Actually, the brotherhood was quite strong. Backstabbers and weasles didn't live long aboard ship, at best the rest of the crew would vote him off and just drop him over the side. (on land if any happened to be nearby, otherwise...) Since you were going to be out there for half a year, it was in everybody's best interest to work together.
Pirates were a true democracy. The Captain was voted in, and could be voted out. The articles were laid out in front of you before you joined with nothing hidden and each man was expected to hold true to the cause.

Bub there are stock class players on both sides. As well this isn't an "SCP v. Marsh" game to make it that way.
So just pick a side that you want to be on. Your brutha's are on either side.
