Very nice pics! I almost look like I know how to play in a few of those :P

I concur. Very nice pics. Thank you.

I spot a red WGP pump kit. Nice pictures.

Very cool man.

You kick serious arse!!!! -_- -_-

I was supposed to be Underdog's teammate, but due to some unfortunate turn of events, I could not be there, and those are some incredible shots!! Thanks so much! You really got in there and took one for the team. :D I thoroughly enjoyed them.

Out of curiousity, what kind of camera were you using?

stainless steel - August 16, 2005 06:04 PM (GMT)
Thanks for the comments. I was using my trusty Canon A95 with a 1GB Ultra card.

Incase you were wondering, underdog is in the first two pictures.

that one pic of me running past the other empire clad kid (looks like HE should be on my team) :) is when i ran past him, bunkered him and then tried to come in on his teamate who quickly shot me in my leg. those cats ended up winning 2nd place. pic: "bunker2" is my take off, you can see the kid in red already lining up on me, "bunker3" is right after i hit him in the stomach and right before i get hit in the leg, got to learn to follow thru.

the odd thing about a two man tourney is one mistake or missed opportunity could mean the game. odds quickly turn harsh in a one on two environment (not that i'd know, i was the first hit on our team each game i think). i feel at least two games could have been in our favor had i not missed some easy lay-up type shots. oh well. live and learn.

also on a field that is made of thin palettes(sp?), it is a two dimensional feild. in that once i ran past and bunkered the first cat, as i was to the side of of his opponent my cover then consisted of only the 4 inch thickness of the width of the palettes. so i just kept running to the back of the field so brimstone and i could be set-up with two points of angulation at 180 degrees, providing good cover for both of us and putting the pressure on the opponent. unfortunately he shot me in the leg before i could reach my cover.

i have to give it up to brimstone though, you got a hell of a shot in general. i also feel if that kp had treated you right it would've been a bit different as well. you did the right thing by selling it back. i think you put about 8 or 9 bouncers on opponents throughout the day. but to take a gun that you had just bought and not really know it well, you did great bro!

being my first tourney i accomplished everything i set out to: i learned a lot. i learned that practicing against semi's to prepare does nothing when playin against seasoned pumpers (you guys rock). i learned you give an inch, they'll take it that inch and make you regret it the whole time you're spitting out blue paint and blowing out blue boogers  (thanks sniper1rfa). i learned i'm a bit to predictable when popping out of bunkers. i learned i didn't really know the proper concepts of walking a field. and i learned that i was so hyped up and nervous that i forgot basics like communication, checking amount of paint before bunkering someone, and having a secondary bunker lined up after you make your bunker run.

oh well good times and great pics stainless. it was pleasure to meet you there and i hope work wasn't hell when you got back.

I really liked the one of Pyrate and me shaking hands with Last Rites after they beat us. "No excuses - just congradulations". They played some damn fine ball.

Excellent Pics, great composition B)

I still haven't plugged in my digi cam to see what I took. (If I can find the bandwidth, I'll post 'em)

Nice job!

swampthing - August 17, 2005 02:46 PM (GMT)
amhildreth, I think that is my favorite pic. Not cuz I am in it or the win, but what I can see that it represents for the weekend. The level of sportsmanship that we as players try to exhibit. That picture still would have been taken if "the paint were on the other mask" , so to speak. If only the "pros" could get that part of the game through their heads, then paintball in general would be a better place.

As a side note, I figured out why I shot both of you in that game. It was for personal reasons. Next time, maybe you'll save me some of the Black Strap Rum.

Great pics, but I didn't see any of the thumb wrestling...

the underdog - August 18, 2005 12:22 AM (GMT)
the thumb wresting and cross-over sprints were hilarious!

when pump geeks and scenario geeks made the cross-field sprints before they could start the game all us other teams were like "huh? do WE have to do that too?" one member from luch-box was like "look at my body, does this body look like it can run?" i personally thought the cross-field sprinting idea was pretty cool.

for those who didn't see it, when those two teams faced off, the first time they set a rule that they had to run to the opposing teams start gate before they could start firing. this added a mad-dash race to start the game off, interesting.

when they met in the semi or finals, they instituted a mandatory thumb wrestle-off before they could start the game. they ran to the fifty and began thumb-wrestling. i personally don't know if that just started the action, or if who-ever lost had some sort of disadvantage, but it was hilarious none-the-less. only at a pump event B)

jujitsuman73 - August 18, 2005 01:47 AM (GMT)
Stainless, Yea, I saw him in three of the pics, I believe... <_<

I shoot a Canon Rebel XT when I am not shooting my phantom... they are def great camera's!

stainless steel - August 18, 2005 02:12 AM (GMT)
Thats a sweet camera. I wish I had that power for burst mode!

Yeah, and we did it without telling the refs, they were like "WHAT IS GOING ON!!"

The rules were that we would go to the 50 and thumb wrestle one of the opponents and the person that lost would be shot. To our dismay, the thumb wrestling match turned into almost an arm wrestle with a funky hand grip. After none of us would admit defeat, those... those... pump geeks shot us.

Oh, and for the record I'm the kid with the really long blonde hair, blue profiler and black/purple C/F Phantom.

the underdog - August 18, 2005 02:43 AM (GMT)
i'm the guy who you shot in the grill i think. :) yellow jersey set and black phantom, not yellow jersey set and blue sniper.

did you have the qloader? or was that your teamate? either way, i think ya'll both tagged my a$$ at about the same time :)

good game though and super quick. i just remember popping out of my bunker and tasting the ever so sweet taste of paint. ya'll definitely deserved your spot on the podium. good job.

Safety net. If you only get one good shot, you want to make damn sure it'll be there when you pull the trigger.

That was my teammate.

Stainless, I love it, I got it about 6 months or so ago, upgraded from a sony cybershot 2.1 MP, so that is a HUGE jump in equipment. Also went from using some run of the mill photo editing program to photoshop 7.0 and hopefully will upgrade to CS2 soon. The burst mode is so much fun, we set it on about 1/4000 and shot a piece of plywood and you can see the pieces of shell exploding and the paint flying. it is incredible. It shoots 14 to 18 or 19 frames a sec, I think...I have the 1 gig ultra card....I love photography :D

Cargo's High Speed Photo Project

jujitsuman73 - August 19, 2005 04:03 PM (GMT)
Cargo,

Very cool, What shutter speed and type of camera? BTW- I think this thread has officially been JACKED :ph43r:

I have some point of impact shots, but I got banned from Jayloo for posting pics of Matty's wedding :vangry: and I never could get image shack to work right, but I will try again. I am going to try again using a mask this time and a telephoto lens, the last time I got too much splatter on my lens :( but I did get some cool shots of the paintball exploding. So maybe this weekend some of us will get together and do a shoot with a mask and get some of a paintball exploding on a lens or if we get a brave volunteer, a back

that egg makes it looks like another speedball player, then you see the pump handle. its funny to me, but whatever works

stainless steel - August 24, 2005 03:08 AM (GMT)
I mostly took pictures of them because I knew something cool was going to happen. They had a few nice bunker moves which you can see in some shots.

Exactly, Even though I have beaten my revy a few times. Its great to know that the next shot will be ready. It would be nice though if everyone went back to using gravity hoppers or 9V revys.

Chem-X
I am running a pre BE 12 V revy on my sniper.
