Title: NEW PISTOL
Description: PAINT + CO2 IN CLIP!!!!!

TAG: Tactical AirGuns

They're the ones behind that patent which has been floating since like 2002. The one where the clip that is in the grip frame holds both paint and CO2. They were at the IAO. I LOVE THESE!
Engler is becoming a dealer, I'm buying at least 2 from him.
It holds 8 paintballs, odd but oh well. Gotta do with limited space. When you take out the clip, you push the side button and it pops right out. Instantly seals the CO2! So you don't waste all the rest in the cartridge. You can get about 25-30 shots per 12gram.
Very similar to the Sidekick, Desert Fox,
Automag.... all those blow forwards. There's no on/off assembly so that is making it much simpler (and a little shorter). No real need honestly, the bolt cycles fast enough. On the right side is a regulator adjustment. The barrel is about 6" (didn't measure it, just guess) and a twist-lock style.
Balance is great, all the weight is right on top of the hand really. Barrel and front add almost no weight so no forward imbalance like the Zeus style. Where all the weight is up front kind of feel. It's not behind or in front, just straight down on the hand it's perfect.
I'm really liking this pistol, especially with an MSRP I think of around $295. So I'd expect them to sell around that at first, down to $250 soon.

So you shoot your 8 shots, drop the magazine, and, if you carry extras, slap in a new one with a new cartridge in it. So you don't use up the rest of the 12 gram unless you drop the mag and reload it out of a 10 round tube?
z-zero - August 1, 2005 01:35 PM (GMT)
Finally!
I'm glad to see this thing come out. Who exactly is "Tactical" anyway, are they some sort of startup company or are they someone who has been around for a while....

Looks like a very promising design. I definatley would like to hear more and maybe a demonstration video or something.
Clearush - August 1, 2005 05:12 PM (GMT)
How much for additional clips?? Will they offer say a mag extention so that you can increase the capacity say to 10 or 12 balls?? Damn, now I need to sell stuff :( this is actualy in a price range that doesn't make me choke.
Cargo - August 1, 2005 08:54 PM (GMT)
That is pretty hot looking. And trick no less.
Like any good pistol, it should come with 2 mags. And extra's should kill the budget either.
I can see how you could reload your 8rds between/during games and not have to wry about the 12g until you've reloaded said round 3-4 times.
That might be hard to keep track of.

I am soooo getting one of those.
I can also see these guys getting a contract with Pepperball. This is perfect for that, way better design than those crap arse Zeus pistols, and alot lighter than the Procarb/ A5.

How many of us is it going to take to get Wevo to become a dealer? I soo want one!
z-zero - August 2, 2005 12:45 PM (GMT)
If WEVO was going to carry it I'd wait until he gets them to order one. Just a thought Wevo..... :)

Well, the Sydarm's only got 8-shot capacity, too.
I think what will make or break the pistol is two things. First, the price needs to be under $250 to get into the customer's hands. Second, it needs to be hella reliable. Someone might only fire 2 or 3 shots from a pistol all day but when they fire those shots, they need the pistol to work perfectly. Likewise, some people will, at least occasionally, play using just the pistol(s). The design needs to function flawlessly and continuously. I wouldn't so much care about weight, bulkiness or ROF so long as it was reliable.
Also, does anyone else smell BS on that 25-30 shots/12-gram? A 'mag, which has an on/off and very close tolerances, can barely get 20 good shots from a 12-gram. The blow-forward design just isn't that efficient running off CO2. 25-30 shots is as good as a stock old school Sheridan. I just can't imagine that. Lastly, I want to see some numbers over the chrono. Too many pistols I've seen suffer from just awful velocity.
I don't want to sound like I'm writing off the product (I've never even seen it, so...), but I'm a little wary is all. Of course, hype asside and if it performs as advertized... I'd get one.
jujitsuman73 - August 2, 2005 01:49 PM (GMT)
That has to be the nicest looking pistol setup I have ever seen. Better start saving...hmmmm.... <_<
Murf425 - August 2, 2005 02:04 PM (GMT)
The Sidekick Semi series got about 25, and they were the same design.
matt502 - August 2, 2005 06:05 PM (GMT)
I held and shot one of these at the IAO too. Not bad for the design, if you have small hands holding it for long period of time will be a problem since the grip is really big. It is very cool that you can release the clip and the 12 gram stays charged and reloading the clip off a 10rd tube wouldn't be that hard. The problem I saw was with the 12gram, when I was shooting it the 12 gram died and has to be changed with an allen wrench. Something that would be hard to do on the field during a game. I mentioned this and the guy said they were dealing with space on the clip and then stated that's why you would have addition clips. The prices I heard were 300 for the pistol and 40-50 for each clip. This might have been dealer prices and not retail costs. I also told the guy to consider a longer clip with a thumb screw or lever to change the 12gram or maybe even a CA adapter for a remote line. Depending on the cost it might be fun to get one but I will probabely stick with my PGP.
The sales guy made it sound that they should be out in the next couple months and the ones they had there were first productions. It should be interesting to see if this idea takes off in the rest of the industry.
Just my two cents,
Matt

