Title: Semi's Will Rule the Day
Description: How long do you think you can hold
Big E - September 10, 2003 05:44 PM (GMT)
:( Well, I could just leave my buddy Chris hanging out here all by him self. Do you guys truly feel that you can hold off 800 semi players in over 58 minutes. You guys are in for a world of welts, do you really think you can hold the castle for any real lenght of time. Please why don't you just give up now and for go the humiliation.
lets look at the facts shall we.
4 to 1 odds agenst the defenders
for every shot a pump can get a second (1) compared to 4 shots minimum from a semi that means that for every 1 shot a pump defender shoots he or she has 16 balls coming back at them. :) I love math.
I will say hi to all of you from your dead box!
Remember this is just smack to help grow the # of players. I will have 10rd tubes, and PGP speed loaders in the Bust N Balls Product support Tent. If you need anything just let me know and i will Bring it if i can get my hands on it. and lets all just enjoy a great day of paintball. Ethan

You forgot to take into account "aiming".
Its a secret ritual practiced by pumpplayers.
So say 4:1 balls per second difference. 1 bps from a pump player = 1 elimination because they aimed. Spraying semi players get maybe 1 per 500 balls due to mathematic probability. Lets up the semi bps to 6 bps to make things fair, and even out the rental and electro factors.
so 1 second = 800 attackers x 6 bps = 4800 paintballs = 10 kills (rounded off)
1 second 200 defenders = 200 kills
with the help of a spreadsheet we receive the following figures:
Seconds.......Attackers......Defenders
Start=0............800.............200
......1...............600.............190
......2...............410.............183
......3...............227.............178
.......4................49.............175
......5...................0.............174
So after 5 seconds, the 174 un-eliminated pump players enjoy 19 minutes and 55 seconds of relaxation and swaping old stories within the walls.
Math can be fun. :)

LOL you guys are funny! thats great. In reality for the most part Pump players do have better aim. I know I have been playing for 13 yrs. But in the mad skeem of things. you won't be able to get your gun out the door or window muh less your head to get a (aim) a snap shot. I give you guys kutos but in the end you will all go down. then we can have a brew together and talk about the day of fun. It would be cool to see you guys actually put up a fight. but thats just a pipe dream.
Blitzkrieg - September 10, 2003 10:28 PM (GMT)
You seem to forget that pump players are accustomed to the sounds of semi players' balls hitting a bunker and thus none of us will be ducking behind cover. Ive got 3 balls with their name on you Ethan.

No wonder you're using a semi. I can pull 2 or 3 a second with a stock class feed.

Last I heard, there weren't enough semi players registered for us to have 1:4 with only 150 in the castle.

No,no,no. You're in the wrong place.
Our ranks have been growing for months.
It's the attacking side that need help growing the # of players.
Look, We've been discussing this for almost a year. Our General was selected before March. He's been in contact with his leutenants and set up groups from SPC, PPIG, PHOG, SPIG, IPR, PGPOG, KPOG, Tinkers guild, CAN-CON, and even a couple I can't name. We know what we're doing and every man(and woman!) is ready to do their part.
On the other hand....
The attackers have finally chosen a CO, (or was it that Colin from Pub Crawling just had the misfortune to pull the short straw?) they're still desperate for players(800 semi's? That's really a pipe dream), and the largest part of the attacking troops will be the walk-ons with their rentals or the pump players who couldn't make the cut-off.
Actually, the pump players who end up on the attacking side are the ones I'm really worried about.

that thought has occured to me as well, THAT could be an issue.. for a second i considered those who "used too" play pump, but its probably been so long since they went to the dark side that little of that pump goodness remains.. so ive concluded former pump players arent much of a threat..
I had a vision today, if i could draw, id make a cartoon of it.. but a written representation will have to suffice:
Picture if you will a table, in a tent, on top the banner reads "gun Tech" , two airsmiths sitting behind the table.
On one side, a long line of paintballers, all with semi auto race guns.. the airsmith working furiously..the line streching out of the tent and beyond...
On the other side, one player on line, holding a nice pump, the air smith looking a bit bored, feet up , sleepy looking....
the caption next to the pump player says " do you think you could get that scuff off my barel?" :D

