Title: PP2 Prep.
easix6 - May 25, 2005 01:33 PM (GMT)
Last year I had pneumonia for the event. It sucked in some aspects, I was run down and tired - but it still was the best paintball I've played since the late 80's. (if not ever!)
This year I trying to do my part to make it a little differant and try to be in half-arsed shape when I get there. Got my gun, got my gear set up the way I want it. All to do now is prep my body.
Just came back from my new enforced routine. Jogged a mile. I'm up to a mile now after about a week and a half. It's been tough! Been cooped up most of the winter months in my house, playing Diablo 2, chain smoking and getting all soft. Past time I got off my lazy arse and rejoined the world of the living... ;)
Dispite the pain, general soreness and shortness of breath I've been pluggin at it - at a reasonable pace and will continue. It's a lot like boot camp without the brush-cutted Phillipino guy with the cheap aftershave yelling at me "You 'r f-ed up! You 'r f-ed up like a soup san-which!!! Drwap!, Drwap! Fo-evar begin!!!" (I hated that guy at the time...but he was pretty cool later, we grew to be fairly good friends ;) )
I got to thinking you want things in this life, you want to excel and do your best? You gotta' pay. So I'm paying my personal dues now so that I can offer up my personal best for SCP at PP2.
I think the fight will be harder this time. The Marshals will be itching for payback. In many aspects we lucked out the last game by having such and awe inspiring Assassin squad (way to go Equils, Rath, Comovartia and Neutonium) I think the stakes will be higher this round and every bit of the fight will be up hill. I wanna be in shape enough to climb that hill and kick their arses when I get to the top. :P
A little overboard for the game of paintball? Perhaps, but I like to do things well if I'm gonna' do them. This is no differant. Besides, I tend to be the obsessive sort anyway. Also, I really do need to get in better shape and cut down on the smokes if not quit.
I didn't know if anyone else is "working" up to the event as I am. So I started this post to find out. I hope I'm not alone... If so, at least I'm getting in better shape so it isn't time lost or wasted. :)

You're not alone, brother. I'm also starting to get in shape by exercising more, and cutting back on a few bad habits. I'm also doing a few more drills to increase my snapshooting and use available cover in a more efficient fashion (see: not hanging halfway out of a bunker to shoot). Go get 'em, tiger!
SNOOPER - May 25, 2005 03:24 PM (GMT)
So am I. physical therapy three times a week for an hour or two. Home exercises, too. I hope we're all in great shape for PP2 so we can kick arse!! :D :pow: :pow:
EDIT. oh yeah also when it gets warm enough.. laps in pool daily!!!
 I AM A MACHINE !!!!!

Good to go guys. I have been training two days a week in martial arts, then walking and running after my one year old... Don't laugh, it is harder than it sounds! :D plus trying to get back into lifting and running...also harder than it looks. Joints aren't as young as they used to be!!
Newtonium - May 25, 2005 09:29 PM (GMT)
I've been keeping my trigger finger in shape by playing Halo2. That has to count for something...
comovartia - May 26, 2005 08:51 PM (GMT)
After all those dam hills equals P took me up all day I am trying to get in better shape so we don't have to keep stoping so this out of shape old man can catch his breath. ( Sorry about that last year)
Sad to say I am failing miserably at this task. Maybe with the warmer weather aproaching I will be a little more inclined to get out for some walks and then start working on some running. I may never be able to keep pase with P but I'll be happy if I can keep him in my sight.

I wonder if all the walking I do at work counts... hehe
I've really been meaning to start working out, mayeb this will finally push me over to do it!

I've been practicing pillaging and plundering. I still need to work on the burning and looting.

edit to add: You no longer have to worry about what "happened" to your recycling players. We have found a substitute :D http://www.eathufu.com/ >

I've been working on my natural "bounce" armor. Eating is so much more fun than exercising. :P

I got my prep work in motion..... how may you ask?
I convinced that there should be a burlesque house added to the map and for missions.
So now... time to prepare!

And who do you suggest man this burlesque house, hmmmm?
Rare Faction - June 5, 2005 06:18 PM (GMT)
My workout routine...
1) 30 mins on a treadmill 3-4 times a week
2) 10 mins lifting after the walk, to keep the upper body and lower in sync
3) On the days I don't run, swim
4) After the exercise, shower and go to Wendy's, so that everything I've done is in vain
5) When hanging with friends, end at least half of my sentences with 'Yar!' or 'Shiver me timbers!'. Mentioning either the poop deck or the plank works, too
It still needs refinement, but it'll have to do, as I'm far too busy to rework it

Wow, its amazing how similar our workout routines are, except I don't DO 1,2 or 3. I just think about them. I am getting really good at 4, and I don't even want to think about 5.

my preparation so far has consisted of researching on the different ways pirates were generally hanged, disposed of and convicted (or maybe it goes the other way around?? :P )
the pt starts in the morning... i will be a lean, mean pirate shooting machine in time for the event... :D

Update:
Training is coming along well. I can jog 3 miles now in a stretch. That's a bit too much though as my aging knees have a tendency to become inflamed the next morning. I've procured a "few" bikes and have been riding them as well. I've been riding my bikes over to Letchworth State Park (isn't very far from my house)lots of hills - it's a nice work out and the scenery is simply breathtaking.
Gallery pics of Letchworth - really quite beutiful...Anyway, my wind is improving (still smoking, but I've cut down a lot) I'm firming up all over and I feel myself getting stronger with every outing. Shortly I'll be hitting the "pay to be puked on" fields in my area to get in some trigger time and practice "evasive" manuvers / "whack-a-mole", snapshots, bunker usage and sprints for cover. I really need to buy a case of paint and just practice snap-shooting with the Phantom, I'm getting better with it, but it doesn't "feel" like an extension of me yet...need to work on that more and get my instinct shooting in gear with this gun.
All this prep has led to another project - and oddly enough not really paintball related. Since I've procured several bikes at this point I've been kicking around the idea of building a recumbant bike from them. I'll soon be breaking out the hacksaw and the torch - this time not aimed at a PGP...
I'm by far not a great player - never have been skill wise. Still, I want to have the stamina to have fun and enjoy myself there and play paintball to the best of my ability for my age.
Regards,
Six

Thats why I surround myself with great players. Gives the illusion that I am a great player. Works wonders.

Wait a minute, if you're surrounding yourself with great players to make yourself look better, and I'm surrounding myself with great players to make myself look better, and P is surrounding himself with great players to make himself look better....that means Newtonium is ACTUALLY the great player..... :o
Who knew?

Well, I've been working on a couple of other important pirate skills. I think I've got the rum one down pretty well. And of course, no true pirate ever gives up the quest for more booty!

I'd tear 'em up with Roman Gladius and Scutum! I always liked the matches where I was going up against a big guy with a 2 hand weapon. Simple defeat <Shield rush, bash, upper thrust to the guts>

Hmm... well that depends... on what the gal that the booty is attached to looks like and whether or not she exercises her Kegels on a daily basis... B)

I take if you've never seen "The Punisher" ?
C'mon don't you know movies are documentaries! Anything that happens there happened before already.

*ahem*
I dunno if I want to talk on the phone with someone who is "working out".
Well, whatever. I guess people will buy anything.
Meph, I was going to say "Under Siege" - you know, where we put down our handgun in order to fight the bad guy with a knife... because that's always a good idea.

Who said anything about a "gal"?
