Title: Legend Of Zelda "Cubed" Update Topic
Description: UPDATED LAST: AUGUST 16!!!

SuicuneSol - March 21, 2005 03:50 AM (GMT)
I felt the need to make a new topic out of this.

But...there's more SCREENSHOTS AND FOOTAGE!!! Don't worry, as they are directly from the official Nintendo Website. Imagine that?

The footage is on the website. It's great looking. And now I want to get a Gamecube again. Here's a link to it: Nintendo Official Website: Windwaker II

But, in case you too lazy to click the link, here are some screenshots. I can't provide you footage, so you'll have to visit the actual site for that.

Oops. I have to go. Will post the rest later.

Marlin ßeta - March 21, 2005 04:16 AM (GMT)
Very nice. But I've already seen these. ^_^

But Suicune, don't call it Wind Waker II. That's misleading. The game has not been named yet. Call it something like: TLoZ: GC. B)

SuicuneSol - March 21, 2005 04:25 AM (GMT)
Oh dang it. I'm late aren't I? '_'

What? But I thought I heard a couple of sources saying that it was the sequel to WW. Oh...well okay. It is unnamed after all, after refering to the site.

Do you know what I think? I think the next focus of Aerie Of The Roc should be this game here. I think it's newness will revive the Aerie. That is, if we're the first site to cover it. We could gain a lot from it...

Marlin ßeta - March 21, 2005 04:59 AM (GMT)
Hmmm. Nobody would come here for info on Zelda. I tried that in the past and there are just too many good Zelda sites out there. It would take too much work to make the Aerie competitive with them. In fact, I tried to get some Zelda sites that accept non-Zelda sites to affiliate with me. #-_- It seems they're all elitist jerkwads who won't even reply to my E-mails. I have a huge grudge against the online Zelda community for that scoff I received. I've already decided that Fire Emblem will be the Aerie's next focus. I'm still working out the details of some walkthroughs I might be able to borrow from other sites and sources.

Thanks for the proposal, but no. :(

SuicuneSol - March 21, 2005 05:10 AM (GMT)
Okay then. Fire Emblem. AH YES!! Great idea! If we could cover the upcoming Fire Emblem games, we could appeal to a larger audience! If we do it before the other sites do, we can gain wide-respect! We need walkthroughs! Art! Sprites! Guides! Fanfiction! Fanart! And profiles!

*Bows* I'll help in any way I can.

Oops. Off-topic. It's interesting how quickly the topic changed so quickly. :D

ZaberTheAlmighty - March 21, 2005 02:00 PM (GMT)
I've seen those screen shots. That game has possibly some of the best graphics for the LoZ games.

Snipe104 - March 21, 2005 03:11 PM (GMT)
Speaking of Wind Waker II, that stirred up a memory in my mind. I remember seeing an article for a sequel to Wind Waker. It said the game was released only in Japan and it had a different name. It was when Link goes off with Tetra and her pirates. If I remeber right, it had something to do with searching for fairies.

the_isaac - March 21, 2005 05:13 PM (GMT)
www.zelda.com have the movie where all these screens have been taken. Seems pretty awesome, although, I too saw this some time ago :P

felix777 - March 21, 2005 05:20 PM (GMT)
^_^ well if its for the good of the site ill go buy and play fire emblem ( its good right? )
And ill help with walkthroughs and such but dont u think this should be done on the main page??? ( the walkthrough and stuff )

SuicuneSol - March 22, 2005 01:46 AM (GMT)
But did everyone see this "interview" on Mr. Miyamoto and his pal?

How is the game coming along? How long has the game been in development?

Miyamoto: By E3 next year you can play the demo. As for how far? The game is running. It's now just a matter of putting in the finishing touches.

What will be the game's storyline?

Aonuma: Well generally you know we like to present the main theme to you when we present the entire game in a format you can play. You'll be happy to know we have a strong theme. One thing I can say is that in the past we've focused on a young Link growing into a more mature Link. This time we're going to be focusing heavily on the more mature, grown-up Link and with that in mind we're going to be looking into ways to express him as an older individual by implementing certain features into the game.

Will the game play be the same as Wind Waker?

Aonuma: To show Link in his grown-up role, the question is going to be what kind of control scheme should we implement that reflects Link's maturity.

Miyamoto: One of the things I've wanted to see in the eighteen years of the franchise is more puzzle-solving and so I've asked Mr. Aonuma to go with that in the game's development.

Is this game about Link returning to Hyrule and is this the true sequel to "Ocarina"?

Aonuma: Unfortunately I can't reveal that at this time. Wait a little longer.

Will there be cut scenes and voice talent this time?

