could somebody tell how to actually count your bars when your writing a song

when the beat repeats

Yeah, but still theres ways to get around it....without sounding offbeat.
Like if I wrote a 16 how I would say it, then recorded over a beat and my bars were too long, it could sound even better....but yeah "Bars" come from the repetition throughout a track.
