If for some reason you do not have an instruction booklet that came with your game cartridge, or got the game from somewhere else that doesnt supply intruction booklets, and don't know how to transfer data, then read on!

How to Transfer Data (New Game)

Link Cable Transfer Directions:

1. Insert Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age into two GBA's.

2. Connect the two Game Boy Advances with a Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable and turn them on.

3. On the Golden Sun title screen, hold down the R and Left Buttons, then press Start. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Send," and press the A Button to confirm.

Note: If there is no transferrable data (i.e. no completed game) in Golden Sun, the "Send" option will not appear.

4. Highlight the file you wish to transfer data from, and press the A Button.

5. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Cable," and press the A Button.

6. On the Golden Sun: The Lost Age title screen, press Start. Highlight "New Game," and press the A Button.

7. Enter a name for the character, highlight "End," and press the A Button. A message appears asking if you would like to transfer data. Highlight "Yes," and press the A Button.

8. Highlight "Link," and press the A Button. Data will transfer automatically, and the transferred characters will appear on the screen.

9. Press Start, and enter a name for the character. Highlight "End," and press the A Button to begin the game.


Password Transfer Directions:

1. Insert Golden Sun into a Game Boy Advance and turn it on.

2. On the title screen, hold down the R and Left Buttons, then press Start. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Send," and press the A Button.

Note: If there is no transferrable data (i.e. no completed game) in Golden Sun, the "Send" option will not appear.

3. Highlight the file you wish to transfer data from, and press the A Button.

4. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Password," and press the A Button.

5. Select the Gold, Silver, or Bronze passwords, and press the A Button. Write down the password that appears.

6. Insert Golden Sun: The Lost Age into a Game Boy Advance and turn it on.

7. On the title screen, press Start. Highlight "New Game," and press the A Button.

8. Enter a name for the character, highlight "End," and press the A Button. A message appears asking if you would like to transfer data. Highlight "Yes," and press the A Button.

9. Highlight "Password," and press the A Button. Select the Gold, Silver, or Bronze passwords, and press the A Button.

10. Enter the password, and "Password Accepted" should appear on the screen. Press the A Button and enter a name for the character. Highlight "End" and press the A Button.

11. Press Start to begin the game.


Methods for "started game"

Cable Transfer to a Started Game:

1. Insert Golden Sun and Golden Sun: The Lost Age into two AGB's.

2. Connect the two Game Boy Advances with a Game Boy Advance Game Link Cable and turn them on.

3. On the Golden Sun title screen, hold down the R and Left Buttons, then press Start. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Send," and press the A Button to confirm.

Note: If there is no transferrable data (i.e. no completed game) in Golden Sun, the "Send" option will not appear.

4. Highlight the file you wish to transfer data from, and press the A Button to confirm.

5. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Cable," and press the A Button to confirm.

6. On the Golden Sun: The Lost Age title screen, press Start. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Update," and press the A Button to confirm.

7. Highlight the file you wish to transfer data to, and press the A Button to confirm.

8. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Link," and press the A Button to confirm. Data will transfer automatically, and the transferred characters will appear on the screen.

9. Press Start to continue the game from the last save point.


Password Transfer to a Started Game Directions:

1. Insert Golden Sun into a Game Boy Advance and turn it on.

2. On the title screen, hold down the R and Left Buttons, then press Start. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Send," and press the A Button.

Note: If there is no transferrable data (i.e. no completed game) in Golden Sun, the "Send" option will not appear.

3. Highlight the file you wish to transfer data from, and press the A Button.

4. Use the Control Pad to highlight "Password," and press the A Button.

5. Select the Gold, Silver, or Bronze passwords, and press the A Button to confirm. Write down the password that appears.

The link is the best but, if u don't have another gameboy lying around, then the password is the best.

if u type in gold, and type in the whole password, how does the game know all the data?

You ever played Animal Crossing? It's like the password system. you get a certain password and it will give you one of hundreds of items and it will only work for one person.