Aonuma: I don't want Link to talk very much. Maybe I'll record my own voice and that will be Link's voice! [laughs] I'll have to learn how to speak English, of course.

ZaberTheAlmighty - March 22, 2005 01:51 AM (GMT)
Woah, awesome. I can't wait! >.<

Ack! So many unanswered questions...

SuicuneSol - March 22, 2005 01:58 AM (GMT)
That was done in the 2004 E3. I guess we can expect the demo this year.

Does anyone hear want Link to talk? I don't. Just his regular "YAH!!!!" "HAHHKK!!!" "GYAH!!!!"

Brendor The Ogre Cleaver - March 22, 2005 02:04 AM (GMT)
Maybe a What?!! when he starts talking/encounter something new. Or a Blood curdling scream when he dies or improve the one for falling.

But then again ya cant beat the classics! Did ya know that the 1st 3 games they used the same voice sound?

Marlin ßeta - March 22, 2005 02:55 AM (GMT)
Actually, I have a clip of Link's voice in japanese. I won't play it in my next radio show, but I can give you a link to download it if you want to hear. Lets see. Here:

http://www.emuparadise.org/soundtracks/LoZSaD/Disc1/

It's listed under track 09 entitled "Sound Drama Two People - Introductory Chapter"

However, I've never heard of an English voice. I listen to a lot of japanese with all the anime I watch, so I can easily put a voice and a face together. B) Zelda's voice is on there as well (and if I'm not mistaken, so is Link's mother). o_o?

ZaberTheAlmighty - March 22, 2005 03:01 AM (GMT)
Oh my God, that's EXACTLY how I thought Link would sound!! :)

What they should do is have him talk. Have him actually say things, but use that awesome Jap. voice and have subtitles. That would own.

...perhaps - March 22, 2005 03:02 AM (GMT)
I don't want link speaking actual language. My little brother tried to apply English interpretations to things he "said" in Soul Caliber II and it made me mad.

ZaberTheAlmighty - March 22, 2005 04:34 AM (GMT)
I've always thought Link should talk. He'd be much cooler to me. Specially in that Jap. voice.

SuicuneSol - March 22, 2005 05:08 AM (GMT)
I don't know...that would give Link a personality. Giving Link a personality would turn the game into a real RPG, not that it's not a real RPG already.

As for the japanese voices with subtitles, it would be nice. For us. But I think it would turn a lot of people off. Nintendo would never do that.

Oh and Marlin? About the Sound Drama...are there more chapters of it?

ZaberTheAlmighty - March 22, 2005 05:10 AM (GMT)
How could anyone not like that idea? You get the original voice and don't have to @#$% it up. But, what works for some, doesn't work for others, I suppose.

SuicuneSol - March 22, 2005 05:28 AM (GMT)
But you see...you can't have Link have a personality and talk and have opinions about things...it's just not right... '-_-. It's an adventure/action/Role-playing-game. I mean don't give Link a speaking voice at all, even if it's japanese.

How could I make you understand what I mean... :ninja:

That's the only version I'm aware of. I don't know of any continuations or extras. I actually found that on accident while looking for soundtracks. '-_-

But I agree. Giving Link a voice would be like giving Samus a voice. The game gets along just fine without 'em and sometimes it's not the best idea to mess with perfection. However, I'd almost like to see it just once to see if I could even tolerate such a radical change.

Starfox without live voice acting would be terrible. But a text-based story makes TLoZ more like a book, you know? B)

ZaberTheAlmighty - March 22, 2005 06:20 AM (GMT)
O...kay. Out numbered. Call in reinforcements. :ninja:

*talks into walkie talkie* What? We have no reinforcements...? '-_- Run! :C

I'm not saying he'd talk all the time...like in certain cutscenes or something like that...

God of the Black Flame: Canti - March 22, 2005 08:11 PM (GMT)
I agree with Zaber! Link should talk. But, in cut scenes only... Well, actually, I wouldn't mind having talking throughout the game. But, I'd also like it better in english. Yeah........ I don't really see how a voice gives someone a personality anyway. Er... wait, now that I think about it, we were talking about this in english class just the other day, with lines from Shakespeare. How like, somebody could take different lines and say them a different way to make a different personality. Ok, so I see what you mean. But I don't care if Link has his own personality. It's not like I gave him one myself.

SuicuneSol - March 24, 2005 05:13 AM (GMT)
Oho HO! Is that so, Canti? I think everyone who plays as Link in their game gives him their personality. Think about it, Flame God.

