Title: Pokemon Diamond and Pearl
God of the Black Flame: Canti - March 29, 2007 01:50 AM (GMT)
I don't really know how many of you guys still actually like Pokemon, but I know there are some on this forum. Or at least there were. Anyway, is anyone else getting Diamond and/or Pearl? I've preordered them both from Gamestop, and I'm really looking forward to playing them. At 17, loads of people would call me a loser, but I just like Pokemon. I hafta catch 'em all. Opinions of the games anyone? Expectations? Complaints?
Speaking of Pokemon, I'm also planning to get Pokemon Battle Revolution when it comes out. But I don't think anyone else here but the_isaac and I have a Wii. If I'm wrong, please, tell me.

Well...to tell you truth...I also like Pokemon a little....(Not a Lot....just I like how the pokemon look like [planning to do animes])
But I don't want to buy it....for DS or GB or GBA.....
I want it for wii....if it will come out....
God of the Black Flame: Canti - March 29, 2007 02:18 AM (GMT)
Well there's Pokemon Battle Revolution that I mentioned. But I think you mean a traditional POkemon RPG for the Wii, right? Yeah, I've been wishing they would make a traditional Pokemon RPG for a home console for a long time. But honestly, I don't think that the traditional Pokemon RPGs are meant to be on home consoles. They're meant to be played anywhere. Alot of time has to be put into catching them all, and trading Pokemon with others would be a hastle (or at least it would have been, before the whole Wi-Fi connectivity thing). handhelds is really where they belong.
SuicuneSol - March 29, 2007 02:40 AM (GMT)
Loser.
But we're both losers so it's okay. XP I want to get a DS for this- I've been anticipating this game ever since I heard it would go online. One of the greatest experiences you could ever have with a Pokemon game is battling with real people. Very few people nowadays play Pokemon... or at least it's hard to find them gathered together.
The problem is... there are many things I need now in this time of my life: money, above all- pure evil in a physical form. I need a car, I need to pay for driving lessons, I've got to pay for next year's college, I need to buy a new computer... money money money... I'm so sick of it. And I work 2 hours a week for $6.75 an hour. I might not be able to get a DS at this rate.

the_isaac - March 29, 2007 08:22 AM (GMT)
Ah, life ain't easy suicune! I'm thinking of getting a DS so I can get these games, buuuut we'll see. I'll let you guys know if I buy one :}
The wii game doesn't really interest me (It'll probably just be like the colosseum games) but I'll prolly get it, as I'm chipping my console.
God of the Black Flame: Canti - March 29, 2007 02:03 PM (GMT)
It won't be like Colosseum. It'll be alot more like Pokemon Stadium, from the N64. There won't necessarily be a story where you control a trainer and you travel throughout a country, catching new Pokemon. Instead, you just go from battle stadium to battle stadium, battling with trainers and eventually with the gym leaders of each stadium. You can either rent Pokemon, like in the Stadium games, or you can upload your customized Pokemon from Diamond or Pearl. (See, my little sister just came and looked at the computer and said "hah, Pokemon") The rental Pokemon won't be as strong though, or as useful. To get the most out of the game, you would be better off using Pokemon from Diamond or Pearl.
Suicune, only 2 hours a week? Unless that's because you're very busy and don't have enough time to work more, you should probably get another job that gives you more hours to work. I usually work an average of 13 hours per week at $6.85 per hour. (well, I got a raise yesterday, so $7.15 from now on.) And alot more hours during the summer.

wagg! i thought ied comment though i havent been here for awile. all my friends are telling me to get it (cus thell be plaing it at lunch for the next 3 months) but i never played any of the other ones (cus my brother would hord them) i know its a realy good game so ill probably get it.
windseer1986 - March 31, 2007 05:13 AM (GMT)
The new monsters I've seen don't really look like pokemon at all. I'll probably get it, hopefully it will be better than the last set. I think they are bringing back the day/night system, and hopefully some other stuff from gold/silver.

