Title: Fall Castle , we made History!
Description: just a few thoughts.,..

Maverick - September 29, 2003 09:09 PM (GMT)
Hey All,

First i want to thank all the SCP'ers , and pump players everywhere for coming out in force for this event. As Well as EMR Paintball, the Marshals, Action Markers, and the Attackers, for giving us a great game.. The SCP crew did a bang up job , and worked relentlessly at the courtesy tent . I need to give special recognition to Cargo, AMhildreth, and Worptangel, who were at the tent when i couldnt be, took care of issues without hessitation, and generally made my life much, much easier than it could have been. Farmland guys, THANKYOU! for helping with the breakdown of the tent, and generally just being a great bunch of guys..theres so many more id like to give props too, but ill just thank everone, you all rock!
The sense of community in the air was unmatched , and i can honestly say that i walked away from this event exhausted, sore, and overwhelmed by the thought of all my new friends out there..had the time of my life, and it was the best paintball event i have ever attended..

We had some great food as well.. Shootist brought the best sausage i have ever had, LadyMarshal cooked a turkey that was absolutly incredible, and i could go on and on.. we even fed a few semi players (on condition they at least try out a pump :) )

Some highlights for me, In no particular order:
  • Drooling over Action Markers new prototype pnuematic assist Illusion
  • Watching semi players litterally run in retreat , as they figured out this wasnt going to be nearly as easy as they thought.
  • Hearing several times , semi players say "how can they shoot a PUMP that fast?" as they walked to the dead box
  • Playing besides my fellow defenders, It was an Honor and a priveledge gentlemen and ladies..
  • Hearing the Crowd ROAR at the awards ceremony, as Blue(owns EMR) tossed out SCP tubes and Stickers to them, it was incredible.
  • Watching every defender after the big game, and realising that not one person felt defeated.
  • Chanting "WE DONT SUCK" in the Castle , after the game, to let the Attackers know, we may have lost the battle, but they could never defeat us!
  • Spending time with the SCP mod staff, and members, and knowing that I have made some of the best friends one could ever hope for.
  • Watching Bored383 slip in the mud, trying to catch a FRS that someone had dropped, landing on his bad side..then watching him shake off what must have been incredebly painfull and through clenched teeth, say only " I am GOING TO SHOOT ATTACKERS!" and he did, took out a whole squad himself if i remember correctly...
  • Getting covered with shampoo setting up the tents, long story..
  • Donating my original Line SI Skirmish, on behalf of The Stock Class Paintball Network,to the EMR Paintball Museum, and knowing itll be in great hands.
  • Hanging with the A/M guys, Gunslingers, and the Marshals, and hearing all those great stories :D.
there is more, but in my advil inspired state, ill leave the rest for another time.

I hope everyone who attended enjoyed themselves as well.. thanks foir making it great guys and gals.. your all awesome..

I must profess a big THANK YOU to SCP for the companionship and sponsorship they gave to this event and to me (companionship...not sponsorship on that last part).

It was wonderfull that this event happened, and though senerario may not be my thing, I will always turn out for any event like this for the companionship alone :)

Thanks to the SCP courtesy tent! It was fun to set up and funner to sit under and talk about paintball. In those talks, I learned how much in common I had with so many of my fellow stock class players, it was uncanny.

Thanks also for sharing a bunkhouse. We in the SCP bunkhouse all seemed to have a similar sleep ethic that worked well together. (And I learned I still mumble in my sleep.)

I greatly appreciated the sausage (Thanks Shootist). It made the choice of venue for eating so much simpler.

amhildreth - September 30, 2003 11:19 AM (GMT)
there wer PLENTY of mental snapshots that will stick with me for a long time as well...

* all of that sausage that Shootist brough. He's a great guy, a very knowledgable conversationalist, and knows how to eat!
* laying in the bunk at 2:30am, trying to decipher what Rathbaster was mumbling about in his sleep. I was thinking it was possibly a plan for the castle.
* finally getting the pleasure of meeting Maverick in person, and coming to the immediate realization that I would rather face down 50 attackers than have to arm wrestle him.
* Playing the Sunday stock games with Mav, LadyMarshal, Swampthing, and the Farmland Crew. That bellringer shot I took will be visible for a lonnnng time.
* watching the crowd go crazy when the 10rd tubes w/SCP stickers were being throw off the stage. Somewhat akin to a feeding frenzy.
*having some face to face time with Mav, Cargo, and Crash. It gave us a wonderful opportunity to be able to discuss the current state of SCP.com, and let us lay down some plans for even better things to come.
* standing in the doorway of the Castle with worrptangl, Hans, 10-shot, and 4 others; waiting to blitz down the hill to the tower and be the first obstacle the attackers had to overcome. Just before the whistle blew, I looked around and realized that if determination could have been converted to kilowatts, the defenders in that castle would have produced enough power to to keep 4 major cities running for the next 10 years.

