Title: Poetry Showdown
Description: Battle to make the best poem...

Max - February 28, 2004 12:57 AM (GMT)
This thread is now the official thread where Suicune and I will face off against each other in a poetry match...first, though, preparations should be made. We need rules and regulations for this and how exactly it will work and how it'll be judged. I'll leave the complicated details to...someone else.

Death Aven - February 28, 2004 12:59 AM (GMT)
Thank you max! but can you tell me how to make seprate posts!

Max - February 28, 2004 01:07 AM (GMT)
I'm not sure if I want to say how...I mean, there are enough threads to keep track of for me as it is. The more seperate threads, the less chance of your voice being heard. Anyway, let's not change the subject. We're thinking of rules and regulations for the poetry showdown.

Death Aven - February 28, 2004 01:18 AM (GMT)
EVIL MAN I wont make that many if you email em to me pwezze.

SuicuneSol - February 28, 2004 04:54 PM (GMT)
First we need rules. I want to add one rule myself: No Haikus. Next, we need a judge or two. Not just one judge. Opinions will differ. I'm not sure who should be the judges. Maybe Marlin....and...his metallic female friend.

Oh, and I think all should have the honor of participating. Not just Max and I. Anyone who wants to participate can. Another thing though, how long should this contest last? A week? A month? We should decide.

Lor - February 28, 2004 05:00 PM (GMT)
suicune id be glad to judge this event. so i say we shud have 3 judges. i want to be one, then we need 2 more.

Death Aven - February 29, 2004 02:00 AM (GMT)
I volnteer along with ama ! ^_^

Max - February 29, 2004 02:11 AM (GMT)
Hmm...very good. I say it should last as long as we want it to last. The first one to give up loses perhaps? But Suicune, I think it should just be you and me, because too many would cause a confusion. Just you and me for now...and then later someone else can hold their own seperate duel. I have a few rules to add of my own...but they can be rejected if they seem too unreasonable.
1. We each write a poem based on what subject we are given for it.
2. The judges take turns deciding what subject to write about (please, try not to give us anything too difficult to write about)
3. No re-using previously written poems.
4. No poem should be longer than 10 lines.
5. The judges must try not to pick a favorite author. It's the individual poem being judged, not the author himself.
Well, that pretty much sums up some of the regulations. Any objections? Additions?

SuicuneSol - February 29, 2004 03:43 AM (GMT)
OK fine. No others. Just us. However, no poem under 10 lines? That's a bit unnerving. How about anything under 21 lines? I think that's fine don't you think?
And....I think the judges should test us to our limits. After all, this is a poetry contest. So I think the judges should give us the hardest or the easiest subjects they have in mind. We both do our best to create a poem using that subject.
That's basically what I want changed. But another thing: Someone's going to have to PM Marlin and ask him to be a judge. Or should I do it?

Lor - February 29, 2004 06:30 PM (GMT)
you do it suicune. so its agreed that me and marlin are 2 judges. is cloud the 3rd, or did you have someone else in mind?

SuicuneSol - February 29, 2004 06:44 PM (GMT)
I'm thinking Silver, Marlin, and one of you guys(Cloud or Alex). Not sure which one of you.

Lor - February 29, 2004 06:51 PM (GMT)
ay i said i was first

SuicuneSol - February 29, 2004 06:53 PM (GMT)
OK fine.

Judges:

Silver
Alex
Maybe Marlin

Death Aven - February 29, 2004 06:55 PM (GMT)
I was the first because I started this.
SO I WILL BE THE 3rd JUDGE

Lor - February 29, 2004 06:58 PM (GMT)
you did not start this. i was the first to say i would judge, so there should be no question to my being a judge. you should be trying for marlins if we cant get him, not mine.

SuicuneSol - February 29, 2004 06:58 PM (GMT)
Hmmm. This is a hard decision. I've got an idea! How about Cloud and Alex face off in a Poetry Showdown to decide who will be the 3rd judge!!!! Nah....just kidding.
What do you think Max? Who should be the 3rd judge?