pumpkin - April 1, 2007 09:31 PM (GMT)
still, you're more lucky than me D=
things come like 10 years after they was published to norway (maybe i overdid it a little, but it's sort of like that).
God of the Black Flame: Canti - April 6, 2007 03:46 PM (GMT)
And that's when imports become very useful. The DS doesn't have region lockouts, so it wouldn't matter what country the game and the DS someone was trying to play it in came from, even if they're from different countries, it'd still work. At least, Urahara (some people might remember him, most probably don't. He was a friend of mine who joined here for a while) has a DS from America, and he got the Japanese version of the first Bleach DS game, and it worked.
As for the Wii though, I think Wiis are region-specific.
SuicuneSol - April 7, 2007 12:09 AM (GMT)
Wait a sec...
Canti, if you imported your japanese version from Japan, and played it in America, you would be listed as "from Japan" because the version you're playing is from Japan? That means quite a few of the "Japanese" people who will be battling on Wi-fi will, in fact, not be Japanese. Right?
Also, which version does England sell? American version, or European version? Makes sense that it would be European version, because it is sold in Europe. On the other hand, the British also speak English, so they would not need to rely on Nintendo of Europe. ~_~
The reason why I have such a low paying job is because it was offered by a so-called family friend, so I don't dare back out of it. There have been times I've wanted to say, "Boss, I can't take dis an'more, man! I's, like, I had enough, dogg!"
Then she would say things like "This summer, I want you to work full-time. If you improve, I will give you a raise!"
I don't want to work full-time in a job like that! No way.
@Windseer1986:
Day-Night system is coming back better than before. There are "morning-daytime-noon-evening-night"- five stages of the day. We'll get used to this generation of Pokemon, just like we did all the ones before. Although, you do have to admit this one's even weirder than the last...
I'm sooooo disappointed that there are so many evolutions of old Pokemon. The generations seem to go like this-- original, unoriginal, original, unoriginal... and so on. Fluctuating.

Yay I have it! Them I mean!
So far, I'm not fond of the slightly 3D aspect of the overworld. Other than that, it's good so far. I named my rival Lor. I did that in Fire Red too.
My Wi-Fi code is 3909 3981 0583 if anyone has/gets either one and wants to add me. Also, of course, post your own then so I can get it. Or PM it if you're paranoid.
pumpkin - April 23, 2007 08:56 PM (GMT)
lol, lor?
(btw, where did he go?) >_>

lor is playing RO or something. He said this place is pretty much dead so he doesn't come here anymore.

Yes, this is true. But I still talk to him over AIM often.
Ha, Mewtation, that's cool. Did you add my friend code?

Update:

And, yeah, Canti. Catch you around!
FelixGSTLA - May 1, 2007 02:34 AM (GMT)
I'd post my code but I don't have my DS on me.
And are their any completely new concepts in Diamond and Pearl not in the past games?
God of the Black Flame: Canti - May 1, 2007 11:23 AM (GMT)
Well, of course there's the online-worldwide thing. There's also the Underground. Other than that, though, it's another Pokemon RPG. Oh yeah, and the Poketch, some of the apps are new things, but I'm not sure if that counts. Anyway, if you like Pokemon RPGs, you'll like this one too.
I still have my Master Ball! ninj4
260 Pokemon seen, 105 caught
You know what sucks really bad? When trading online, you can only seek Pokemon that are in your Pokedex, meaning you have to have at least seen the Pokemon before. That's not right. What if someone wants to complete their Pokedex but doesn't have the GBA games or Collosseum or something? OR Pokemon Ranger. Like me. I want Manaphy, but I am not going to buy and play through Pokemon Ranger just for that.

