I don't like having third party characters in Super Smash Bros. I don't want Snake, and I don't want Sonic. I've never really been that into Sonic games anyway, and having Sonic in the game doesn't excite me in the least. Thankfully they're only going to have a few.

Also, I'm kind of happy that it's been delayed to February. That's $50 more that I'll have to spend for Christmas. With Guitar Hero III and Super Mario Galaxy coming out, along with senior expenses for school, I'm gonna be running low on cash for a while.

As long as Super Smash Bros. isn't lead by third party characters, and the majority of the feel of it is "Nintendo-ish", I'm fine with it.

And Mega-man and Tails better not come in.

id like to see knuckles tails and shadow in it personally as unlockable stuffs

I love Super Smash Brothers Melee (it is, in fact, one out of three games that I actually have for Gamecube). I was unaware that there was a new one coming out, and I have to say that I'm indifferent to Sonic coming into the picture. I'm not entirly sure what the big controversey over letting him into the game is, and I never got into Sonic anyway. o_o?

Well, the controversy isn't necessarily with Sonic. It's about any and all third party characters being in the game. The thing about smash bros., at least in the first two, is that it only featured characters from first- or second-party Nintendo games (second-party being characters like any pokemon, since they're owned by The Pokemon Company, which is in turn owned by Nintendo). Snake, from Metal Gear Solid, was the first third-party character announced, so I guess the controversy would actually have been started with him.

while Snake did confuse me, its way to convinient to have play off of the fans desire to see Sonic and Mario face off...i can say that in order to have these characters in the game they made contracts with the one man who owned Snake, not Konami as a whole, and they talked to Sonic Team, not Sega....since the Sonic universe belongs in the line of competition with the Mario universe and well....Snakes first game was on the NES....i find this very tolerable and really dont expect to see Nintendo go any furthur

He didn't have to be more specific. Sonic was officially announced for Smash Bros Brawl. That's a solid fact, not speculation. He was just having a fanboy moment when he explained that Sonic would be in the game. :P

Also I went to bed tuesday night after looking at the site then checked again wednesday morning, and I had an experience just like mathias.

But as far as how I feel about Sonic in the game, I love it. The only thing you need to have to be in smash bros is a nintendo exclusive game, which sonic has quite a few. [The Adnvance/Ds plus sonic and mario at the olympic games.] And I've always been a Sonic fan boy so this is great news. Besides people have been drooling for sonic since melee was out.

Edit: Also, I just realized this is my 666th post, wierd.

Regardless of having proof, lionman, we don't really just give out news about things around here if we don't know that they're true. And obviously you don't care too much about the game if you don't even know to check the Smash Dojo for confirmation of stuff, so why bother demanding proof?

yeah my experience was it being late tuesday night with my friend and having just talked about how Sonic should be in the game... i was personally very very excited to see Ike and Diddy Kong and i knew seeing Sonic wouldve been perfect

so i went to bed just after midnight and i wasnt laying down for 10 minutes when he came knocking on my door and said "hey....Sonic's in the game" and i got up to see the very recently nintendo page and commenced to pooping in my pants

Wow,Sonic is making an appearance in Brawl!
I'm not really surprised since Nintendo and Sega had a good relationship throughout the year.
e.g.Sonic and Mario at the Olympic games. :)

My experience with Sonic was just sort of random. Decided to see updates for Smash Bros. And WHOA I just thought I was having a nightmare. But I wasn't. They really did put Sonic in, and his grinning image was starring evilly right back at me under the banner of "New Challenger Approaching!"

I couldn't believe it. SONIC IS NOT A SMASH BROS. THEY'RE NOT FROM THE SAME WOMB. They're step-brothers. >_>

think about this, so far there are going to be 28 starting characters for SSBB
in SSBM there were 14 starter characters....and 14 more...makeing 28 total


so....how many characters are going to be in SSBB total?? 50!!??

i think theyd run out of good nintendo characters by then...no wonder they grabbed the sonic universe...

Here are some characters that aren't brothers with Mario but appeared anyway.
Pit.Snake,Roy and Marth from Melee -_- and Wario(Intelligent systems made his first game.) :P

By brothers I meant characters from 1st and second party developers.

Kid Icarus which starred Pit was developed and published in 1986 for the NES. It was made by a group owned by Nintendo. The game is listed as #54 in the list of top 200 games of all time. Kid Icarus is highly difficult and frustrating, but a classic nonetheless.

Snake is a third-party character. True, he's only a stepbrother. But I've never played any game in the Solid Snake series, so I don't really know who he is. Strangely enough, I approve of his appearance. He looks like a fresh, new character different from the others.

Roy and Marth are Fire Emblem characters. Fire Emblem games are continuously made by Intelligent Systems, a division of Nintendo. The pair are smash brothers. No questions asked.

I don't need to elaborate on Wario.

I'll be happy for Sonic once I see some information regarding Super Sonic. At the moment though, I...

Crono probably has a much better chance. But I don't think it'll happen. Nintendo is having a hard enough time getting Chrono Trigger on the Virtual Console because of ownership rights. :gsseatdrop:

chrono trigger and all its characters belong to square and nintendo would have a very very hard time getting them in the game if they did try, which i doubt they would

i think SSBB isnt going to go any furthur now that they have Sonic and Snake

awts frog would be awesome to have in ssbb. Also, chrono trigger was a combined effort between square and enix, which is why I can't understand why square enix can't seem to produce a good game to save their lives.

yes i would agree in a heartbeat that a cast of castlevania characters such as Alucard, Soma, and ESPECIALLY Simon would FREAKIN PWN FACESAUCE

and i really really want to see them, Nintendo is a step closer to adding them because (mainly Simon and Soma) because they are part of Konami and Nintendo and Konami are friends, not to mention Simon and Soma have both starred only in Nintendo games
(plus Simon was in Captain N)


and ON that subject....who else would straight up poop there pants with glee if they saw CAPTAIN N as part of the cast of characters!!!!