Lor - February 29, 2004 07:02 PM (GMT)
suicune, i was the first to say i would judge, therefore i should be judge number one. cloud was second, so he should be number 2. i think you should be choosing between silver and marlin, not cloud and i. might i also add im holding a 98 in literature and a 100 in language classes.

SuicuneSol - February 29, 2004 07:10 PM (GMT)
Cloud did come up with the whole contest idea. But you did say you wanted to judge first....
Well considering Marlin is more mature then the rest of us maybe he should be a judge. We need feminine opinions so Silver is mandatory. Hmmm....alright! We'll have 4 judges! Marlin, Silver, Alex, and Cloud.

Lor - February 29, 2004 07:11 PM (GMT)
i guess so. so are each of us gonna be marking individual things? i say we should give marks out of 10

Death Aven - February 29, 2004 07:13 PM (GMT)
I truly agree.
Suicune you are cheif of problem solving ^_^

Lor - February 29, 2004 07:15 PM (GMT)
get writing you 2

Death Aven - February 29, 2004 07:18 PM (GMT)
Yes I am eger to see what you to can come up with! ^_^

Max - February 29, 2004 08:27 PM (GMT)
<_< Are we almost done figuring out the rules and regulations? So far, everything seems reasonable...Let's just try not to overdo this thing. Don't want the fun taken out of it, do we?

Death Aven - February 29, 2004 08:32 PM (GMT)
RULES:
1 no curse words.
2 must be 10 lines or more
3 no capping on eachother

Hows that for a start! ^_^

SuicuneSol - February 29, 2004 09:14 PM (GMT)
Ahhh...forget it. Let's just get this contest going. Marlin however has not replied to my request of him being a judge. First we need a subject. Come up with a subject.

Death Aven - February 29, 2004 09:20 PM (GMT)

SuicuneSol - March 2, 2004 12:10 AM (GMT)
Official Announcement

Ok anyway, here's an official announcement because I'm the one who emailed the judges to judge the poems.

Marlin has agreed to judge. I just email him anytime a new poem is posted.

Silver has also agreed to be a judge. Hooray!

And I'm sure Cloud and Alex want to be judges so yeah.

This contest shall last Sixteen Days. Starting from tommorow, which happens to be Asura, it starts. Max gets to post the first poem on the subject.

The subject shall be decided by Alex first.
Then Cloud will post the next subject the next day.
Then good ol' Silver will announce the next subject to write.
Marlin, being last, will post the last subject.

Now, you are given 4 days in which you may write the poem about that certain subject. At the end of the 4 days, the judges will judge both competing poems and announce the scores. They will give it a rating from 1 to 5 stars.

Example: Tommorow, the contest starts. Within the next 4 days Max and I must post both our poems about the subject we are given. At the end of the four days, the judges rate the poems.

On the 5th day, Cloud gives the subject. Max and I once again must forge a poem about the subject. The judges rate them and post score.

And so on and so forth. This will go on until the 16th day, which presumably is March 17th, which happens to be St. Patricks Day. :P

PRIZES: I'm somewhat in awe that no one mentioned prizes. So, I have decided to say this: "The winner of this contest shall have the ultimate honor of recieving a custom made avatar and the title of the First Poetry Contest Winner of Aerie Of The Roc. Max, if you win, you get to have a custom made avatar, and the title of a Poetry Contest winner. If I win, I get to give myself the avatar and the title. If anyone has any objections, feel free to shout."
(What I mean by title is a title that says that you won the First Poetry Contest. Place it on your signature.)

Anyway, I hope all who participate are present. Good Luck, and have fun!

Note: (Keep all spamming to a minimum. If you have a comment about a certain poem, please post only one per poem.) Thank you.

Lor - March 2, 2004 12:52 AM (GMT)
hmmm. ok. i challenge both of you to write about........ha.......beheaded chickens.....let the contest begin.

SuicuneSol - March 2, 2004 12:59 AM (GMT)
Even though it sounds quite goofy, Alex is the judge. There, beheaded chickens is our topic. Max and I are going to have to write about beheaded chickens. You can't object Max. He's a judge and chose the subject. No complaints.

Lor - March 2, 2004 01:02 AM (GMT)
humm i truly am a piece of crap haha i gotta see what you guys come up with.