| There's also the Underground. |
What's that?
God of the Black Flame: Canti - May 1, 2007 09:10 PM (GMT)
Early in the game, you meet this guy, I think he's called the Underground Man. Anyway, he gives you the Explorer kit. This item allows you to go to the underground. It's like a huge underground maze where people can interact and play games together, because the underground is Wi-Fi enabled. (only local Wi-Fi, not worldwide) You can create a secret base there, as well as mining in the walls to find stuff. You can fine orbs, shards, and gems that you can trade with the Hikers in the underground for traps and stuff to lay down and hope that other people get caught in them. You can also find useful items like evolution stones and even fossils in the walls. If you're connected to other people throught the Underground, you can play Capture the Flag. I think that's about everything there is to the Underground. But I may have missed something.
The Underground is entirely optional. You can play through the whole game and never even go to it once.
FelixGSTLA - May 4, 2007 03:13 AM (GMT)
I finally got my ds back. My code is... 0473-4350-4495
felix777 - May 4, 2007 05:09 PM (GMT)
Haha I got it reserved and they almost sold my copy the day it came out.
But I still got it in the nick of time.
I'll post my codes and such later.
But currently my team is:
Empoleon
Luxray
Ponyta
Roserade
Staraptor
Lucario
hah
FelixGSTLA - May 5, 2007 11:03 PM (GMT)
Canti, I'm not sure whats wrong, but when I try to add you, I get a message saying that the friend code is incorrect. Im just wondering what is wrong...
felix777 - May 7, 2007 05:30 AM (GMT)
Hey guys where can I get one of those trainer cards?
God of the Black Flame: Canti - May 8, 2007 02:31 AM (GMT)
Adobe Photoshop.
Felix, I don't know what the problem is. I just double checked, the code i posted here is correct. I added you and I didn't have any problem. I don't see how it would know whether a code was invalid or not, I don't think it connects to Wi-Fi to check... I don't know what to tell you.
Know what else sucks? You can't transfer Pokemon from a GBA game if they know an HM move. My Latios AND my Latias both know Fly. I have to go find the move deleter -_- That's stupid... I suppose maybe it's because the HMs were changed. But still. Lame.
felix777 - May 9, 2007 05:33 AM (GMT)
Wait. I'm about to finish my pokedex.
So don't you have to send the old pokemon over and then re-catch them?
FelixGSTLA - May 11, 2007 06:21 AM (GMT)
I'll try and see what it is that is wrong... Just one question... Does the name matter?
SuicuneSol - May 12, 2007 12:58 AM (GMT)
Well, behold!
Just a couple hours ago, I purchased an Onyx Nintendo DS with two franklins I got for my birthday. Along with it, I captured a Pokemon Pearl. I now have Pokemon Pearl. But I do believe it'll be a while before I'm able to connect to WiFi.
FelixGSTLA - May 12, 2007 04:26 AM (GMT)
congrats on getting a DS!!! I'm just wondering... how much was it?
God of the Black Flame: Canti - May 26, 2007 02:46 PM (GMT)
Sorry it's been a while. I don't think the name matters, Felix, but if it does, my character's name is Ryo. Also, a DS Lite costs $129.99 I think.
SuicuneSol - May 26, 2007 06:18 PM (GMT)
Now that I've got it working...
Let me ask everyone how the WiFi experience has been for all of you. How is it? How bad is the scamming situation? How often do KNOW you see illegitimates?
...how is battling? How do most of you find friends to battle with? IS IT FUN?!!!
And where is everyone getting the new Pokemon artwork?!!!
ANSWER ME!! ...please? It's so empty, this site.
FRIEND CODE: Geno- 1289 4982 6715
FelixGSTLA - May 30, 2007 12:31 AM (GMT)
Haven't been here for a.. week or so. Well, to answer your questions, even though I know that its been a couple days since your post, the wi-fi is pretty useful but most people make crazy demands for their pokemon(especially legendaries) and there are quite a lot of cheated pokemon(in my perspective) such as event pokemon. Battling, supposing you mean friend code battling, I do not have much experience with, but most friend codes you can find on those pokemon forums with the friend code topics. And I'm not sure what you mean about the artwork... Could you please explain further?
SuicuneSol - May 30, 2007 03:56 AM (GMT)
It's quite alright. I've found the actual handrawn pictures of the various Pokemon on the internet.
I better find myself a nice Pokemon site to snuggle in.
FelixGSTLA - May 30, 2007 06:23 AM (GMT)
Noooo... That would mean that the last active member here would be gone(other than me and Im not very active) because you would find more time to spend there!!!
Marlin Beta - June 4, 2007 01:59 AM (GMT)
Well, I purchased Pokemon Diamond about a week ago and I'm rounding out the party of pokemon I want to send into some serious frays. I'm having a blast with the game, just like I knew I would from the old days. How's everyone else doing in pokemon these days?
Also, has anyone ever tried to use the DS Wifi on a dial-up connection?
SuicuneSol - June 4, 2007 03:59 AM (GMT)
*fangirl scream*
AHHHH!!!! Marlin has purchased a Pokemon game?!! This is... this is... monumental! Does everyone know that Marlin-sama hasn't purchased a Pokemon game since... the year of 2000? He says he doesn't ever want to play another Pokemon game because he can't import his old team!
Marlin-sama, you silly goose. XD When you finally get bored with Diamond, you ought to grab the Ruby/Sapphire. Though, it might not be necessary since almost every Pokemon between Diamond and Pearl can be obtained (WiFi helps too!)
I haven't gotten to the Elite Four yet because Victory Road is a little harsh, but I'm getting there steadily. The only complaints I have are that the Pokemon selection throughout most of the game is pretty small. The 4th generation is somewhat disappointing to me. For instance, you can find Ponytas almost anywhere in the center region of Sinnoh.
Because of this, it's hard to make a unique team in the beginning of the game (for instance, I know a lot of people who own Luxrays and Staraptors; there are Luxrays and Staraptors everywhere, though they are indeed very cool.)
I'm not sure Dial-up will work well, Marlin. Don't they have wireless at the University, Marlin-sama? If you can't use it, I guess you can purchase Nintendo's Portable Wireless device.
If you do get it working, I would find it an almost euphoric pleasure to battle you.
