really. Can't think of a better way to describe it.

EDIT: ...

THOSE BASTARDS!

Heads are definately going to roll. No. People will die while watching this film. Seriously. It's going to be that crap.

Master Shake - April 8, 2004 09:19 PM (GMT)
Give it a chance, guys! This movie has Private Hudson vs Ghandi! IT'S CINEMA GOLD! OSCARS, BABY! OSCARS! *foams at the mouth, keels over*

^I don't think this is a joking matter. Hollywood has already screwed loads of franchises over. I don't want this to happen to one ofmy favourite childhood shows.

If you put kids in a leading role in a movie, you either need an extremely good director, or an extremely popular franchise. Thunderbirds has neither, unfortunately.