It occurs to me that the defenders have the "little guy" advantage.
We're outnumbered with older, proven technology.
If we loose, its what everyone outside the pump community seems to expect.
If we win however..... B)
I will however enjoy the party aftewards regardless of the outcome. :P :)

big e . i might point out that the defender slots were filled ( and with people flying stand by) MONTHS ago so save your smack talk for someone who may be affected by it. this board is made up of people who play stockclass or pump. we dont cower behind bunkers when someone lobs a few shots in our direction. we play a game that takes nerves of steel ( and balls to match ) and a low rate of fire ( very subjectional, i can fire faster with a pump than i can with a semi)
we are used to having large amounts of paint headed at us and just ignore it. its not going to hit us before we eliminate them, so why worry.
oh by the way learn to spell
secondly as for your statemanet " ill say, hi to you from the dead box." ill agree with you. you'll say hi to us from the dead box
one more thing you should try out pbnation.com it might just be your speed
ROF is not everything
hitting what you shoot at IS everything
amhildreth - September 11, 2003 09:49 AM (GMT)
easy on the PBNation! :D
That site helps me keep my moderator chops in good shape. Sometimes, a little TOO good a shape.....between rec talk, NorthEast, and Action Markers I keep plenty busy smacking down the infidels.

egads man, dont bust on bad spelling... that becomes personal.. and this is supposed to be fun... but feel free to whack away on andy for his pbnation affiliations :D (just kidding)
but seriously guys, big E is just doing his job here trying to get a bit of counter intimidation going, its not personel so please dont turn it into that.. from what i hear, hes a decent guy, even if a bit misguided . :D
can some one draw my cartoon for me already?? Ill send a SCP patch to the person who most accurately represents my description offer ends sunday night.....
Quickling - September 11, 2003 12:26 PM (GMT)
ummm.... I just got suddnely affraid. You mentined a cutoff.... does that mean that people who were registered (lets say numbers 151-200) mightnot get to play? Dispite pre-reg?
I am worried because when I registered I was one of the last 7 slots of defenders.. does that mean I got cut? Please put my fears to rest, I would so cry if I couldn't go.
amhildreth - September 11, 2003 12:31 PM (GMT)
the ironic part of it all is that I discovered SCP through a post link on the Nation a few years ago. See! There are SOME redeeming things about that site :P
As for the post at hand; the semi's may stand a minimal chance at success...as long as Blue doesn't run out of stock of 9v batteries...or most of the defenders don't show up because of the flu.

Everyone plays, its just a matter of which side they end up on. :P
The currrent cutoff is 150 until there are over 600 attackers. Those with numbers 151-200 are on the "waiting list" to be placed as defenders when the attackers show up.
If you got one of the last 7, rest assured, you will join us on the walls. (The last 7 were numbers 143-150 as far as I know, they would have told you if you were on the waiting list.)
Monkeyman- careful 'bout that spelling thing or Comovartia will unleash his own semi fury on you :P he spells like I shoot  'sides, this is SCP where spelling does not count (nor conformity :) )
Big E - September 11, 2003 01:42 PM (GMT)
I believe yes is the unfortunate answer you are looking for. The game is 4 to 1 so if the semi's don,t have the #'s then the 200 pumps will deminish to 150 no doubt.
Big E - September 11, 2003 01:46 PM (GMT)
Guys what other non SC and pump forums have you visited in order to drum up more targets. ya right. In addition I will be posting this on the other boards just to let you know.
Top ten famous last words from the pump defenders before their demise.
by "Big E"
1) "There's Hamsters in the walls there's Hamsters in the ahh............."
2) Run Away ...Run Away...
3) I can't believe they got in so fast.
4) 1 little 2 little 3 little paintballs.....4 little 5 little 6 little paintballs......7 little 8 little 9 little paintballs.....oh S***t I'm out of paintball.
5) Can you pass me a 12 gram.
6) Is there anybody out there, hello guys, where is everybody?
7) Damn it Jim,.... Im a paintball player, not a miracle worker
8) Look watch me jump around like a monkey, I can dodge any paintball, WAP ahhh my balls
9) Don't worry guys I still have my PGP
10) Was that the whistle?
comovartia - September 11, 2003 04:18 PM (GMT)
I know there are posts on IPR in the flame wars section and on the automag forum.
Last action of a semi player in a game last month. While he was peppering the fort wall with paint ( I think the owner wanted to change the color of the walls anyways  ) I took aim and shot his leg sticking out from the side of his bunker. He must not have been used to playing against pump guns because he looked up into the tree above him looking for the squirel that droped the agcorn on him ( after all his position had not been pelted with paint so it could not have been a paintball. Right?) Looked down and saw the paint. Put the barrel plug on and left the field. About 50-75 paintballs shoot just to get eleminated by 1 lonley paintball. :pow:
So bring it on. We will prove that aiming does count more then fire power.
Famous last words on the field from semi players
1. "Where's the hopper? How can I eliminate him with out a hopper"
2. "I'm out. I just shot a case of paint and have no more."
3. "Dude I can't belive we just got bunkered by one lone pump player"
4. " How did you get behind our position?"
5. " I had to take this semester off from collage. I was a little short on cash. But check out my new Angle Speed. I can shoot a case of paint a minute."
6. " Does anyone have an extra battery? Anyone? Hello. An extra battery? Anyone?"
7. "I have to sit this game out. I strained my finger dry fireing my gun in the staging area."
8. " I'm going to sell my new 2003 cocker because the new 2004 cocker comes out next week."
9. " How the @#*#@ did you get 6-8 bps out of that pump."
10. " Wow I can't belive those old guys with antique guns held on to the Castle for the whole game. I should look into trying a pump. it might improve my game." :D :D

