Title: Food at PP 2
Description: an offer from Tasty Time
Pyrate Jim - June 8, 2005 01:41 AM (GMT)
Many folks know Rich of Damage Inc who also runs the Tasty Time catering at EMR.
At Burma Road, I asked Rich about catering a pig-roast for Pandemonium. His is the voice of experience and he shortly convinced me that there were better options.
So here's what he offered.
For $25 a head (pre-paid) He'll do us a good feed for the weekend. And he's not talking the usual amenities.
He'll have a hot meal for Friday night, and those that have a group of (I think he said 8) or more in a single bunkhouse will have their breakfast delivered. He'll bring a crock-pot of sausage gravy and biscuits up to feed the group before the game, even before most get up.
Saturday evening he can do a pork roast, but it will be just meat. Pork loins, no bones to fight over and either done with their own sauce or plain, probably both available.
When I told this to LadyMarshal, her first question was "How many meals?"
I can't say, we didn't discuss Sunday. But in previous games, I've bought a wrist-band for food and that included both days. And I never went hungry. I have his phone # and will check back with him once I've seen the response on the boards for a week. Plus I can find out how we'll handle the pre-pay, whether it gets sent direct to him at EMR or what.
Just to give a comparison, what Rich is asking for the weekend is less than I spent on two pizzas down the road from EMR. (and not very good pizza)
I know that this is a chance for the chefs among us to show off, and the SCP Courtesy tent was very popular when it came to food but these guys need to rely on us to make it worth while to do these special things, and Pandemonium is one of those special things.
So let's hear it! Who's willing to put up that little bit that means we can get what most folks at EMR only dream of?

the courtesy tent is for "snacks" , this guy does FOOD!! Im all for it!!

Hmm... pork roast, you say?
It WOULD be very nice not to have to bring a lot of food with us and $25 for the weekend is darn near cheap-as-free. Shoot, if the pork is good and depending upon what he cooks with it, $25 is worth it for that meal alone. I'll be glad to get in on the deal and I'll talk to my guys about doing the same. $25/person is cheaper than all the food we'd buy otherwise plus we don't have to cook it! Solid deal, I think!
Thanks, Pyrate for helping organize this!

Hmmm..... that sounds good! I was going to bring some Cornish hens to roast (was thinking about it) then StrokerAce and I decided to take the Zwigels route again... Maybe we'll do all three!
I do remember that the food up there was great at all the other events though. This is good news for both sides!
Regards,
Six

I'm there.
Rich always has my support (and money). The guy cooks great food.
From my past experience.....
Saturday
Breakfast: Sausage Gravy & Biscuits, Muffin, Orange Juice
Lunch: Hot Dogs or Hamburgers w/ Chips and Drink
Dinner: Chicken, Pork Roast, or some kinda fancy stuff. He goes all out.
Sunday
Breakfast: Return of the amazing S.G.&B.! That or a bacon/ham sandwich.
I forget though if I got lunch ever on Sunday. Usually sundays meant I got breakfast, a few drinks and that's about it. never really did the lunch thing always too busy on field. Especially w/ final battle preparations.
But it's worth the money, easily. Especially for the quality cooking. I don't have raw or overcooked food, and it's healthier than deep-fried Arby's down the road.
I'm puttin my money again into some Tasty Tyme catering.
Except sunday night, usually that's always Flying J.

While I will say that Rich's food is always a hit, I will offer this (and mock me all you want, I understand) if anyone else is Jewish or a Vegetarian, I will be bringing my own food and will gladly add extra if anyone needs it.
Hey, there were Jewish pirates, sure there were, lots of 'em. And bunches of them ate tofu. I think I read somewhere that Blackbeard just loved it.

The pirate alternative.

Flying J = Good stuff! Every major road trip i take , i always stop at one to eat, just follow the truckers, they know where the good food is :D

Chicken Sausage for sweet things that contain chocolate made by my favorite Lady Pirate ?
Or, have you gone totally Vege?
zerlina - June 10, 2005 10:07 PM (GMT)
Chocolate huh? I think that can be arranged. Do you want it at "oh god oh god oh god" intensity or should I aim straight for diabetic coma?
I take it this means I'll see you in August?

"Shooters" were nice. I found all my cavities.
I might, providing I :
1) Install a Driveway
2)Replace the front steps
3)Replace the bathroom ceiling
Would YOU make me do all this stuff if you were married to me, or would we just pack up the GTI and go play? ;)
PaintBallMarshalTN - June 12, 2005 03:39 AM (GMT)
Yeah Pyrate,I feel for ya brother me neither...It only happens to me in books or the movies <_<
golden220 - June 29, 2005 07:46 PM (GMT)
Whats going with paying for this Meph? You never posted the details.
mattstuf888 - June 29, 2005 08:05 PM (GMT)
How do I get in on this? Pay when I get there, or something with Pre Registration?
Meh, that's another 2 and a half lawns mowed for food.... :( I'll make it though.
EDIT-oops, I think I just asked the same question as Golden.
Pyrate Jim - June 29, 2005 09:54 PM (GMT)
I'll call Rich during the day tomorrow and find out, he won't do komputer.
It's going to have to be a pre-pay thing, and if you want a delivered breakfast you need to be grouped together in a bunkhouse. He's not going to bring up a crock-pot of sausage gravy to two guys.
Now we just need to know how to collect the money and get it to Rich.
CrashSTP - June 30, 2005 02:51 AM (GMT)
I talked with Rich this past weekend on this. RSVP to ME ( PM will do ) number of meal passes for the weekend and then you can pay him directly at the event saturday morning
he covers Saturday breakfast, lunch and dinner including drinks with them and also sunday breakfast. you'll recieve a wristband from rich that gets you the food
Great Deal in my opinion I have been doing it since I started coming to EMR 3 years ago
RSVP is for Rich to know how many to plan for
