I was in the shrine of the sea god but I can't move the rope. I know you need the 'lash' psynergy, but none of my characters have this ability. What do I do???

First off, Lash is something called an acquired psynergy. It means you can only use it when you gain a certain item. When you get that item, the Lash Pebble, you will be able to use Lash.
Here's a tip: There will be many places throughout your adventure where you will not be able to pass because you have gotten past a certain obstacle yet. When you come up against a door that cannot be opened, you must pass it and move on. And later when you find the pebble, you can come back. The place the pebble is located is in Kandorean Temple which is further south. Follow the trails on the world map. Remember to explore. ;)
i had that same problem when i started gs2. i couldn't get pass the room in kanderon temple where there are two geysers and a pillar in it.