Famous last words for the attackers:
1) I didn't think they could get me with a pump gun.
2) Boy those guns are accurate.
3) They couldn't hit an elephant at this dist...
4) Well, how well can they really shoot?
5) Follow me, they only have pump guns!
Sorry, can't come up with 10. I owe you a beer for the other 5. :)

Won't all you pumpers be suprised when you realize semis actually DO know how to aim.
LedZep582 - September 11, 2003 09:04 PM (GMT)
Of course they can aim, they just have to be 5 feet away behind a big inflatable bunker. Wee bit harder in the woods......or shooting at ramparts

After a year of reading about CCXVI, it's good to see that the other side has finally gotten around to talking about it.
Like I said before, there ain't no 800 semi's, there isn't even the 600 we need to play against to make it fair!.
The Semi's will be typical semi players.
The Pumps will be typical pump players.
==========================
PubCrawling has an advantage that they know the field. <_<
:D But so do we.
PubCrawling has lots of firepower.
 We have fire-control.
PubCrawling has whatever newbies show up.
:ph43r: We collectively have centuries of experience.
==========================
There may indeed end up being hamsters in the walls, but there are snakes in the walls as well, and we eat hamsters before we break for lunch.
monkeyman - September 12, 2003 02:34 AM (GMT)
im a little confused about the whole hamster thing.
and jumping around like a monkey is fun ( and i wear a cup so no worry about groin shots, just means i get to sit down after all the jumping, im old so its a win win situation).
Hans - September 12, 2003 02:56 AM (GMT)
I have no idea what the hampster deal is either....but I DO know the true "Jumping like a monkey, shot in the balls" story. Unforunately it's not my story to tell and you will have to ask our general about it while waiting for the attack to get organized.
Oh, and here are some other important facts.
1 - Our General was actually chosen BEFORE the Castle Conquest last fall....that means more than a year of planning.
2 - We are in a no-loose situation.....seriously, there is NO way for pump paintball to loose ground! If the castle falls quickly, we stay where we are as a niche market that is well organized and determined to be heard. In fact, just being able to stage the event is a major boost to the cause.
However, if we WIN... it may just change recreational paintball. Think about it my brothers in arms. We are fighting not just to hold a Castle, but to change the very sport we love. What we do inside those walls may just resonate further than any of us could possibly imagine. They will not stand before us because they think us weak and unworthy of their strength. But they will learn, they will see, and they will understand.