UGH!!!
chewbacca - August 2, 2005 06:49 PM (GMT)
An allen wrench? Wow...
What were they thinking?
Meph - August 2, 2005 07:00 PM (GMT)
I had the same convo, asking why that way. They said they just wanted to get some product out for the IAO. So instead of worrying about a thumb screw or lever at the time, they put that in there for show.
Full production model they say will be different. The guy stated he was leaning more toward a lever change, personally I suggested a thumb screw. Either way will be fine no doubt, better than the allen key.
Efficiency wise, 30 shots is what it actually got. FPS I couldn't tell, they didn't have a chrono there. I would guess it around 260fps when displayed. More could be achieved, it has a regulator. Just jack to the max pressure.
TrojanMan - August 2, 2005 08:50 PM (GMT)
Well, it's starting to sound a lot better to me. I guess all I have to say is that I hope they don't jump the release because of hype and push out an unfinished product like we unfortunately see sometimes.
I'd like to see the sealing mechanism for the 12-grams. Both in how it goes into the clip and how the clip seals against the marker. I wonder if they did it how I think they did it...
One last thing - that model must have HUGE hands to make the marker look that small. Even if the magazind didn't have any wasted room, it holds 8 paintballs! 8 x 0.68 = 5.44"
The average human palm is about 3" across. That's a grip almost twice as big as it needs to be. Sure the mag extends a little farther up into the breech, but it still makes for a very large grip. I guess we'll have to wait and see...
RepomanGene - August 2, 2005 09:46 PM (GMT)
The other suggestion I made at the IAO would be to incorperate a correct size allen head into the gun itself, making the gun able to loosen the 12gram screw without carrying a actual tool in the field and run the risk of accusations of velocity tampering.
expect a thumbscrew of some sort.
you could do your own buy switching out the set screw with a longer screw and adding a wheel.

I ALWAYS listen to the members and stock accordingly if you guys haven't noticed
If the quality is there and it functions as advertised it will be carried ;)
Interceptor - August 2, 2005 10:54 PM (GMT)
Then you'll be my dealer bud!
Murf425 - August 3, 2005 12:13 AM (GMT)
Wevo, you just want any excuse you can find to play around with one.

Actually, you are right  I often get stuff on the market to try out and decide to carry them if it is good stuff.
Good excuse huh?
It used to be real fun when I had an FFL

I too was at the IAO, shot this thing and it's FUN. I think Destructive Customs is becoming a dealer as well, I just may pick one up. Very solid feel and construction.
Billy6977 - August 11, 2005 02:06 AM (GMT)

Meph - August 11, 2005 02:47 PM (GMT)
To sneak it past the wife?
Just say it went to pay for the hooker.
She'll never suspect you bought this!
It's a bulletproof plan :D

Yeah, but Billy's not a bulletproof man.

Hello,
I'm a newbie to this forum.
So where does one find the non-1-800 number for Tactical? The 1-800 number isn't working from my home in Victoria, Canada. I really need to buy 1 or 2 of these immediately! Is there any other info posted anywhere on the net? It took me quite a while to find this forum after initially seeing the stark page
http://www.tacticalairguns.com/Any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks all!
Interceptor - August 15, 2005 02:43 AM (GMT)
A friend of mine saw these at the show and was talking to the makers. There are only a couple that have been built so far, and they are testing them. Don't think they are for sale yet.
Pump it up - August 16, 2005 06:36 PM (GMT)
Wouldn't you have to let all the CO2 go out when you change the clips though?
Clearush - August 16, 2005 06:38 PM (GMT)
No there is a check valve mechanism in the clip that only opens up when the magazine is inserted into the pistol. It is sealed off when removed so minimal CO2 is lost when changing magazines.
Interceptor - August 17, 2005 04:21 AM (GMT)
MAGAZINE!!! MAGAZINE!!!! NOT CLIP!!!! DROP AND GIVE ME 20!!!!! :vangry:
Clearush - August 17, 2005 03:21 PM (GMT)
 difference being?? But seriously I would like to know other than possibly being just a slang term for magazine what is the difference.
