Syllable count 5-7-5 (or 17 syllables in 3 lines)
Usually last line has a nature reference.

The sun grows slowly
As the defenders prepare
The castle must hold.

as the horde comes into view all is silent
pinned and outnumbered the castle garud sees what it is facing and knows what it must do the sound of many guns being cocked and shouldered echos from the walls strangly this is comforting to those inside.