I'm at work, and still not awake yet, so this is all I can garnish for now...

Yeah i was twitching pretty bad before they started the game. Then i asked to use someones foot to push off of. Sorry to whoever that was for shaking so much.

First off, BIG THANX to Maverick and the rest of the SCP guys for the Courtesy tent. That was an outstanding notion and one I hope you will do again.

There is not much I can say that hasn't already been said. The best part of the weekend for me was meeting the people on the other side of the screen. Even though I will not remember most of your real names, the faces I should remember. Heck, I even ran into a guy that I had played with at Action Sports a few years back AND remembered his nickname.

I had a blast playing those few games Sunday with you guys. That was some great relaxed play time, which was just what I needed after Saturday.

Amhildreth, sorry about the headshots man, but you give it and we'll take it.

As for the next big pump gathering at EMR, I heard a couple of rumors, both of which sounded fantastic. Looking forward to it.

I can only second (or third etc) what has been said.
It was a total blast and the best paintball event I have EVER attended.
Big thanks to Maverick for bringing the super supplies, tents, and basically making sure SCP was there. Kudos to EMR/Blue, what a insane place. Hugs to Missy/Lady Marshall, you're awesome. Rath, Swamp, Don, Andy, worrptangl: I really appreciate the time we spent together and hope that there's more to come in the future. You guys are nuts. We had 3/4 of that paintball musuem right there in our bunkhouse.
Bob/Crash- you are a paintball maniac. The effort you put into this event and everything else you've done blows me away and I stand in awe. Thanks for fixing my tank also.
I felt like a damn kid in candy store with the equipment, knowledge, and good times you guys were handing out.
Friday was surreal, Saturday was a locomotive nuclear explosion of insane proportions. Sunday was a loss for me, my fault really, Andy didn't want to bring that beer home so who was I not get a little poop-face on.
Worrptangl, it was hard keeping up with your energy, but I can't say enough about your spirit and commardership, you awesome.

I have to admit I was a little displeased at the lack of turnout, but that pales in light of the overall effect having so many good friends for the largest pump gathering EVER.

ps. BBoyz, your welcome for using our tent <_< (sorry Mav, couldn't help it.

amhildreth - September 30, 2003 09:33 PM (GMT)
actually Swampthing, if you guys hadn't taken those shots, I would have been dissappointed. It actually showed me how tight I was playing if the only target you had was the top of my noggin. I think another one that I'll be digesting for a long time was during the second game when I went with the attackers. As soon as we inserted, several players in the tower started posting on us. Roughly 15 of us wound up in 5 bunkers near the start - I really hate that. The attackers rained a few shots at the tower and took one out, but no one would move up. I said to the 2 guys next to me "this sucks - let's do something!", stood up, and began walking the path towards the tower with no cover, firing a shot into a window with every other footstep. I heard "dude - what the **** are you doing?" come from a back bunker. I kept walking and shooting, taking out a tower player until I got within 25ft or so of the structure. No one was shooting back, so I either kept the rest down, or they just thought I was nuts. The rest of the attackers finally bumped up, and I ran into the lower portion of the tower. Looking up through the floor, I saw 1 player left. Around the stairs, and with 1 more shot, the tower was clear. One of the younger semi shooters bumped me and said "if you don't mind, I'll hang with you". Man, I love this game!

thanks for the props , you all are awesome! Well try our best to make the courtesy tent a fixture at future events. My hope is that things like these will put the commoradie back into paintball. Those who break bread together, are more likely to respect each other later on the field..and you can never have enough friends!
So whether your at a national event like Castle, or your local big game..bust out the grille, pick up some dogs and make some new friends. things like these are what got me hooked on paintball in the firstplace, the game is only a part of the experience.. So i hope that more will continue doing the same type of things, But SCP will be there..and the grille will be hot, and the sodas cold! :D

THE-SHOOTIST - October 1, 2003 01:28 AM (GMT)
I'd like to thank everyone who I met and played with. It was GREAT putting faces to some of the names.
SCP has grown so quickly in the last year, and everyone's support and valued input has helped this place grow.
The courtesy tent was a great idea, and it really should be done frequently.
I'm pleased that everyone enjoyed the sausage, we do make a great product, and I'm happy to feed the masses. I started the "Sausage Tradition" with IPR events, and I'm more than happy to spread the tradition to SCP, my other home.
I had a great time at Conquest, but next time I'm bunking at the SCP bunkhouse, not that the Marshal's house is bad or anything, but the real late nights over there were wearing out this old man.
I hadn't been to EMR since it's closure in '89, and it brought back some memories, some sweet, and a few bitter ones. I have more to post about this, it includes some of my warped insight of where we came from, and where we're going as a sport or recreation in general. Look for it in Off Topic.
Great meeting you all, and looking forward to more great times with you all.