Mathias - March 24, 2005 06:35 AM (GMT)
actually, link has spoken before. in legend of zelda; links awakening, our hero said one or two things, i just dont remember what he said
also, nintendo has officially anounced the "working title" of the game to just be "The Legend of Zelda" and nothing else
and its cool that link doesnt talk because i always name him Matthew and it feels like its actually me running around in the green tunic cilling octoroks

(hehe, cilling)

Snipe104 - March 24, 2005 02:15 PM (GMT)
He has spoken? I remember a lot from that game. The dungeons, the mirror, and the sreen warp glitch along with many more stuff. But I don't remember him speaking anything.

God of the Black Flame: Canti - March 24, 2005 07:54 PM (GMT)
Yes. Ye, it is so, Suicune. I don't even give him my own name. I name him Link. Same thing I do with most characters who already have names. Except during the time i went on a 'Ryo' spree and named every character I controlled 'Ryo'. '-_-

the_isaac - March 24, 2005 08:45 PM (GMT)
I've started naming my characters after my own name. ^_^ It's really cool I think :P B)

SuicuneSol - March 24, 2005 08:58 PM (GMT)
I used to call everyone Nayru. I named my character Nayru.

Now it's Fiore. I call everyone Fiore now.

...perhaps - March 24, 2005 10:25 PM (GMT)
I always give nameable characters spins off of my own name, excepting when you can name all the characters in the game, and then I usually come up with some really dumb name. I give my Dragon Warrior Monsters names that are random pronounceable constructions of four letters from their species name(you only get four), or occasionally I name them HORK or OGRE just for the heck of it(I always do all caps with my monsters). I also named a gigantes " 89 " once...

ZaberTheAlmighty - March 25, 2005 05:33 AM (GMT)
Don't get off topic here! Canti, j00 roxxors. Link should have a personality. I've always pictured him a mysterious swordsman who didn't really need to talk. There are times where he supposedly "talks" because the characters have reactions to something he "said."

But anyways, there should be very well-graphiced cut scenes where he talks. Like in a final fight against Ganon or whoever. It wouldn't be like Tales of Symphonia. Lloyd talked TOO MUCH. I too would actually prefer he had his own personality so you know what he thinks of everything, not just you. Although, I could spend hours playing OoT, MM, and WW just making up stories, it wouldn't hurt at all if the boy could speak!

SuicuneSol - April 23, 2005 08:12 PM (GMT)
HEY WAY!!!

We have more information regarding the Zelda "cubed" game! ^_^

The newest issue of Hobby Consolas magazine has revealed a plethora of new information about the next GameCube-based Legend of Zelda title. The original report was written by a media member who went to Japan and played a few demos, gaining exclusive details in the process. According to said report, the game will geographically be the largest Legend of Zelda game to date, as it is estimated to be between two and three times the size of the Nintendo 64's Legend of Zelda: The Ocarina of Time. The chunk of time will be spent in this huge world could potentially be 70 hours. With that in mind, the horse that Link has been seen riding in the promotional trailers looks more important than may have been previously suspected.

One of the demos sets players in control of a teenage Link adorned in farmer's clothing and living in Tauro Village. The reporter said that the village was quite massive and had many different zones. This is likely to be one of the first areas, if not the very first area players will experience, because the town worked like a big tutorial to help give instruction and teach the game's basics. While this might sound like a chore to series veterens, long-time Zelda fans were also in mind when these first activities were being planned. Director Eiji Aonuma is sure that those players will still find the opening segments entertaining. Of course, this tutorial may be in place due to the fact that the gameplay will be somewhat evolved from previous Zelda titles; it might be similar in concept and purpose to the in-game instructions found in The Ocarina of Time.

The second demo the writer played took place on a ranch. Link was on horseback and given the task of guiding cattle into the proper stalls within an allotted time period. Link was also on horseback in the third demo, but the mood was not as lighthearted as it was in the second demo. This is because other mounted warriors were attacking Link. Thus, the player's job was to take out the enemies, which was done by using a sword or a bow and arrow. All the while, Link had to dodge attacks from near and far.

The game's controls will feel familiar to those who've played previous games in the series. Automatic jumping returns, as well as trigger-based targeting, which requires use of the GameCube controller's L button.

Of the graphics, Eiji Aounuma revealed that the character models were made in a manga style. When talking about the game's clear water, he mentioned that the clarity would open up a "subaquatic" world but ended his teasing at that. Aounuma is saving most other information for E3.

Silver Chaos Adept - April 23, 2005 08:59 PM (GMT)
Ooooh, a subaquatic world? I hope that means the return of the Zoras!
This sounds really good... Can't wait for Nintendo to hurry up and finish making it...

ZaberTheAlmighty - April 23, 2005 10:36 PM (GMT)
It's, uh...available for reserving. Coming in October, I think.

This game sounds so good. I want to play as like on horseback and shoot stuff with a bow. Maybe I can persuade (punch) my brother into buying it and letting me use a save file....