Hmmm.
I see inspirational speeches (as in Henry V before Agincourt) ready for the writing. B)
"Oh you my fair brothers and sisters in arms
let any who say we are to few to triumph stand forth
such company I will not abide
but will pay his fare home this very moment.
We who stand upon these ramparts are blessed by fate
to stand out numbered.
Better company I could never find in all the fields of the world
but those who stand 'side me this day.
For we few,
we chosen few shall bear the banner of pump in victory or defeat,
we shall stand fast with honor, integrity and courage our foe to meet."
 I'll work on it some more. ;)
swampthing - September 12, 2003 07:50 PM (GMT)
Motivational Speeches , huh? Well, how about a quote {prayer?} from 13th Warrior:
Lo there do I see my Father,
Lo there do I see my Mother and my sisters and my brothers.
Lo there do I see the line of my people
Back to the begining.
Lo, they do call to me.
They bid me take my place among them,
In the Halls Of Valhalla,
Where the Brave may live Forever.
That one is particularly fun when walking as a group onto the field for a big game. The other players look at you like you're nuts when you have seven guys reciting it.
Big E - September 12, 2003 09:09 PM (GMT)
Well, while at the Coram Big game this year. I had the oppertunity to see one of your Pump capt. (which will remain name less) in a one on one speedball competision with Rocky on the Redz factory team. The pump player lost both rounds in less than 1 minute, the only differance is that the second game ended with our good buddy on the groud holding his man hood. Now I think this guy is a good guy but that had to be one of the funniest matches I had ever seen.
now as for the Hamsters. have you ever been to the local pet shot and see a huge hudled mass of fur in the corner of a cage. Then curiosity takes over and you tap on the cage and the one fury ball in the corner turns into 15 hamsters that scury about the cage. Well, the same thing happens when you shoot at a bunker of Newbies that are all hudled behind one bunker. they all scatter like hamsters. hence the term. The term originated from EMR and more importantly the Pub Crawlers gave this nickname to the Head Hunters. They even have a Alpha hamster. But now he was recurted to DOTW as a Demon (member in training)
Maverick - September 12, 2003 10:09 PM (GMT)
Heh, this aint speed ball.... but even if it were, we do have more than one pumper willing to go head to head with semis, and do every week... about 200 or so .. many of which have taken out two or more semi players in speedball, in less than a minute..So that can work both ways my friend.. My record is four, and i suck.. so i can only imagine what some of the really good pump players might be to manage in a target rich environment..
I wonder how many of the semi players will have ever gone up against a decent pump player? not many id guess..its gonna be a rude awakening for them :D
as for getting tagged below the belt, i sure hope that was accidental, if it wasnt it doesnt say much for the semi player, or his character... there is no glory without honor.... and id imagine hed be in the same lurch, if hed gotten hit there.. that one really doesnt tell us anything, better luck next time :P
If you can get enough players together to put up a decent game, bring it on.. well be in the Castle singing pirate songs... (or at least Pyrate will be :) )
Big E - September 12, 2003 10:53 PM (GMT)
Mav. I was merely telling a story of a match at Coram. Not stating that that match represented a correlation to what is going to happen at the castle. The only funny part about the match was that the pump player was earlier in the day stating how great he was and that he could beat anyone. To see the match end the way it did only seemed poetic to say the least. To tell you the truth though in any given day pump or semi could win a game like that it’s 50/50. I you recall form past posts of mine I to started playing back in the day when Trracers and PMI-1 and 2's were heavy fire power. I know of the tricks that can be played on opposing players with a pump. Fact: pumps ARE more accurate than a semi. Fact: you ALL most likely have skill with your pumps. Fact: I gained a great deal of skill on the playing field because I grow up using a pump. Fact: most of the players in Tourneys don't have these skills, its spray and pray. Fact: Castle is not about skill. Fact: Castles is about the numbers and how many of them flood through the walls and overwhelm your forces. No matter how hobble they may be. Fact: the castle will fall in record time weather or not you and your colleges want it to. Fact: It would be very cool to have this game be the catalyst to bring back the stock class games. I find them more challenging.

fact (fkt) n. -Knowledge or information based on real occurrences: an account based on fact; a blur of fact and fancy.
Something demonstrated to exist or known to have existed: "Genetic engineering is now a fact."" That Chaucer was a real person is an undisputed fact. "
nope, your statements dont agree with the definiton, cant be a "fact" if it hasnt happened yet, a game of this type and scale has never happened, anywhere to my knowledge.. , as of now its simply an assumption. ThePump defenders are going to make that statement "fiction" :D
If you beleive there is no skill involved, please tell all your team mates.. it will make our job so much easier.. -_-

If you haven't done it yet, post this stuff's pics and serial numbers over at mcarterbrown.com, those guys are always seeking out older stuff and probably see and notice everything that passes through the world of paintball-collectables.

As for a pumper (or anyone) getting hit in the groin, serves anyone who doesn't wear a cup right. Yes, its a direct statement from Rathbaster that may offend someone but I've seen to many fools (some are my friends) get shot there and feel the pain. Comovartia learned the hard way. Henrikus learned the hard way long ago. Monkeyman and I went out and bought cups straight away when we took the sport up seriously. No matter how much I like them, I have no sympathy for a guy who does not wear a cup and gets shot in the groin.
----------
As for how long will we hold? Who can predict it. Its never been tried before. Its like predicting a football game before it starts. Yes you may have all the facts straight, but no plan survives contact with the op-for for long, be it football or paintball.
In the end it will not matter how long we hold, but that we undertook a difficult thing because it was difficult. To succede would be spectacular, but to try and fail, so long as it is done with honor and integrity (and a little show-manship) and is worth a good story in the end, that is what will matter. :)
